Thank you!

I've have taken the plunge and booked myself an INT 650. I went for a test ride of both the bikes. And this time I went for the KTM first and then the INT. I loved the INT this time. I felt the KTM is very similar in performance/vibration/seating posture to the DOM 400 (something I already have with decent modifications done to my liking).

The INT felt butter smooth. Gave it a fair bit of thought and I know I will never do hardcore off roading/trails. Even if someday I want to do, I thought I'd rather get myself an xpulse. So yeah! I now would have 2 bikes both of different riding styles/performance etc.

So have you jumped ship and bought the KTM?

Btw, you are aware of the upcoming upgrades to Inty 650 by end of the March or so, in the form of alloy wheels, tubeless tyres and may be tripper nagivation, right ? Based on the insider info I have got, it may not be just a rumour this time around.

Congratulations on your decision to go for the 650 Twin. You will love the machine, especially her engine, it is a gem.

I have not yet plonked my cash for the A390 as awaiting some clarity on the MY2023, which was announced some days back, to be available here. It would be having spoke wheels and adjustable front suspension. Not really waiting for spoke wheels but the latter would be something which will help make the ride a but more plush.

Congratulations on the Interceptor 650.It is a beautiful bike if you have an open stretch of road. The stock exhaust system itself is phenomenal. 18 days and 1500 kms after I got my bike, I am grinning like a Cheshire Cat and sold off my Highness 350.At this price point, this is the bike to have!!

Thank you!

Taking the delivery today. And hoping to do some riding on Sunday.

Also, the first service is at 500km ?

Yup. Well aware of these.

I'm hoping that the alloy wheels will be sold as an accessory. Tripper navigation is not much of value to me. Since i will always have the phone mounted on the handlebars.

Yes. First service is at 500 km. After the service, bike feels a little smoother.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

It's been a while since I've updated life with #JennytheInterceptor. My last update here was when I installed the SS motocorp 2x1 full system pipes on it. It's been close to 8 months since and I can confidently say, the bike is a hoot to ride in the city (albeit when traffic isn't choc a bloc) and on the highways.

Along with the pipes, I have also switched tires to the Ralco speed blasters. With my penchant to go off the beaten path, this change has made life a little easier. It still doesn't make the interceptor anyone's first choice for an offroad bike but we make do with what we have. Since I have no interest in testing fate by going 2-3 times over the speed limit on a bike with basically no wind protection and unpredictable Indian highways, I can live with the lower speed rating.

The next mods to improve driving pleasure would be to invest in a Race Dynamics piggyback ecu, free flow filter, and tune the bike.

All said and done, my opinion is that this bike is a complete game changer for Royal Enfield and its affordable nature only elevates the biking community in India!

As always, leaving you all with some neat pictures of my bike in the urban jungle! Cheers!

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Has anyone felt a decline in the smoothness of the engine soon after the oil was replaced at the service center?

I got the 1 year/10k kms service completed a few days ago at the A.S.S and took it for a spin yesterday and the engine doesn't feel smooth as it was before. With synthetic oil, my guess was that the engine will be smooth right from when the new oil is used. The engine also felt like it was going to die when de-accelerating at slow speeds. That was when I was getting the bike back from the service center and didn't notice it a few days later.
With my old Bullet that runs mineral oil, as the oil gets used, the smoother the engine gets and with fresh oil, it is not as smooth initially.

Is this something to do with the quality of the oil used (Liquid Gun by HP) or will the engine smoothen out over time? I have anyway ordered some Wurth oil additive to smoothen it a bit for the time being and will probably help over the long run as well.

Yes right after the 1st service; so in the last service, I switched to Motul 7100 10W50 & the engine got very smooth; fly in the wound is the tappet noise!!

Coincidence being, I too got 10K serviced last month, but with Motul instead of liquid gun {mind voice: how can a gun be in the state of liquid or a liquid take shape of a gun? Both rendering to be useless for the state of being or the purpose}

No; simply use Shell or Motul 10W50 sir, everything should fall in place. My only apprehension on long term being the engine is coarse & perhaps not engineered to precision like Honda or any Jap/EU for that matter; so would the engine even need a FS oil in first place or would it do more harm than gun in liquid state? Only time can answer!!

PS - Perhaps my paranoia, a rumination that I've is, perhaps the tappet noise has increased due to Motul?

Go for a longer highway run and check, might be a placebo! How are the gear-shifts after the oil change? Check the engine oil level after warming up the engine and then shutting it off.

Change the oil after 6 months and see the difference.

In addition, did you swap back the performance filter? It's said to keep the engine at idle to pick-up the air flow change for a good 10-15 mins. I personally don't agree to this auto tune ECU thing but still follow it!

I feel the bike behaves differently on short commutes and is jittery but on a weekend ride out on the highways its a much smoother operator!

Happy riding,

I had thought of changing the oil this time with Motul, but decided to do this service as well with Liquid Gun since obviously it is tested by RE for this engine and maybe using this for the first 10k kms will set in the engine well. The funny thing is that even when the bike was new and after the first service at 500 kms when the oil was replaced as well, I didn't feel this lack of prior smoothness. It is almost like they forgot to use FS oil. Thankfully, no tappet noise till now and though I heard it few times after a long ride or hard ride, it didn't persist after that.

Liquid Gun- The liquid to run the gun (Gun, in this case, being the Made like a Gun Royal Enfield)

I am heading out, hopefully, on a 1000kms trip next weekend. Will know and update here. Gear shifts are as good as before, no change there. Engine oil level is on the mark as well.

Yes, I did swap back the air filter to the performance one ,but didn't let it idle thinking the stock air filter was used just to the service center and back which was a total of 6 kms. I did have this in the back of my mind. but the power delivery seems to be the same as well as before service. The bike always felt the same for me, be it short city rides or highways. The level of smoothness and gear shifts feels the same. Maybe it is too early to say and I will wait for the ride to be sure if it is just a feeling of roughness.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Question to the Continental GT650 owners here. Are there any alloy brake pedals or gear shift levers available in the market, specifically for the GT650? I know of the K-Speed rear-set from Thailand. I am asking about any other options.

I know that there are a few alloy foot-controls available for the Interceptor, but they don't fit the GT.

Looks amazing just like Triumph Bonneville, hopefully the paint quality is good enough & exhaust won't rust. Any idea when might 650 Classic would be out? Much-awaited bike!
