Ahh, thank you kindly for the pics!
This brings me to two more questions:

1. Would this back pressure cause any long term negative effects on the engine? Especially if you consider running the baffles in all the time+stock header configuration?

2. What's the length of these baffles? I ask this for reference, since I had contacted Powerage and they replied that they make custom baffles similar to AEW but on demand, here's what they sent me:

They cost Rs 1800/- a pair. This image is exactly what prompted me to ask you about the AEW silent baffles, since I thought these ones were open ended and not closed off.

Very interesting to note that both companies are making similar designs. The only question that remains is: which one will be quieter?

Powerage with their stock baffles are pretty quiet themselves, here's what their support had to share about the dB levels:

Idle: 74 dB
Flyby: 78 to 84 dB at 3500 RPM

Unfortunately they had no data regarding their custom baffles.

So I assume the next best method to ascertain the quieter exhaust would be to compare the lengths of the baffles, and go by knowledge of the members at TeamBHP and a bit of luck. Maybe even better if somebody here is using these custom baffles from Powerage and can share their experience.

P.S: Do you think the AEW Silent baffles can be fitted onto the Powerage slip-ons?

These should be around a foot long. The longer the baffle, quieter the exhaust would be. The back pressure created by the closed end baffle will not cause any issue with the engine in regards to the back pressure. The stock mufflers are much more restricted.

I am not sure if the AEW and Powerage baffles can be used on the same muffler. It depends on the diameter of the baffles.

I am looking to update the stock headlight in my 2024 model interceptor. It is LED but the throw and output is not good.
What are my options?

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Every single one of my friends who owns an Interceptor recently got fined. And by 'fines' I mean amounts ranging from Rs 15k and upwards. Essentially, all of them had swapped their exhausts for aftermarket ones. The police took photos of the exhausts from parking lots and issued challans for unauthorized modifications and noise pollution. I'd like to clarify that they weren't making any noise; the bikes were just parked in parking lots in front of shops etc... I assume the police identified the aftermarket exhausts by looking at the diameter of the exhaust tip. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Also, are there any covers or accessories available that can reduce the diameter of the exhaust tip when the bike is parked? It seems that large diameters are a trigger for the cops.

Stick to the stock exhaust then. In cases like these, it is better to not risk paying a fine which is as expensive as an after market exhaust. Just have to accept the reality since cops there are at a different level.

That really sucks. Aftermarket exhausts bring a whole lot more character to the bike. The stock mufflers are just too damn quiet in my opinion. One of the guys didn't have a PUC, and according to the Challan, he had 7 days to produce the PUC with the stock exhaust and mirrors, or they might cancel his registration. Cops really don’t have any other business here in Kerala.

Yes, from a sound perspective, it is sad. But, from what I experienced, the stock pipes makes the engine run very smooth and is torquey too. I have never been able to get that feeling after I moved to after market pipes. The pick up back then felt very effortless too.

The thing with cops are, they will have one guy who will know what the stock pipes looks like on each model. So even if the noise levels are low and meet the required norms, they will still fine based on looks. And obviously there is no reasoning with them.

A beautiful sounding exhaust on my old Bullet 500 which was not loud at all was confisicated by the cops years ago just beacaue it was an upswept design and matt black. As per them, whatever it is, it has to be the long bazooka muffler, which is why later, there were after market exhausts that looked like this, but was actually loud.

If you're battery, and the rectifier is good, you must check the ignition coil, stator, and crank position sensor.

the crank position sensor is also a critical component because despite providing optimum voltage if it is at the wrong timing then the bike won't start.

I read somewhere that the interceptor has a TCI transistor-controlled ignition which is controlled by the ECU, so crank angle sensors are important.

Check these things,

What is the bike voltage as measured at the terminals before during and after the start button is pressed.

If you have aftermarket accessories isolate them to eliminate the source of battery drain.

resistance of ignition coil and stator to eliminate them as problems.

attaching some useful links to read up.

https://bigbikereviews.com/test-moto...ignition-coil/

trouble shooting electrical faults is a big headache. hope this is of some help, and members can add to this.
I am also facing battery drain issue. Replaced the RR unit, changed the battery but the issue is not resolved. If bike is kept for 3 days, it will not start.

Anyone selling their stock alloy wheels?

I want to move from tubed to tubeless tyres and am looking for wheels.

5th year update & Annual service @26,000km

Five years of pure motorcycling! Last month Spitfire, my Interceptor 650 completed 5 years and 26,000 kms with me.

Annual service was due and I got it serviced at Pitlane, Pune. I tend to prepare notes prior to dropping the bike for service. I prefer weekdays for a service. The mechanics are much relaxed and can work on your bike at ease.
Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin-5.jpeg

The front brake pads were changed with RE brake pads, these are the 3rd set. Rear brake pads are still stock. Both the brake fluids were bleeded with fresh fluid (DOT 4). The chain set still has 2 more adjustments left hence was not changed. All other checks including valve clearance (no-noise) and rear swing-arm (no-play) were found ok!

I continued with Motul 7100 as in the last year for 5,800 kms it served me well. They have started providing Silkolene oils, I might try it once!

I've been visiting this FNG regularly and hence didn't stay back for the service and don't have the detailed pics to share. The bike was ready by evening.

A short ride with Jomson13 and Nilesh5417 to Veer dam. Ricci, nav75 and sukiwa were also with us but were either too fast or too slow to be included in the group pic at this spot!

Reached the 26,000 km milestone and this time didn't miss clicking the pic.

I wanted to know whether anyone has serviced/cleaned the fuel pump? Is there any recommended interval for that?

Happy riding,

Got a wireless carplay display so I can retire the Peak design mount and maybe move it to the lesser used electra.

Ordered the connectors on amazon so I can tap into accessory power inside the headlight. Should be easy. Will update. Love that RE gave us an additional plug.

Same here, althouh my bike can go 4-5 days idle. I haven't replace anything. We just recharge the battery for around 100rs whenever required. Not ideal but not a problem for us as this is not my primary bike.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

1000 kms with Alloys and Vredestein Centauro tyres

I have completed 1000 kms with the alloys and Tubeless tyres and the only regret I have is that I did not go for this change earlier. The difference between the Ceat tyres and the Vredestein ones are huge.

The rear tyre, being a radial, makes the ride a lot more comfortable. The overall grip including cornering grip is phenomenal. I have not ridden in the wet,for it is summer, so no experience with that.

A significant difference is that there is absolutely no tramlining. The tyres inspire a lot of confidence and braking response is very good as well. Even at very high speeds, the bike feels planted.

The Ceat tyres were all over the place at high speeds. A very good albeit delayed decision to switch to alloys and Tubeless tyres.

Some pictures.

Cheers

I use Bosch C7 charger and for ease of charging added two battery connector type cables. This allows me to connect chargers without taking out the battery.

Hi rajeevsulu

Thank you for posting regular updates on your Interceptor. Glad to see you munching the miles!

If I may ask a slightly off topic question - I see that the exhausts, especially the headers have a lot of discoloration, which is normal for any single-walled stainless steel exhaust.

Just wanted to know if you have tried polishing them to remove the discoloration. Asking this as I am considering a similar setup for my Inty as well.

Cheers and ride safe!
