re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

Looking at the brochure and the pictures here is my opinion:

1. The colours on the scale models may look different in real life so I would reserve my judgement on that. But still, I like the light blue colour with the tan seats of the Supernova which has been shown.

2. In the earlier leaked images of the Meteor and the prototype leaks the fuel tank looked smaller than the Thunderbird. But here they seem to suggest Royal Enfield is sticking to a 20 litre fuel tank. For a relaxed 350cc highway cruiser that would be satisfactory.

3. I do not understand the need for 3 different variants of what is essentially the same motorcycle. I think the Fireball and Supernova variants would have been sufficient. The Fireball could be like a blank canvas while the Supernova a showcase of all the accessories combined.

4. I personally feel that Royal Enfield could have made an effort and given the bike 500cc engine. That would have maybe differentiated it from the Classic 350. A 500cc highway cruiser would have been a wonderful space filler between the 350cc and 650cc engined bikes.

I was looking forward to an all black model, but even that has bucket full of chrome. The Thunderbird X looks better than this IMHO, though not a fan of those too.

After launching the 650 twins, it feels like they have taken few steps back. Let's wait for the launch and better pics
Definitely. I echoed the same sentiments earlier. Its like there are two teams in RE that design bikes without consulting each other. Funny. IMO The twins have raised the bar for what people can expect from them and this is not it. It would have been a good product prior to twins coming on the scene. Having said that, RE has generously given better lighting equipment on this one as compared to the twins which is good. I guess the wheels are tubeless too.

re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

This bike will sell !! but i wonder how will they price it. They will need to price it well above the bread and butter "classic" and now with 3 variants, it appears like the base model will be placed at the thunderbirdX+few grands and the mid variants clashing with Jawa(hence those metallic colors)and finally the dual tone model which might be more pricier.

It could be poor photography from the brochure, but the color treatment on dual tone sure reminds me of "lightning".

I would put my money on the base yellow variant and install a backrest and may be a visor. Why pay extra for all that gaudy chrome treatment !!

I will not be surprised if they end up with base model only having single ABS to cut costs.

Does anyone know more about this engine ? could it be derived from the Himalayan with all that OHC stuff ?
Himalayan's refinement is much better compared to their UCE bullets/classics which come with biggest feature called "vibration"

Only Complain will be design of the rear mudguard.
Hopefully the new engine brings down the vibes and pushes the power and torque figure a bit higher.
Fingers crossed.

New Gen Classic 350

Meteor 350

Sherpa/Hunter

650 cc RE

All these seem like the latest test mules and have been spotted & reported on Rushlane.

re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

While Meteor, Classic, Sherpa, Hunter names/test mules have been spotted previously few times, I never saw the 650 test mule before. Can anyone shed more light as to what are they testing here ? Picture is not clear but it doesn't look like ADV to me, looks pretty much the same as interceptor 650. Perhaps a more feature loaded supernova variant of 650 twins in works ? With LED lights, digital console, navigation and few other premium accessories, RE can still place the premium 650 twin well below the other competition.

Here is the original video. You can listen to the exhaust note and also a comparision between the old UCE and new SOHC engine, as there is a classic 350 as well on the road. Doesn't quite have the thump but let's see after the launch.

re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

The bike does not look very appealing in the renders. But I have a feeling they will look good or at least better than what we are seeing right now in person.
The ball is with Royal Enfield on this one really. If they can introduce a good engine that is refined and the bike has good quality levels, that would simply be enough to bring back their huge sales and maybe even improve it.
I know of many people who want Royal Enfield's but are simply scared of the hassles that come with it!

The whole point of owning a RE was for the thump and effortless ride. Now with the pushrod being phased out in Meteor, this is going to feel and sound like a generic bike engine with bigger cc.

It would still make a desirable purchase for the relaxed and still effortless power delivery. 20 odd bhp from 350cc makes for a nice non hurried cruise. Although the other parameters such as quality, reliability and after sales will matter a lot.

re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

So basically, the Meteor is a revamped knock off version of the Thunderbird, which looks like the Benelli Imperiale sans the chrome, with a small head(light) and an obese body.

I hope Royal Enfield doesn't goof up the upcoming 650cc cruiser.

re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

I hope designers at RE have learnt their lesson with M&M versions of their Classic and will not release the Meteor in Poppins colors. At the same time I will reserve my judgement until I see them in person, low quality scoop pics of test mules should not be taken too seriously in my opinion. First the 650 twins and now the news of Meteor, Sherpa/Hunter, 650 Cruiser, I like this new RE!

It is not the same old bike. This is the new SOHC engine on an entirely new platform. Also, this is on a new twin cradle frame. Apart from the resemblance in the looks to the existing Tb350X, there is nothing else being carried over from the old motorcycle.

While I would have expected RE to be better than this in the design aspect, but I will reserve my judgement until I see one in the flesh.

re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

Looks like RE is intentionally leaking selective information to build the excitement levels leading to grand launch. Otherwise I wonder why the number of gears is still a mystery when rest of the slides describe everything.
