While I am hopeful but would still wait for a review and user feedback to confirm the same.

These(along with Chetak and Ather) are the EV scooters that we should be looking at for the future, IMHO.

Good job TVS

TVS have a clear winner on their hands! The styling is a lot more relatable and will appeal to the mainstream consumer.

This is a good upgrade path for the lakhs of existing Activa users.

A well rounded package from TVS. People who want a Point
A to Point B scooter which can do basic "Scooter things" will like the practicality that this scooter offers.
This will appeal a major chunk of our scooter riders. And the pricing from TVS is also decent.

I think you're jumping the gun too soon. Availability was not the only reason why people purchased more Chetaks/Olas/Athers than iQubes. While iQube is a well rounded package, I don't feel people will rush to buy it. It is not like this is absolutely a perfect vehicle out there. IMO couple of things that are not so good about iQube are:

1. The hub motor - While it looks good on paper, the hub motors don't really give a good riding experience on road. I've not ridden the iQube but all the other hub motors I've experienced were all mediocre and jerky. The reason why Ather, Chetak and Ola are good to ride is because of the transmission. While transmission losses will reduce the efficiency, the torque delivery to the wheels is more enjoyable.

2. Pricing - TVS has not included the charger pricing. it is over and above the pricing announced already. The previous generation 500w charger was 12k. The charger for 650w and 950w might be around 15k to 20k. iQubeST pricing is still not known...and that has an even faster charger.
iQube will be around 125k and iQubeS will be around 140k and iQube ST will be around 175k. This will put straight into Ather's price band. People for whom range is not a deal breaker, will consider the other.

That said, I feel iQube will heal all the damage that Ola has done for EV adoption in general. No unrealistic claims/social media gimmicks - They are just doing what they are good at...building mass market scooters.

Re: 2022 TVS iQube Electric Scooter launched at Rs 98,564

My pat on the back for TVS as this is the most complete EV scooter - with a saree step !!! Seriously how stupid of Ola and Ather to skip this most essential feature in their scooters ? I'd gladly any day pick up a modest automobile backed up by big organization than pick cutting edge automobile who's led by egoistic CEO ! The pricing is a welcome change IMO and this will sell a lot. I'll definitely consider this one as my first EV ! Again,

Re: 2022 TVS iQube Electric Scooter launched at Rs 98,564

A good product from TVS now made Better,
Better Range, Essential tech, Powered by a solid dealer and service network,
And now finally with interesting colour options (Previous Version had only White as a colour).

Only downside in my opinion is that Chargers are not included, Atleast the basic charger should have been included in the pricing.

Selling an EV without charger is like selling car without tyres. How is it lawful or is the government trying to incentivise the EV industry by keeping its eyes and ears closed? Also not in favour of connected technology. Okinawa seems good in all these parameters.

Re: 2022 TVS iQube Electric Scooter launched at Rs 98,564

Booked the iQube S variant in Hyderabad. After the booking with Rs 5,000, there are options to choose the charger and dealer. Only a 650W charger option is available and it's priced at Rs 9,450. After selecting the charger and dealer, the final payment option is also enabled. Completed the full payment as well. I am not a 2 wheeler enthusiast and my usage is very very low. I have been looking for an electric scooter to replace my 10-year-old FZ for the last 2 years. Lockdowns, WFH, and moving to the native place delayed the purchase. TVS iQube launched in 2020 has the lowest range among all the competition (Ather, Chetak, Ola). Now with the latest upgrades, it became the highest range (ST variant) 2-wheeler.

I would have gone for the ST variant if they had announced the price and started deliveries, but the deliveries for that start from August onwards. I have made the reservation (Rs 999) for ST as well. If the pricing is decent and my experience with S is good, then I will purchase that as well unless Hero surprises with their scooter next month.

The reason for not choosing the Ather is its price is too high for the range. Also, the noise is too high and irritating, especially at lower speeds. Ather's performance and ride quality are very good. Chetak was a good option at the launch price and was only available in 2 cities for a few months at that price. It's now almost 50% costlier and the range is still the same. Ola's performance, ride quality, range, and pricing are good but reliability problems and bad service quality made me hesitant. Hopefully, with increased competition, we will see much better Gen 2 products from all these companies.

Here are the complete pricing details for iQube, iQube S, and charger.

Final on-road prices for iQube:
iQube = Rs 1,24,175 (Rs 1,14,725 + Rs 9,450 for charger)
iQube S = 130,296 (Rs 120,846 + Rs 9,450 for charger)

While TVS website's on-road price does not include charger cost, the above prices are with the charger.

hemanth.anand, at this stage of the game, will the price of the charger really affect the success of the iQube? I believe that TVS has done enough to put up a proposition that is impossible to ignore in today's EV scooter market. With TVS's proven track record in this space, 3 variants, 10 colours and attractive pricing, I feel the cost of the charger isnt going to send any potential customer away.

Also, can you share your thoughts why someone would pick up an Ather, if the range is not a deal breaker? Is it on account of the better transmission / non hub motor? I did not understand what you meant by that.

I fully agree that your well worded closing statements. Properly engineered products will do a lot to provide peace of mind ownership to everyone who was looking at an EV scooter. With the frequent reports of fires and scooters going backwards instead of forwards, things werent looking too good for the EV scooter market. Hopefully the iQube is a much needed antidote to being normalcy back to the segment!

Congratulations on your booking of the TVS iQube. Has the company / dealership committed any delivery date? Given your enthusiastic participation on the Ola thread, I am quite surprised that you ended up buying a TVS iQube. That said, I fully agree with your reasoning for avoiding the Ola scooter. Do keep this thread updated with your delivery experience and hopefully you can provide us with an ownership experience of the iQube.

Congratulations! I thought you would be opting for an Ola when they sort out their issues. But I still think that updated iQube is more bang for the buck at this point in time. Good choice.

How did the online booking and payment process go? Was there any contact from the (nearest) dealer of choice after your booking?

Congratulations.

I too am in a similar boat, given the choices the iQube seems like a good bet.

Its a shame that the added under seat storage is only for the ST variant. But the added battery capacity means price will be north of 1.35lakh minimum.

Is hero motors launching their electric scooter next month?

As of now, there is no update from TVS or dealership.

I was an enthusiastic participant even on Ather and Chetak threads as well or most of the EV-related threads for that matter.

I was definitely interested in Ola due to its range and features for the price. But as I mentioned, persistent quality problems and the lack of service centers made me wait. I am aware that TVS is upgrading iQube this quarter but did not expect such a major upgrade.

Booking process:

It's a bit frustrating process and not as smooth as Ather or Ola. You can only book or reserve one scooter per account. We need to give unique mobile numbers and emails.
  • Initially, I reserved the ST variant yesterday under my mobile number. As I said, there is no option to book another vehicle under the same account. I did not get any emails or SMS for this yet.
  • So, I used another mobile number and email to book the iQube S variant. But I did not get any email or SMS for this as well. When I see the account dashboard, it's showing the old iQube pricing. I called customer care and their reply is that it will be resolved by 2 pm today. Today afternoon one of my friends was able to book the vehicle and he is seeing the new iQube in his account. There is also an option to pay the final amount for him. But there is no change in my booking. So, I canceled my yesterday's booking as CC was not helpful.
  • I created another account with another mobile number and paid both booking and final amounts. For this, I got the payment confirmation emails and the dashboard is showing the new iQube S. No delivery timelines as of now.

Re: 2022 TVS iQube Electric Scooter launched at Rs 98,564

I have some queries.

Does it come with center stand? I didn't see it mentioned.

Is it mono shock at the rear?

Specs says 10% gradeability? Ola has 12% whereas Ather has 20%. How much will it impact while climbing slopes or stop/start from slopes.

Re: 2022 TVS iQube Electric Scooter launched at Rs 98,564

It appears pretty weird that the ST gets more storage space (2 helmet space as opposed to one) inspite of a bigger battery! I would have expected the larger battery in the ST to make it more challenging to provide for a larger under seat storage. All other dimensions seem identical between the variants.

If TVS has done this intentionally (as opposed to some real design constraints on the S), it does appear a wee bit petty of them.
