Hey, it's been long since I saw your posts or read your awesome blogs.

Well, that's a great question I was wondering as well till I heard a journo asking that these bikes would share space with KTM to which Mr. Bajaj replied in affirmation. If that's the case the bikes would be serviced even at KTM service centers which could very well mean low cost spares & servicing. But the quality of Triumph certified product is way higher than KTM/Bajaj so spares & servicing would be higher.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

Simply unbelievable pricing at 2.33L ex showroom. That translates to approx 2.85L on road in Mumbai. Leaves some room for accesories too for a 3L budget potential buyer.

Purely going by numbers (power, torque, cubic capacity, price), the Triumph Speed 400 is similar to the Dominar 400. Is there a possibility that they are sharing engine parts ? How have they managed to price it so well ?

16,000 kms or 1 year whichever earlier - What an amazing service interval. This contradicts my above line. If the engine components were similar to Bajaj Dominar 400, the service intervals would have been same as the regular Bajaj bikes.

I am super happy with the pricing.
Have been stubborn to never let go of my 11 and a half year old CBR and not even upgrade. But today, I almost feel like buying the speed 400.

Will definitely wait for comprehensive ride reviews and ownership experiences for the next 4-5 months and if everything checks out, will seriously consider buying it in December/January. Fingers crossed.

PS - Which engine oil would they be using in this entry level Triumph for it to last up to 16,000 kms ? Truly remarkable automotive engineering by Bajaj and Triumph.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

Truly unbelievable pricing. Like a true magician, they have pulled a rabbit out of their hat.

The introductory price is lower than Bajaj's own Dominar 400 (which FYI is same as the Harley launched yesterday).

I had no intention of taking a look but at this price, it is too mouth watering. I don't want to share my number (too many spam callers) so can anyone tell me where can we get test rides in Pune?

Astonishing pricing. Immediately pre-booked the SCRAMBLER 400 X (Matt Khaki Green). Will now have to wait till October for scrambler pricing.

But this pricing is only for thr first 10K buyers. I think it is 2.23L
edited: My bad, apologies, the first 10K gets it for 2.23 L but the ex show room is 2.33 L otherwise.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

One of the best looking motorcycle out there in its segment and a laud launch event by Bajaj-Triumph. Happen to go through the webcast and the Q&A was typical Rajiv's style, astute, suave and sarcastic.

Neatly proportioned, exhaust sounds crisp.

Cheers!

KTM personnel have been trained and are being transferred to be 400CC Triumph specialists. All spares via the Bajaj Supply Chain.

The design was done by Triumph, the engineering by Bajaj. There will be dedicated showrooms and service for Triumph-Bajaj bikes. Servicing will be taken care by mechanics pulled from existing Bajaj service centers and will be trained by Triumph.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

This looks like a sweet deal, so I went ahead with the booking. I will decide to buy or not after reviews and test rides. I wanted to place my booking in first 10k, hope I got it. I've been looking to restart motorcycling and looks like this is a good re-entry bike for me. I've couple of questions though.

1. Do we know if there are any variants in speed 400? If the one that is shown for 2.23, it's amazing.
2. Do we know if this motorcyle has dual channel ABS? i see ABS listed for both front and rear brakes from triumph site.
3. Do we get 4-5 years of extended warranty? Given that Keerthi triumph Bangalore is well known for screwing up at service, this is much needed.

Thank you.

p.s. my previous post on same subject: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...-aged-man.html (Restart of motorcycling | Suggest a good motorcycle to a middle-aged man)

I am also running a 2015 CBR 250 and a few days back went to Triumph to TD the Tiger 660. Will go again to check this out once TD is available but the itch to upgrade to at least a twin cylinder is really big.

Meanwhile at Honda:

Executive 1: "Should we bring the CBR 250 back to India?"
Executive 2: *Pulls out a slide for Activa sales*
Executive 1: "Nah, too much work. Hey how is that 7G coming?"

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

Good strategy by Bajaj to attract customers by launching at such great price and be a talking point in the town (Biking community). Hope it will have the original Triumph quality as well. First HD and now Triumph, surely RE will be little worried.

I too made a pre-booking because at this price, I'd rather not think twice. If the bike doesn't work for me, I would rather sell it than sit around wringing my hands wondering why I didn't buy it. Somehow, I'm unable to open the receipt that I downloaded on my phone (it's 2.98kb in size) and don't know if others have also faced this issue.

I booked in a hurry so as to not miss out on the first 10,000 offer, and it seems that the number following the date is my pre-booking number, which is below 7000. Also I pre-booked the candy red version without realising what I was doing, and I don't regret it!

The red on the Triumph Speed looks just great, even though I would have preferred the green they have on the Scrambler. In any case, it's much better than the disastrous red on the Hero Harley X440.

1. There are no variants.
2. It has dual channel ABS
3. No idea about extended warranty.
