I have heard quite a few good words about vaishnu lights on YouTube. I have seen there videos and photos as well showcasing the product. Couple of people here seem to have tried it. Can you guys please show some pictures of the fitting and performance of the light. I do not like the idea of fitting aux lights, so if this can do do the trick in stock fitment. That'll be great.

Lovely ride and pics! The stays must have been carefully chosen is what I feel, right? Would like to know the details of stays along with contact points. Gmap links helps. Price? And were the food provided was pure veg?

The light is good. It has three different lights in one. Its actually plug and play.

a) You will need to open the seat cover.
b) You will need to disconnect the tank and remove it so that the wiring can reach from the battery to the front.
c) You will need to unplug the current headlight and plug in the vaishnu headlight and its done.

Fit is good. Finish is nothing to rave about. Front looks good, but the back doesnt have a dome like cover, so you can see the wiring around it. I tried speaking to the owners of Vaishnu but they say the space behind the scrambler 400x is too cramped for them to make a decent covering for it.

The best thing I liked about the light is despite its better lighting, it doesn't blind the person coming from the opposite side. That was one of the most important thing I felt needed.

Attaching the videos of the Light throw and colors.

Attaching the video of how it would look when traffic comes.

As we were not travelling with family, the places chosen were not from the creature comfort point of view, but more for the location. However they are decent enough for family as well.

One of the place is called The Galaxy Mount, Kodaikanal. This has a very scenic location and last 30 mins to the property is via jeep ride, included in the tariff.

Other one is The Westwood, Kookal.

Both places serve veg and non veg and breakfast in included. Lunch and dinner needs to be ordered in advance and they prepare accordingly.

Cost typically is 2500-3000 Rs per head for twin sharing depending on week day or weekend and season.

On another note, I have two different designs of barkbusters (both original) and tried fitting them on the 400X. But both the designs do not fit smoothly. I can manage to fit with some push and pull, but i do not want to do that. Is there any specific model of Barkbuster for the 400X. Or maybe i will go with the stock flimsy plastic handguard only out of lack of option.

Bark Busters have a model (400X) specific one. The local dealer has informed me and it's seen on their official site too I believe. 13k is the price he quoted with the plastic parts. I had checked if there was one for the Speed 400. Any plan for ROX risers?

Yes, I saw that Barkbuster model where one of the bracket is shaped differently to suit the 400X. Rest of the product is same as any other Barkbuster. I am not too sure if I want to spend another 10k on this product, as i already have a set of Barkbuster from my previous bike. Maybe I can explore possibility of using the same with some minor modifications. Will explore and share the findings.

They saw the maddogs installed but didnt say anything. With the headlights all they said is let's see if some problem comes. For now I am not overly worrying about warranty. Its only for 2 years and the 1st year is almost up. Seeing in the dark without causing blindness to oncoming traffic was more important.

I did the installation at Republic of Bikers on Kaloor- Kadavanthra road near the bridge.

Yellowfication of my Scrambler 400x

The image of a Scrambler somehow reminds me of the colour Yellow. Around 2016, I was in love with the Ducati Scrambler 900 which pre-dominantly had Yellow as the sub-brand colour. I really wanted to get one but head won over heart and i ended up with a versys 650.

After booking the Scrambler 400X in matt green, it was natural of me wanting to add some elements of yellow to the bike.

Earlier, I had made some basic adaptations as well and had shared them here on the thead. Intent was also to minimize the silver elements and change them to black.

Got a change last week to work on yellofication of some of the parts. Sharing some pictures below.

Post installation pictures of the bike.

Removing these parts are fairly simple job. I intend to change the white strip on the tank to yellow too, but will have to find a wrap shop to get the work done. Happy with the result so far. What also helps is that the front shocks are gold(yellow).

Thanks! I work for a sheet metal fabrication unit at Jigani industrial area, where they have powder coating process in-house. These parts were coated there.

I agree, the yellow side plates and the gold shocks goes well together.
But coming to the Handlebar, the yellow ribbon is kind of spoiling the looks. First image came to my mind was a kid's bicycle (No offense !).
May be a nice Bar end mirror / knuckle guard will enhance the looks even more.

Thanks. And you are right about the ribbon, but let me share the story behind the same.

I have spent a large part of my childhood at a small town in Bihar. Back in the days, most of the bicycle and cycle rickshaw had a bunch of colourful decorative elements including ribbons at the end of the handlebar.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X Review-cycle01.jpg

Growing-up with and riding these bicycles and rickshaws has left its mark and I see the repercussion of the same being applied on to my bikes. Be it an old style brass cycle bell on my machismo 350 or a 'bhopu' type rubber bellow horn on my KTM duke 390.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X Review-cycle02.jpg

Coming back to the topic, last few years, I have had this ribbon on all my bikes but in bright flourescent orange colour. Apart from childhood nostalgia, it serves a good purpose and doubles up as wind powered hazard light/warning system. The fluttering ribbon in bright colour draws attention and makes the bike and the biker visible from far, which is a great asset, especially on the highway. I have had this feedback from many of my rider friends with whom I ride regularly. One must make sure that the ribbons are not more than 4-5 inches as longer ribbons cause other issues.

So the ribbon is there for some nostalgia factor but mainly from enhancing visibility point of view. Bar end mirrors are something I could never get used to. A lot of my riding includes standing on the pegs, for which i endup raising the handlebar. Bar end mirrors do not suffice my requirement somehow, as I depend a lot on the rear view mirrors.

Re: Triumph Scrambler 400 X Review

Had a very disappointing experience with my scrambler recently - my fuel gauge showed 2 bars and my bike stopped midway on the road. Later, I realised that there was 0 fuel left in my tank.

Bike started after I refueled!

What I do is a full tank everytime I refill and set the TRIP to zero. And post 250kms on the trip, i look for a window to refill again. Bike can be pushed to about 300kms on a full tank of fuel but better to refill a bit before.

This is been working fine for me so far. The Fuel gauge is the most erractic on this bike and has a mind of its own. Never trust it for fuel stops. Even the mileage is very erractic. On highway rides, it goes up to 34-35 kmpl, and in city traffic it drops to 22-23 kmpl. Averages around 25-26 in my case.

Even I am getting an avg mileage of 27 according to the bike readings. Not sure if I should trust these readings anyway.
