Has anyone checked out the Mahindra Gusto in detail?

I have inherited a TVS Wego from my sister-in-law, and it is time to service it now. The nearest ASS for me is Tristar TVS, but their reviews on Mouthshut (http://www.mouthshut.com/two-wheeler...iews-925069846) don't inspire confidence. Are there any reliable independent mechanics who can service this bike in the Marathahalli-Indiranagar-Bellandur-Mahadevpura zone? I will be grateful for any recommendations.

Edit: The bike is 2-3 years old and has 11K km on Odo.

After eliminating the Sleek models from my list, I took test rides of some of the full-size scooters, thought I'll share it here for the benefit of others who are in similar situation. Here is the comparison chart both for Pricing and Spec/Features:




Notes:
1. Found the Activa 125 and 110 were best in terms of ride quality, brakes and under seat storage space - good overall package. Between the two, Activa 125 is clearly better with Alloy wheels, 12" front tyres, front Telescopic suspension, but has a 30-45 day waiting period post booking
The Dlx variant of the Activa 125 has front Disc brakes but strangely the dealerships aren't even accepting bookings for this, so why do they even mention it on their price lists when it's not available ?

2. The Yamaha Alpha was very rev-happy and really peppy, ride quality was a bit stiff. Felt the height of the seat was a little more for me. At the same time ground clearance lesser than the Activa, but did not scrape the underbody on taller speed breakers/humps.

3. The TVS Jupiter came in a close third, excellent ride quality, seemed like the 12" tyres did their bit
The petrol lid is located close to the tail so does not require the seat to be lifted when fueling.

4. Suzuki Access 125 (and Swish which is essentially the same but for cosmetic differences) felt more powerful but I felt ride quality wasn't great and brakes weren't confidence inspiring.

5. Underseat storage capacity varies in each scooter but if you need to fit a helmet inside, the shape of the space will also determine what type of helmet you can fit into it. My old school helmet fit perfectly only in the Activa, for all others I need to get one that fits into the vehicle.

6. Decision - Activa 110 Delux unless the dealer can do some magic to get a 125 Std in quick time!

Dont even think about Activa 110. The scooter is a pain when riding in rough conditions and potholed roads with the hydraulic suspension set up. The jerks are transferred to the hand and the back prominently. Can say this coz I am riding one for the past 4 years. Opt for Activa 125 which has telescopic suspension. The under storage for all scooters don't accommodate the full sized helmets, some of the helmets can be placed inside but ends up with no space for the papers or even a rag.

My suggestion in the order:
Activa 125>TVS Jupiter>TVS Wego>Yamaha Alpha

Suzuki Swish and Access are plagued by bad braking.

Isn't that an Activa - i thread ?

Given that Activa 125 will have a 1.5 month wait, how about Aviator as an option ? Is it same as Activa with different styling ? Haven't done a test ride yet.

EDIT:I think it will tick the boxes with telescopic front suspension, 12" front tyres so definitely better than Activa 110!

There is a Vespa model that one of my colleagues rides. Did you not consider that, or is it not worthwhile? Or is it among the "sleek" models that you skipped?

I'm a great fan of the Vespa for it's amazing looks, more so now for the retro styling in this generation, really stands out! Great build quality as well with lot of steel used compared to the others.
But, I personally do not like to ride the scooter, it's just me
It wasn't part of the "sleek" models that I eliminated, just wasn't a contender in my list.

Aviator was the only model from Honda stable which had telescopic suspension since the day it was launched. However priced more than Activa it couldn't find many takers. Also the Aviator was felt to be more taller than the Activa, hence put off many lady customers. College crowd had more affinity toward the Dio for the sporty/funky look. Hence Aviator was left to the people with mid life crisis. Ride quality is far more better than Activa, pick up is great, braking is perfect. It ticks all boxes except the cost.

Vespa is sleekier in all respect except the price factor. At par with Activa 125 cost, the thin service network works against it.

^^ Ride quality of Aviator is good, it has telescopic forks. But it has 12 inch wheel at front and 10 inch wheel at the rear (or the other way round, I don't remember). It has the same 110 cc engine as Activa, and has front disc option.

From what I have seen, Activa 125 is the Aviator with 125 cc engine, sans different wheel size for front and rear. I think both wheels are 12 inch.

Yup, thats my thread on Activa-i.

Agree with ghodlur on the harsh ride of Activas with hydraulic suspension setup. Does not matter for me because my usage is very less.

Exactly the way I saw it - Aviator improves on Activa 110's shortcomings and has almost exact specifications as the Activa 125 minus the engine of course

What's with this quirkiness about front 12 inch tyre and rear 10 inch tyre, is there an advantage in this (cost cutting is what comes to my mind, but so blatant?) ?
Any idea why Honda did this on Aviator ? And also on the Activa 125 ?

Go for the aviator. My friend just got one a month ago and I have driven it quite a few times. New HET technology is very good and its giving 50+ mileage right before first service.

He bought it for some 57k with few accessories on road in pune. Price can be more in other areas. Its readily available and no waiting period like Activa or Activa-i. I heard the activa-i has long waiting period now, someone please confirm this.

Because of the front forks and disc brakes. The discs to stay within the rim and not extend outwards hence the diameter of the tyre is increased at front.

I also have an activa 125. Everything is very good about the scooter except the ride quality. It is too bumpy. Especially when you have a pillion rider.I have checked the air pressure in the tyres, but still same is the ride quality. Looks like the suspension built nature is itself like that!!. In terms of ride quality, I would appreciate the Yamaha Ray that I have. It is fantastic in that aspect.

Tvs jupiter has 90/90 - 12 inch tyres in front and rear but activa 125 has 90/90 12 inch at the front and 10 inch in the rear. May be this is the reason for bumpiness. How about an upgrade to 12 inch tyre with new rim at the rear. Does it makes sense. Is it at the first place, feasible to do that? I am not sure on that!!
