How about starting it with the rope like the pumpset motors are started. Even the Piaggio diesel (or maybe some other new gen diesel goods auto) have the rope system to start the engine, i have seen it.

This greaves engine is ofcourse started by this method. Its called "pull start" . It doesnt look nice to pull start like auto. It will take atleast 2 months to get rid of this engine.Positively will be ordering V engine by next week

you can get more details of ongoing project and engine specs.
We chose water cooled engine rather than aircooled.
you have an amazing project in hand.never heard of a water cooled bike before. is it really possible to do that in a bullet?

The bullet diesel does not require any electricals to start, you could rip out all the wiring and it still would work.the greaves engine is a basic single cylinder diesel engine.there is no key to start the bike as well.

I had two diesels, one was hooked up to a side car which we used to pull stuff on a farm.

It is really slow to ride on the highway, and is not very good up inclines.

starting the bike is a knack.

Taurus was famous some years back. But I have not seen this for someyears now on the roads. Looks like its faced out now. There is famous Enfield mechanic in Pune. My friend has an enfield and he gets his works done from him.

How much is he quoting?

But Diesel Bullet? why? Its nothing but a diesel pumpset attached to the frame of the Bullet STD.

Ok, you might have your own reasons and i respect them. But..

While a bad excuse of a motorcycle.
The diesel does have an excellent economy aspect to it.

Then buy a famre instead and get a DI engine. I am serious.

39k?? 10 year old. Diesel. And the Greaves Garuda engine. Dosent sound right.

Ask for 20k. I know its half but thats all its worth and i am trying to be nice to the owner.

Why dont you make a trip up North Maharashtra. Try Sangli, Satara or Kolhapur area. There were a lot of them running around there. You can still see some engines lying around in garages. I am sure you can pick one up for much cheaper. I never asked so dont know for sure.

As a commuter in Bangalore you are better off with a Splendour. The noise, pickup and smoke it throws out wont be appreciated on our croweded streets.

As a tourer, you might get 60-70 kmpl but whats the point if you arrive dog tired and fatigued.

Oh and for real cold mornings keep some firewood at home. We actually used to burn a small fire below the sump to get it started. Was used by one of the farmers back in our village.

I didn't know they made them even until 98. The most important thing in this bike is actually the papers. I dont think you can get it cleared at the RTO now. I was offered a really good bike for 12k but dropped the idea because I would not get a FC for it.

While at my mech last evening, there was a deisel bullet there. Its actually a 1959 body (complete) with a deisel engine. Looked really nice.

For guys who are looking to buy deisel bullets in bangalore, check Broadway near Shivajinagar, I see at least one of these for sale most of the time there.

Cheers

how about you fit the tata ace 2-cylinder engine? the vibrations will be less and the performance will be more. of course its going to take a lot of work but i feel its worth it.
