re: Premji's Tyre Plus (Thane, Mumbai)

Got the Wheel Alignment/balancing/tyre rotation done at Premji's over the last weekend. Costed Rs 800/-. As usual it was treat to talk to Mark, suggested him to start posting on the forum esp in the Tyre section as he is T-BHPian himself, his handle is hitman. He was unable to post as he didnt have the required access rights to do so.

@wow - unfortunately could not meet you. Hope your son is doing well now.

@amidoc - Nice meeting you mate. Hope the Laura issues are resolved.

re: Premji's Tyre Plus (Thane, Mumbai)

Got new Michelin tyres for my car yesterday; Mark pushed me to go for them over Yokohama. Mark also told me about green features, safety and higher mileage. Nitrogen was filled by default, though I was not very keen on this (based on feedback in threads here). Also got wheel alignment and balancing done.

I was on original Goodyear, which served me for over 33,000 km. I noticed a clear improvement in ride quality with Michelins.

Mark told me that service stations do not have the capacity to do wheel alignment and balancing at the time of service. They bill the customers even if they have not really done it! Any comments on this?

Yes, I myself have experienced this. Had given the car to TATA service for alignment as my car was pulling to the left, they did charge me and gave me a printout of the wheel alignment data. On driving the car, there was absolutely no difference in the left pulling concern. Did not bother taking it up with them.

Had been to Premji's in first week of December, the job was done very professionally and to my satisfaction.

So its always better to leave such jobs to the specialists!

I also tend to believe Mark, because I've never received report of wheel alignment and balancing done at service centers; and they charge Rs. 800. In fact, Linkway Honda, Chandivali did a shoddy job of car wash during last servicing and charged around Rs. 500 for it. I've decided that whenever I give car for service, I'll explicitly tell them not to do wheel balancing/alignment and washing.

Did you go for the XM2, what was the charge for tyres? Did you get any price for the old tyres?

Regarding WA/WB, the service stations are not equipped with the correct equipments, they get it done from outside and dont provide the readings along with the bill. Thats the reason I prefer going to Premji's whereatleast I get a print out of the readings. Recently when I had gone for the WA/WB at Premji's, forgot to tell the chaps to do tyre rotation but they had done it as a normal procedure.

I was at Premjis to fill nitrogen yesterday evening. Saw nearly 8-10 CNG tanks in stock. Boy CNG fitment is in full swing!

Hi womanonwheels!
Mr. Premji told me that you are using only Closed loop kits, priced at 29,000.
No offence ment, but could you just cross-check!

re: Premji's Tyre Plus (Thane, Mumbai)

Got a new Goodyear + wheel balancing & alignment done at Premji's for my Figo last month. I met Mark and told him that I got reference from Team-BHP.

They are very unlike other service centers / garages where customers are not allowed in the work area. I was practically standing all the time with the guys who were working on my Figo's balancing / alignment. Guess Mark would have realized that I am a car nut hence didn't object

Overall, it was a nice experience, I would recommend it to fellow BHP-ians.

re: Premji's Tyre Plus (Thane, Mumbai)

I have a not so good experience in Premji Thane and will advice caution in money matters with Mark.

My jeep was running on Pirellis 31 10.5 R15 and needed to be changed for the monsoons.

So i read all the good reviews in this thread and contacted Mark. He was very well spoken and gave me the directions to his shop. So i visited his shops and asked for options, I had geolanders in my mind but he insisted on Michelins and downplayed all other brands. He was clearly biased towards Michelins.

Michelins Latitude cross was quoted at Rs 9800/piece and was the most expensive of the lot but since i was looking for the best mix of offroad and onroad tyres ( my usage of 70% onroad and 30% offroad) michelins fitted the requirements well and i purchased the tyres from him and paid him all the money. Till here, it was smooth dealing.

Now for my old pirelli's he suggested i keep it there because Kurla guys visit him every sunday to buy old tyres. I enquired how much will i get for my Pirelli's and he siad that he will know the exact rates only on sunday and will contact me.
So sunday came and Mark called and informed that we are getting get Rs 400/ tire and i am entitled for Rs 1200.
I thought was less but anycase i dint have any use of them so i agreed. Then he said that he will keep 25% of the sale proceeds as his commission for which again i agreed.

To my surprise when i went to collect the Rs 1200 money from him, he blatantly went back on his words and said it was Rs 100/tire and i am entitled only for Rs 300 instead of the agreed Rs 1200.

I just cant believe he gave these tyres for Rs 100. has anyone sold tyres before ?

Its one thing to be a cheesy seasoned salesman but I feel cheated and will probably never visit him again.

re: Premji's Tyre Plus (Thane, Mumbai)

Just a thought:

Mark would have promised dozens of customers that he will call them on Sunday to tell them the rate for the old tyres. Maybe he just confused you with someone else?

A tyre showroom is a busy place for an owner and maybe he mixed up.

Someone with a good reputation and running a clearly successful business will not risk his reputation(knowing you are a TBHPian) for a measly 1000/ bucks.

I could be wrong but I am just voicing my opinion here.

No, I dont think so. even if he mistook me for someone else, when i reminded him about the Pirellis and michelins, he should have got it.

And there is no way, those tyres are worth Rs 100 only. Smaller car tyres sell for lot more. Has anyone sold their old tyres at premji Thane ?

Sorry. I confused you with the previous poster. He mentioned that he told Mark he got the reference trough TBHP.

Well, bad luck to you I guess. I hope he answers his phone or calls you back and resolves it.
