I have a high idling issue on my vento tdi but it is intermittent. Sometimes when you start it is OK but after you run a bit it increases, sometimes it is right from the beginning, sometimes it is normal. Was it the same for you?

Yes, it was totally intermittent, sometimes it would show up right after a cold start, sometimes while crawling in traffic, it was very annoying as the whole NVH levels went for a toss when it happens.
Do try the method I have posted, it has solved the problem in my case.Hope it helps.

Change this 0w20 by say 7500 km max don’t try to stretch for a full 15k

Next time try vw504/507 0w30 or 5w30 instead which is what most people who don’t prefer 0w20 use and have used for years on this and related vag engines.

That 0w20 will detiriorate to the extent that your oil life indicator will tell you that you’ve lost upto a litre of oil by the time you cross that mark, if that happens don’t top up fresh oil, just change. Or as I said proactively change at 7500.

Sure, very valid input . In any case I would be closely monitoring the consumption and colour of the oil over the year. In case of any deviations, will change it altogether.
