I hope they have focussed on fixing niggles and ironing out the mileage issues as well. While fixing the design is a "nice-to-have" thing, even without it, the polarizing design did have its share of fan following especially in certain parts of the country.

Re: Mahindra KUV100 : Official Review

Mahindra should get rid of the "6th seat" at the front and provide a proper handbrake in the facelift model.

Re: Mahindra KUV100 : Official Review

There is no middle ground for Mahindra's designs and designers. It's either a dead donkey or an outlandish bird. People are curious in the beginning for both but then they walk away and get some thing they can live with.

Re: Mahindra KUV100 : Official Review

Finally Mahindra realized that on a small vehicle like KUV100 overdone styling, cuts and creases and the rear door handle location which limits the visibility were not the right. The car has it's advantages like long travel suspension, flat floor on the second row, armrest in both rows, good driving position and very drivable diesel engine.

KUV was a shameless copy of Ssangyong Tivoli, but to make it small and funky MnM screwed it further.

Hope they come up with some more European design.

Update from ACI on the upcoming changes in the KUV100.

Mahindra is set to focus on improving its styling with the crossover featuring a cleaner design and a redone tailgate, a departure from the oddly proportioned current model.

What I can not understand if they are only talking about the tailgate, or more. As only that, is not going to help much. Lets see what they come up with.

Mahindra's KUV1OO face-lift makes its appearance!

At the front, the bumper gets revised air intakes and fog lamp enclosure. The chrome braces in the grille look bigger, while the pulled back headlamps that stretch to the A-Pillar now appears to extend up till the edge of the LED DRLs. The rear bumper has been tweaked with toned down creases towards the wheel arches, and the detailing of the taillamp is new.

Re: Mahindra KUV100 : Official Review

The only real way to salvage this is to make it longer, with a rear quarter glass, perhaps an extra row of seats or a bigger boot (maybe both, like third row seats that fold flat), to even out the too tall proportions. The KUV also desperately needs bigger wheel arches, with 16 inch wheels minimum. Or maybe 15s with higher profile rubber.

The key to the SUV look is big wheels and a wide track. Mahindra lost the plot when they settled for tiny 14 inch wheels in the original KUV. Even the base model needs to look the part. Just take a look at the base Scorpio LX. Sans cladding, the stock wheels are in line with the body line.

Re: Mahindra KUV100 : Official Review

I dont know how you can improve an ugly ducking like this one. Even if we were to forget about the looks, what is Mahindra going to do about the basics. Just read the "What you wont" list from tbhp official review. The engineering on this car is pretty piss poor.

What you won't:

• Overdone styling! The side profile, in particular, is weird
• Handling, NVH & braking are all poor at 100+ kph. Engines also lack punch on the highway
• Electric steering is horribly calibrated. Very vague, with inconsistent weight at speed

• It's not a 6-seater. That seating position is cramped & unsafe
• Useable space in the boot is much lesser than its on-paper spec would have you believe

Re: Mahindra KUV100 : Official Review

Mahindra is said to be launching a new variant of the KUV100 targetted at fleet
operators—The KUV100 Trip based on the pre-facelift K2 model.

The KUV100 trip will come with diesel and in a first for Mahindra, a petrol-CNG option. Mahindra looks to be following the same strategy as Maruti, Hyundai, and Toyota who are selling previous generation/pre-facelift models in the commercial segment.

On a side note, not commenting about the success/failure of the KUV, but it seems to have some share of the Ola/Uber market in Bangalore and Chennai, and the self-drive market (Drivezy/Zoomcar).

Re: Mahindra KUV100 : Official Review

I would like to "report" of an incident that happened with me while traveling in a OLA KUV100.

I opened the rear left door of the car and got in, upon closing the door, the door handle came off!

I remember of not being in any bad mood or agitated for pulling it hard. The driver instructed me to place it back and see if the window button was working fine.

Fearing the worst, I put it back in place and like plug and play electronics it worked!

Is there a way I can fit a 2 DIN music system on my KUV 100 K4? It is a petrol 2016 model vehicle.

The mildly camouflaged test mule of the KUV100 is said to have been spotted in Mumbai and based on the images it appears to be based on the top-end variant of the facelifted KUV100, or as Mahindra calls it, KUV100 NXT. The car doesn't seem to come with any cosmetic changes and neither do we expect to see any mechanical updates.
Quote:
Based on these images, the AMT version of the Mahindra KUV100 comes with a high-mounted gear shift lever, similar to the manual version of the car, which allows the carmaker to continue with its six-seater configuration. Except for the AMT gear lever, the rest of the cabin of Mahindra KUV100 AMT looks unchanged. Mahindra KUV100 AMT is expected to see no change in engine options.

Re: Mahindra KUV100 : Official Review

I often feel there is something wrong with my KUV 1.2 petrol transmission. Reason is in traffic and under low revs I find this car so unpredictable, shaky and vibrating. The throttle response in traffic conditions is so erratic and jerky. Anyone feels similar? I never got a chance to test an another kuv to give my machine a fair chance.
