Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

Hi All, I received the following message from Skoda, asking me to renew the JioDongle Access

Quote:
Your subscription for My Skoda Connect Dongle (Powered by Jio) will expire on 10-Feb-2025. To continue enjoying these services uninterrupted, you can contact your nearest Skoda dealership for renewing the subscription before 10-Feb-2025
Has anyone else received this message? It has been functioning normally without any renewals for over three years, so I'm curious about the change. The Skoda dealership is quoting a renewal fee of 3k per year. Since the current app only provides voltage status, trips, and basic events, I don't see the value in spending 3k for such minimal information.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

Hi all
I am once again facing the irritating noise from the back doors while driving in slow speeds

Around 6 months back I had escalated and the Service centre had said they cleaned the beeding
It had arrested the noise for couple of months, but has started coming back

Of late it's become worser, not only while going over speed breakers but while driving slow as well

Has anyone faced this, and got a permanent fix ?

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

The updated Octavia now with all-wheel drive for global markets.

› The Octavia 4×4 is available as hatchback and estate with a 2.0 TSI engine delivering 150 kW (204 hp), paired with a seven-speed DSG transmission

› Orders for the updated Octavia 4×4 are now open, with deliveries to the first customers starting within weeks.

Quote:
Powerful 2.0 TSI petrol engine delivering 150 kW (204 hp)
The new 2.0 TSI engine delivers 150 kW (204 hp), an increase of 10 kW (14 hp) over its predecessor, and comes with all-wheel drive as standard. It is exclusively paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission, generating a maximum torque of 320 Nm. High-pressure fuel injection at 350 bar and variable valve lift optimise its performance.
As well as being powerful, the engine is highly efficient. By adjusting valve timing in low-load conditions, it lowers the compression ratio, reducing fuel consumption.
The Octavia 4×4 hatchback accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, while the estate version achieves the sprint in 6.7 seconds. Both variants have a top speed of 228 km/h.

Advanced all-wheel drive for optimal traction and control
The Octavia’s all-wheel drive system is managed by an electrohydraulically controlled inter-axle multi-plate clutch, supported by sensors that continuously monitor driving conditions. The control unit calculates and applies the optimal power distribution, allowing up to 100% of torque to be redirected to the rear axle in ideal conditions. If all wheels have equal traction, the inter-axle clutch distributes torque up to a maximum of 50:50 between the front and rear axles. The torque transfer between the axles is further optimised by the electronic EDS and XDS systems.

An advanced multi-link rear axle ensures precise wheel control, enhancing handling, safety, and ride comfort. The all-wheel drive system also increases towing capacity to up to 1,900 kg with a braked trailer.
Design Selections and availability
The Octavia 4×4 is available with Essence, Selection Loft, Lodge, Lounge, Suite, and Sportline Design Selections. Customer orders are now open, with deliveries starting in the coming week.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

Hi all,
Is it ok to replace Octavia L&K tyres with 205/55 R16
Particularly the rim size seems to be smaller than stock ones

Any safety considerations before choosing this, thanks

Just curious, why do you want to downsize from 17" to 16"?

I don't want to
When I check for possible options in tyresnmore or any such sites I only get the 16' options listed, hence my question

Thanks

Probably I will go with 215/55 R17 instead of going for smaller Rim size

Has anyone used Continental UC4

Thanks

Sorry, no mods yet
By August mine will be 3 years old, so definitely looking for recommendations to switch shoes

Considering Continental UC6 215/55 R17 as of now

Other than that the annoying noise from back door panels keeps popping up while going slow over speed breakers etc
I don't know if you guys have done some door dampening to stop this

Will be interested to hear from other owners on theirs mods as well

In my opinion, you should consider 225/50/R17, considering your car has 7J rims, and these will fit absolutely fine. Apart from Continental, you can consider the Michelin Primacy Series if you are looking for extra comfort or the Pilot Sport Series if you want to add a bit of stiffness due to the different rubber compound.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

I recently had an issue with rat bites on few wires in the engine bay. Had to replace 3 connectors and 7 or 8 wires with the total costing around 18k including labor. Has anyone else faced this issue and tried a repellent spray or ultrasonic device? I saw the recommendations in the other dedicated thread here: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...dvice-123.html (Rat damage to cars | Protection, solutions & advice)

I wanted to hear from fellow Octavia owners. If someone has tried and succeeded with installation of device, I'd appreciate it if could you please share product name and image of the installed device for reference.

Suggestions for other remedies are also welcome!

As I understand, we just need to download the files from Skoda’s Update Portal after entering our VIN and put them on a usb drive and install them in the car via usb.

This is the website - https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/

Michelin PS 4 is at 15k and PS5 at 17k (as per Tyresnmore), that's expensive

I also see Pirelli cinturato P7 at 14k
Any idea on these

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

I recently came across this issue in my Octavia 2021, sometimes the steering feels that it's stuck or it has sudden small twists and feels that the car is steering itself automatically. It is petrifying when it happens as it feels like the car is either stopped supplying power to steering, or it is automatically moving or springing.

It also creates a light screeching sound, feels like steering is rubbing against something with small vibration.

Has anyine felt the same?
I have come to Ooty from Bangalore and noticed this around 2/3 of thejourney in before the hairpin bends even started.

I'm afraid that it doesn't fail me anywhere and I end up losing control of steering wheel.

I also felt the shuddering issue where the epm seems to be hovering around 2-3K rpm and not going up even on throttle for few seconds.

Can anyone suggest if these are dangerous and what can be done to fix it?
