Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I am planning to buy the XUV700 Diesel AT AWD. I live in Bangalore, and I believe this forum is well aware of the traffic challenges we face daily. My decision to buy a diesel vehicle is more psychological than financial. I’m comfortable with paying a bit more upfront to keep the daily running costs low. Additionally, I want to avoid frequent trips to the fuel pump.

In the long run, my usage will be primarily within the city—around 90%-95% city driving. I cannot guarantee highway drives every month or two. Could someone please advise how concerning the "DPF Filter Clogging" issue would be under such usage conditions?

Secondly, once the DPF filter is cleaned through the regeneration process, how many more kilometers (in Bangalore conditions) would it take for it to get clogged again? I’m trying to gauge how often I would need to repeat this process.

Just for information, currently I am driving Ecosport diesel since 6 years with absolutely no hassles of any kind. I just need to upgrade because the current car is manual and I want something bigger and better.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi Everyone!

Been trying to get a Hold of the CSD price list for the XUV in Hyderabad. Apparently only one dealer deals with the CSD (Ranigunj) and they have been unresponsive despite multiple attempts . Could someone please share the CSD price list and hopefully another dealer I can contact?
Much appreciated

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Mostly my usage pattern in the last year and half. Only 2 times, I got the DPF Clogging notification and only once I had to do the manual "Park" regen (which took about 15 mins). Admittedly, some of my drives out of the city might have automatically triggered the "Active" regen. IMHO, it hasn't been a deal breaker for me.

My Ax7 AWD is primarily being used within city limits with a daily run of around 30 KM. I also take my vehicle for 1 or 2 out of city runs on weekends in a month.
The ODO as of now stands at 38k, I have never faced any kind of DPF issues whatsoever till date.

Mahindra XUV700 Review-screenshot_20211129133841_whatsapp.jpg

Remember this image from 2021 where this "suspected" niggle was spotted on a test car but eventually turned out to be a non-luxury variant? Well we are now facing the exact same issue in the exact same door in our barely 3k run AX7L P AT now. Since last week, whenever the car is locked after being unlocked, the rear left door gets locked but the handle still doesn't close properly, it will remain slightly popped out. A very light touch on it and it "tucks" in straight away.

What can be the supposed issue? Got that particular area properly cleaned but still the issue persists. Gonna take it to service center the coming weekend but has anyone else faced this issue

2. Mudflaps (750/- at the dealership)
3. Side step (24,000/- at the dealership)
4. Sun Shades (2700/- at the dealership)
From dealership, I got
- screenguard for 990
- mudflaps for 800
- normal scuff plates 4 door piece for 1390 and 1 tailgate for 2590
- sd card (only for AX7L) for 1000

I haven't got sidestep, but did enquire at JC road (IIRC at Nitin automobiles) for around 7-8k of (IIRC) MTek brand, which I found good and VFM. I will decide for it based on experience over few months.

Aftermarket, I got
- 6-piece sunshades for 1200 at auto world nearby (please search in maps).
- From the same place, 5-piece 7D floor mats of brand 'neodrift' (black with black stitching) for 7k.
Some more details on my Earlier post (Mahindra XUV700 Review) too.

1. Does he need to go with dealership for all these or do we have good alternates in the aftermarket? If so can you please give online URL or address of the store (my friend is from Bangalore)
As I understand, the screenguard will have to be from dealership, rest everything can be aftermarket I guess. Also, in case, your friend opt for illuminated scuff plates, I read, it is good to get it from dealership as it needs to fiddle with wiring, and can affect warranty otherwise.

This door handle not going back in was a major peeve with me too in the inital days. Randomly, door handles would be seen unretracted while driving in the rear view mirrors, and my OCD would make me get out of the car, push it back in place and continue driving. Much to the amusement +/- chagrin of the passengers.

A bit of trial and error showed that the handle needs to be pressed from the rear part for it to come out and go back in normally on releasing.

If it's being operated by pushing the front part in, it'll still pop out & open the door as usual but it won't retract back on its own once released.

Havn't had any popped door handle in my rear view mirrors since then.

See if this solves the issue.

Thank you so much for the response, will definitely try this out and update accordingly.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Quick update on availability of burnt sienna. I had a burnt sienna AXL7 AWD booking since July. Finally got an update from the dealer that burnt sienna production has been postponed to start in mid September and availability could be end of September or early October. Based on the update, I have switched to Napoli black since I wanted my car sooner. According to him, Forest Green production and dispatches have started in August. Just wanted to share this in the group since some of you were anxiously waiting for this color like me.

I am not an owner of XUV700, but maybe this answers your question. If one of the two struts of the tailgate is powered, and the other is a gas strut, the tailgate will bend. Either make both gas-powered (you lose the locking benefits) or retrofit a motorized strut on the other side as well. This is an issue with all cars, even Toyota.

Good thing is none of them are powered. The silver lining of not having a powered tail gate I suppose.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I recently took test drive of AX7L Diesel manual for a distance of 10 kms which I usually travel on. These roads are full of big potholes and some road construction work which has deteriorated the road surface to such an extent that it feels like small off-road track.

Below are my observations from the short drive and some questions regarding these observations:
  1. Clutch did not feel hard for first 2 kms and I felt I could live with manual transmission. After this the clutch started to feel hard and made me travel back in time to hard clutch experience I had with my Polo diesel manual. This feels like a deal breaker for me as my left leg started to feel bad after 30 minutes of driving.
  2. I kept hearing suspension noise inside the cabin when going over potholes at speeds over 10 kmph. The test drive car had 10k on the odometer and was 2023 model. Can anyone who has taken the car in past 3-4 months provide feedback if suspension noise is still present and is it livable?
  3. The brake bite was sharp as I was unable to gauge the biting point. I feel this will get better as I get accustomed to the vehicle if I decide to take the plunge.
  4. The video quality provided by ORVMs in the mid when I put on the side turn indicators was grainy and did not have lot of clarity. The camera feed shown in the middle of the mid gets hidden behind steering when I have to turn the steering wheel. The blocked view of mid from steering made the blind view monitor in the mid not so useful for me. I ended up looking for incoming traffic from back in the IRVM, side ORVM and also glance through the window before making a decision.
  5. 360-degree camera came handy in couple of tight spots where I had to navigate due to incorrectly parked vehicles on the roadside. This is making consider AX7L instead of AX7 variant. Has anyone retrofitted third party 360-degree camera on AX7 variant? If yes, then how is the tuning of third party 360-degree camera?
  6. There is some lag in 3D view mode of 360-degree camera. I may use 3D mode only in very tight spaces. Examples of such situation from my past are - To gauge road ends on narrow 2 lane roads which barely accommodate 2 cars, passing by car from opposite direction when another car is parked incorrectly on the roadsides. I see 3D view getting used by me only when the car is under 10-15 kmph.
  7. I am not an audiophile but got to test the audio system after SA pushed me to hear some music. The Sony sound system did not feel great. The JBL sound system provided in Tata cars sounded better with the same music.
  8. EPB with auto hold worked seamlessly even in the manual transmission. The brakes were auto applied when car stopped at red signal, and I didn't have to keep the brakes pressed. The center console felt less cluttered due to EPB.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Folks, where do you fill your Petrol from? And what kinda grade?

Mine's a 2022 BS6 Petrol. Been filling only from Shell for the past 2 years but Shell is not there in all places when the vehicle is in outskirts. How's HP or IndianOil? And does it make any difference to go with normal / power?

Indianoil for both petrol and diesel because of reward points on my credit card, no other reason. Other pumps are equally good, everyone does quality checks. Just go to a pump that's is popular in the area. I'll avoid shabby pumps .
