Resale value is going to be very poor for all EVs. You can sell it at a good price when it is almost new but after a couple of years and 20k plus kms, expect a big hit. If you plan on selling it after 6 to 7 years then expect an extremely low amount. On the positive side, resale value is very low for all vehicles after 7 years and you would have saved quite a bit on fuel during this time.

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

Last night I faced an issue with my odo showing SOC%. Usually on my trip back from office to home, I consume 6-7% of SOC. Yesterday it was around 12% of SOC which was very unusual. I charged my car at home from 33% to 56% overnight. In the morning when I came to office again, today throughout the 25 km journey, my odo was still showing 56%. This has got me worried. Has this happen with anyone here?

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

Hello friends,
My Excite has reached the dealer.Delivery expected by Saturday. In the mean time is it possible to change all the halogens to led.The following are the non-led bulbs used.
Reverse lamp - W16W 16W
Rear direction indicators - WY6W 16W
License Plate/Interior lamp - w5w 5w
Load space lamp- C10W 10 W.
Philips W5W 5W led is available readily.
So please suggest where I can get the other items. Also will the dealer do the fitting or does it void warranty?

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

After 6 months long wait, I got a ZS Excite version allocated. And, the dealership calls me y'day to tell me that the color that I had booked (Silver) is not available! And, only a white version is coming in Excite, everywhere. I had cancelled another booking that I was holding for an ICE car to go ahead with Excite and.. now this!! :(

Other folks who had booked Excite - Is this true on your end too?

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

I finally received my MG ZS EV Exclusive (Candy White) after a long long wait. Having completed 1000km in 3 weeks, here are my thoughts:

Booking and Delivery
  • Test of patience. Total 8 months end to end, from booking in early March (within 2 days of 2022 model launch) till delivery in early November!! I did countless searches for alternatives during this time. Almost booked a used Kia Seltos (thankfully the cars24 guy never showed up for test drive, otherwise I’d have lost on MG EV experience).
  • Good dealership experience. It was frustrating radio silence from them all through waiting period with not a single update. However, once the vehicle was allotted, they were constantly in touch, providing updates and processing financials.
  • Availed SBI Green Loan at fixed interest rate of 8.2% over 7 years. Dealer has good connections in one SBI branch, and overall process was hassle free. Immediate disbursement within 4 hours!
  • Traded in my Toyota Corolla and this is my *only* car now. Taking a full dive headfirst into the EV space . Between Corolla offer price + SBI loan, total was surplus than car amount. Dealer issued refund within 10 days of delivery
  • Bought Acko insurance from outside. Paid 60k with zero dep and return to invoice, compared to 124k quoted by dealer (policy from ICICI Lombard). No pressure from dealer to buy their insurance, they were cool with outside purchase.
  • Declined MG Shield, since EV won’t require many schedule servicing costs (hopefully). Again, no hassle from dealer about this and they did not push for any unnecessary accessories.

Home Setup
  • Home charger installation was very professionally done by the agency.
  • My parking is in podium space and pulling a connection from meter room in the tower meant digging through a concrete road.
  • I had to manage things like society NOC, labor for digging a trench, piping and closing up civil work. On their part, MG installation crew were very professional and quality of work was clean.
  • Important to note - distance from my meter to parking space turned out to me 99 meters. MG covered the cost of full length high grade copper cable, no questions asked.
  • Be advised that MG will *not* install 7kw charger if distance is more than 100 meters - they cite reasons related to voltage drop or something, I got lucky.
  • Charger installation also required upgrading a connection from breaker box to my meter at my own cost - but in the end MG folks supplied me with the same grade cable which was surplus from another installation site.

I’m very grateful for their guidance, quality of materials and quality of workmanship!

Driving Experience is serene. Enough has been written about silent drive, soft suspension and (very) high tyre pressure. I agree with them and won’t repeat them here.
  • I have reasonably adapted my driving style and can extract around 6.5km/kwh in city driving conditions (normal mode + regen level 3 + AC at 22 degrees).
  • On highways, cruise control is your friend and must be used at every opportunity possible. It’s so light footed compared to a human being, efficiency easily goes up between 9 to 11 km/kwh. (normal mode + regen level 1 + AC at 22 degrees + 4 passengers onboard). Huge difference!
  • 90kmph on expressway feels very slow!! Even my wife asked if I was babysitting this new car or preserving range by going slow - only to realize I was going at 100kmph at that moment!
  • I’ve bought MG official sunshades at time of delivery. They’re quite effective in blocking direct sunlight and will hopefully improve efficiency of A/C cooling. They’re easily detachable and can be stored on real parcel tray without much hassle.

Major Irritants
  • Lack of auto-dimming IRVM is frustrating (especially coming from Corolla which had a damn good one).
  • Moreover, I’m yet to find a right setting even using manual IRVM.
  • My observation is that panoramic sunroof even with sunshade closed still lets in enough light to make dimming mode quite useless.
  • Happy to take guidance if someone has figured this out.
  • Still haven’t managed to find a comfortable driving position! I’m 5’ 11’’ and healthy build (ahem). I face multiple issues
  • Under thigh support is terrible. Back thigh hurts after ~50km drive, especially if you’re trying to use light foot
  • Raising seat height improves pain in right leg, but starts blocking my vision. IRVM control box is quite big and creates this issue
  • Lastly, lack of steering reach adjustment makes it worse. This car’s driving position set up reminds me of my Fiat Punto. It had exact same problems (office T-BHP review called it Designed for Long armed Italians )

Very positive experience so far in this brief period, and looking forward to munching many a miles with it. Next up - long trip planned from Pune to Bangalore.

Yes. Only whites coming in for now for Excite but I expect MG to start offering silver soon. Otherwise they wouldn't have offered it as a color in the first place.

Hi. I dont own a zs ev but i do own a nexon ev and this is normal as far as nexon ev is concerned. Your car got charged more than 56% and the bms hasnt updated that. Only when you charge 100% the cell balancing takes place and you get to see the real charge % of the battery. Also it will be healthy if you charge to full 100% most of the times instead of doing nominal charge of 20 to 30% at a time thats what most of the NEV owners are advised as optimal for LFP batteries.

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

I am having the following queries about zs ev:

1)Is there an option to turnoff auto headlight mode at start. At my basement parling whenever the vehicle is started the headlight turns on and has to switch off manually.

2)Is there an option to turn off traction control?I am not able to find it in settings.

3)The physical switch to turn on/off AC needs to be pressed longer to activate/deactivate.Nothing happens in a single click. Is this the way it is supposed to work?

1) Haven't explored this but do check the vehicle settings on ICE if there's an option.

2) No. There is no option to turn it off. Many auto journalists also mentioned this in their reviews.

3) That's correct. Not sure why though

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

A question to those who drive their ZS EV in Mumbai, is the ride better than the Nexon ev? I'm looking for a comfortable EV and would appreciate feedback from existing ZS owners who've also driven the Nexon Max/Prime variant.

I own both nexon ev max jet and mg zs ev exclusive. The ride quality of the nexon ev is way ahead of the mg ev.

Thanks for your feedback. I’m sold for the zs due to its better build but since I drive on mumbai roads, I’ll be checking the Nexon today.

Having seen so many Tata ASC horror stories from members, I know MG is better than Tata, how’s your experience with the Nexon service?

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

Nexon ride quality is way better but mg is not that bad. For service mg is much better than tata. The mg is much more spacious than nexon has longer range and more features with 6 airbags. Both are good but the mg feels and is 1 segment higher than the nexon.
The nexon has ventilated front seats and autodimming irvm which the mg does not have. If budget is not a constraint then go for the mg.

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

Got the Nexon Ev Max Jet 7.2 on 27th September and MG Zs Ev Exclusive on 27th October. I have installed 46 Solar panels on my house rooftop total 15 Kw ongrid power plant so I don't have electricity bill. Charging is free for the Evs. Saving almost 40k per month due to no electricity or fuel bills. Will recover cost of solar power plant in 2 years.
