What makes it even more special is this is a 2nd Jan 2024 manufactured car! As per the dealer, I am the first person to get a '24 manufactured car in the city.

This is my first automatic and I'll surely be updating all of my experiences and miles out here super soon.
It's been a while and out of the 3 weeks I've had the car, it has spent most of its time at various places but home but today finally I am done with 'setting it up' and the car has come home to me and I can finally enjoy driving it!

Sharing below a few things that I've gotten done over the weeks.
1) Garware PPF
- Getting the surface ready on a car just out of the showroom. Kinda hurt tbh lol since it was all shiny and scratch-free but a few swirls were there.

- Installing the PPF, unfortunately, I did not take any other pics or videos but I did oversee the whole process which was painful seeing all the emblems and tail lights and garnish being removed. God damn.

- Final outlook!

2) Damping on doors
This was only done to better the NVH levels and boy has it made a difference!
Might dampen the bonnet and floor too in the future.

Chose to go with 2-layer damping for the doors.
- Torq 2mm on the inside, wanted to go with Morel yellow series but the installer being a good friend suggested this instead claiming much better heat and melting resistance so I trusted him.

- Morel 3 layer Acudamp 4.5mm

3) Seats
Initially, I was not going to get the seats done as I like fabric better than PU leather but since the car was so light the fabric started to stain just within 2-3 days of bringing the car home and I hate seeing dirty seats so had to get this done.

- Customized fit 'heavy nappa leather'? There were other options like 'just nappa' roma leather, durban leather, royal touch and whatnot but I loved the feel and texture of this leather better than the others.
Old fabric cloth was removed and parts of it like velcro were retained and stitched on the new seats giving it a superior fit which is called customized fit which is better than bucket fit where only the fabric is cut and not removed.
The original design was retained. The biggest plus point was this seat was stitched right in front of me from scratch.

Other things I got done was Ceramic coating on all mirrors including the sunroof.
- Nappa leather stitched on the boot floor mat.
- 7d mats

Planned for the future is LED light upgrade (stock is just horrible), fog lamp installation, speaker upgrade and footwell lights.

Now time to enjoy driving this machine worry-free!

I had been out of station in my Kushaq, when some misfortune literally struck my new Verna which is only 3 months and 2900 Kms young! It was standing idle in my garage, when a window pane from a nearby commercial buidling crashed down due to some loose fitting and one of the pieces struck the side with some great force to cause a dent. Luckily the PPF resisted it and so paint damage is prevented, but there is a ding. I am attaching some pics here. It is not a major one, but for a car maintained spotlessly it does look like an eye sore or maybe it is my OCD moment ! And the bummer is that it did not even happen on the road but where it was supposed to be secure. I am getting the neighbour to extend their grill and will also fortify my garage with a grill!

The three options I can think of now regarding these dings are

1. Leave it as it is like a "Evil eye warding dot"

2. Get it sorted with Hyundai at the next service due in 9 months! But the PPF might have to be reapplied and that will set me back by at least 5K!

3. Got a detailing session with PPF dealer in April and he said he could apply similar colour at that "spot" which will kind of mask it.

Ironically, I got a few such dings on my Skoda Kushaq, but I am not that bothered though it is also only 2 year old! Maybe since it is a crossover, it does not look odd on it and it anyway has a more butch look than the Verna which looks classy! The classy sedan looks lead me to OCD moments! Thankfully did not buy costlier sedans !

Any inputs and guidance will be welcome and taken in the positive spirit

Those seats look really fab and comfortable. Job well done at least as far as looks go!

Verna is a very well rounded product from Hyundai and I’m keeping a close eye on the car. I wanted to understand, god forbid if there comes a situation where airbags in seats have to be deployed, what will happen then? The new stitching would not allow the airbags to deploy from the designated path and could it explode with in the seats and cause more damage/harm to the occupants? I’m not being spoilsport but I genuinely wanted to know because I’m eyeing either a Verna SX or Creta S (O), both come with light fabric seats.

This was my very concern as well and the very reason I sat through the entire stitching process of these seats cover at the factory.

They stitch the seat in a way where they leave an opening for the airbag to come out easily.

Any car accessory guy who has their own factory for seat cover manufacturing knows about this and stitches the seats to be compatible with airbags.
I am not sure how it works for just bucket-fitting seats but in my case where I got it custom fitted the old fabric was removed and the airbag was removed from it and then stitched onto the new leather. They use a light material thread to stitch that particular airbag area in case the airbag needs to be deployed.

3 months, that's exactly how young my Verna was when I bumped it into a tree while reversing
The car got a dent on the boot just above the Hyundai logo. However, no damage to the paint.

I also went to a couple of body repair shops and both of them explained the same process that involved repainting the entire boot and cost around 5K. I did not want to take a chance of having different shades of black on a new car.

So, I have left the dent as is, thinking similar to you, "evil eye warding dent". It doesn't look that bad.

.
Please look hard for paintless dent repair specialists in your city. Also watch youtube for paintless dent repair to see how the process is done.

I've been thinking of doing all this for my June 2023 Verna too. How much did the damping and seat covers cost?

14k for the damping and 18k for the seats.
You can save around 8k or more in total if you choose to go for different damping materials and bucket fitting for seats instead of customized.
I chose to go with top-of-the-line materials which suited my needs but other materials will suffice as well.

Excitement Unleashed: My First Team-BHP Post!

I'm thrilled to be here, sharing my first post! Just recently, I had the pleasure of purchasing a new Verna from Hyderabad, and let me tell you, it's been a ride filled with excitement!

However, being a newbie, I do have a couple of questions on my mind. Firstly, I've heard about the run-in period for new cars. While I'm itching to take my Verna out on a long drive, I want to make sure I'm doing what's best for the car. So, is it okay to go on a long drive during the run-in period? I'd love to hear your experiences and recommendations on this.

Another thing I've been curious about is when to use the 6th gear. I'm still getting used to all the features of my Verna, and I want to make sure I'm utilizing it to its full potential. Any tips or insights on when to shift into 6th gear would be greatly appreciated!

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna Review

Congrats and safe miles, seeing a lot of black verna's- looks really nice. Initially was not so sure when we booked our 2023 verna in black, but the color indeed has grown on us., except the constant need to keep her neat and shiny.

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna Review

Thank you, Xotiq. My daughter particularly wanted black, so that played a significant role in choosing the black car. Initially, I planned for a white car due to maintenance considerations. However, seeing a stylish black one on the road, I opted for it. Maintenance can be challenging in my dusty area, but I’m committed to keeping it tidy

EXACT SAME STORY.

I love the grey color on my Verna, but white would have been so much easier to maintain.

But peace at home comes at a price and its much easier to just wash the car.

Congratulations on multiple levels , from being a new member of the group, putting your first post, to acquiring the Verna. May the tribe increase!
If you are not accustomed to a 6 speed gearbox, I suggest you use the first 5 gears properly and then engage 6th after you have the confidence to take the car over, say, 70 kph. Most of the times you may not even need to engage the 6th in urban conditions or crowded state highways. But get a hang of controlling the car above 70 kph and then use the 6th gear freely. Dont worry about fuel economy, running - in ( cars are mostly run-in at the factory level) for now.
Your mastery of the car at low/ medium/high speeds is more important than a few thousand rupees difference of fuel economy over one year.
