Brezza has more comfortable suspension, much better AT, and is just the right size unless you plan to drive in extremely tight roads. I don't think Vxi model is devoid of any useful features, and if it is, I am guessing you can add them 5 years later on your own when you are able to expand your budget. I love the Brezza for its rear seat - the Fronx can't beat that - plus better boot space.

I cannot comment on the power, but the Fronx, with AGS, will be very jerky, both inside the city and especially on the highways, when you will want to push the engine. I've tried Baleno AGS with 5 people on board, and even my not-so-enthusiastic family were easily convinced. I've now got a Fronx AT and the gearbox is smooth as butter on the highway.

Also, the AT has 6 gears compared to AGS' 5 gears. Brezza's cabin will hence be much more silent at 100-120 kmph, I think.

Regarding your budget, Fronx Zeta AT is not very far, if you are concerned about highway runs. You can get 20k to 30k discount very easily if you can find a sitting stock at a dealer, and maybe even more in January. I don't see that Brezza has any discounts and in Delhi, we were being forced to buy the accessories package. But I don't think the city mileage will impress you - I've seen it go down to 8 kmpl in stop-go traffic.

Fronx AT was actually the first car I test drove but dropped it out of consideration mainly due to the following reasons:

1) AC performance was sub-par, I think could be due to aggressive cutoff under spirited driving. In contrast, Brezza was extremely comfortable throughout.
2) 3 cyl engine might become noisier and more vibrational down the line during long term ownership.
3) Suspension was very stiff at rear so much so that my mother had to shift to front seats during TD. Could be a problem with TD car as I've always heard of Fronx's suspension to be soft and well balanced.
4) Higher pricing. The only reason I considered it initially was because I wanted to stay away from DCTs due to reliability concerns.

Due to all these factors, I included Fronx AGS in my consideration list alongside Brezza AT. I know both of them are capable within city with Brezza having better and more absorbent suspension setup but highway performance is still unknown territory for me.

Maybe check with a dealership to let you take a highway drive? Since you've shortlisted within the same company, they should be able to help you. I was also skeptical about highway performance and both Nexa and Hyundai obliged. I tried to compare through Autocar performance tests but they had data only for Brezza.

AC and suspension haven't ever come across as uncomfortable to my family. We've been test driving since June with at least 3 and sometimes 5 people in the car together. My dealership did give the car with high tyre pressures, and somehow their recommended petrol pump, where I got the fuel filled theough their delivery coupon, also overinflated the tyres.

My mother also like the front seat of the Fronx better, and I think I do so too. I had remarked myself that if someone kidnapped me in the back seat of the Brezza, I would be happy there for days on end.

I have recently got home (3rd Nov) Fronx 1.0 At Alpha. So far have done close to 700KM on it, including 260KM of highway drive with 3 people onboard and not once anyone complained about the AC being ineffective or suspension being stiff. On the contrary, passenger sitting in the back seat asked me to increase the AC temperature slightly because it was too cold for him when I had set the temperature to 20*c and outside temperature was around 36*c.

Regarding stiff suspension I have got the chance to drive baleno 1.0 turbo manual(2017/18 make I guess) & Seltos multiple times and very well know what stiff suspension setup can do to the passengers, especially in city or uneven road. But not once have felt fronx suspension is anywhere to “stiff”. I’d request you to try some other dealership or if the same one can provide you with other car for long test drive then try doing that. I’m sure you’ll have a different opinion after that.

Drove my nephew's Fronx delta 1.2 manual (had run 3000km) over the weekend for about 800 km. Here is my opinion on the negatives:
1. Felt it lacks adequate power for highways. Comfortable in the 90-100kmph range to drive and for FE.
2. AC is not bad, but not great either. Wasnt adequate when the car was fully loaded and under the hot sun (North KA).
3. Subpar driver comfort for long range driving - under thigh support / padding not adequate. I am 5'9 if that matters.
4. Suspension was on the stiffer side (even when tire pressure was set to recommended 29psi) - could sense the bumps on the dug up streets, where I visited, when seated at the rear. Not like it is reaching your spine, but you can feel it when you are driving at low speeds. No issues in the front seat though.

I was ok in general with the power & AC performance, but was not happy with the seating.

This kind of experience can be got only when we drive the car for such long distances and not a short test drive.

For instance, the front suspension bush was damaged, so the car would make a metal grinding noise when the steering was turned in standstill. Had asked around in 3 dealerships and the part was not there and no one was readily willing to order it for me, and the part I got from Boodmo as well would not fit in this car. So I thought it was time for an upgrade before the car begins to rust in my garage waiting for parts.

There are many bushings, not sure which one are you referring to. Suspension parts for Brio are same as Amaze even new Amaze , or Jazz or City in some cases. Surprised that a simple part could not be easily procured.

Squealing noise are usually belts, which can be easily fixed.

Anyway that is history now, but still wanted to highlight.

Hi,

The seat belt warning beep even if the passengers are not seated is only for the rear seats as Maruti Suzuki has removed the weight sensors in the rear seats for both Fronx and Jimny. One has to simply put on the seat belts even if there are no rear passengers.

The front driver and co-driver seats have the weight sensors.

I hope 6 AT and 1.0 turbo combination is good. It was interesting to note that the 6AT has better 0-100 timings compared to 5MT in Swift (10s vs 10.6s) as per UK brochure.

I noticed in Fronx brochure that power and torque for 1.0 turbo could change as it is still under homologation testing.

I doubt 6AT is quicker than 5MT. You were probably looking at 1.2 5MT vs 1.0 6AT.

India spec turbo is rated less because of lower octane fuel (regular petrol) in India. Higher octane can deliver more power (ecu should be able to detect the octane)

What model do you have now?

Boot Light in Fronx

Hi Folks,

One major feature that was missing in Fronx Delta+ is the boot light.
I had ordered the required parts even before getting the delivery of the car.

Yesterday I opened the dummy plastic in the boot but found some wiring with sleeve and foam. But there was no connector left inside. I thought that Maruti Suzuki might have provided the connector in Delta+. See below photo:


I had thought of alternate options if the wiring or connector is not provided. Hence ordered Ikea MOLGAN which is battery operated and has Ambient light sensor and Motion sensor without any switch. I has also ordered rechargeable AAA Ni-MH batteries. There were alternates in Amazon with a Li-Ion battery option but I don't want to take risks this a Li-ion battery. There was also Ikea RAMSTA which has a switch but with the reflector for the LEDs I thought the light distribution will not be that good.



I fixed the base plate with the 3M VHB and Primer.



Later I used the double side foam on the battery plate so that there will no vibrations.

Now every time I open the boot the lamp comes on automatically because of the motion sensor.

on their YouTube channel about their “rigorous” crash tests before launching a vehicle in the market. The video shows Fronx and Brezza undergoing front and side impact tests.

Looks like BNCAP is soon going to announce crash test ratings of some of their cars.

However, I will check that it is not turning on when the car is in motion. You can record using a mobile while the car is in motion and check that in a half an hour journey, how many times did it turn on.

Also, it should be well off with normal batteries as consumption is low. Rechargeble batteries are not cost effective in rarely used items.
