Engine performance is exactly same. Only issue I see is these Yokohamas are little noisy compared to stock tyres.

I too am in similar boat.

Was planning to replace my duster with Jimny, right from the day of its launch.
But the initial high pricing kept us away from Jimny.

But the itch to own a 4x4 and recent discounts have made me rethink. Since I am getting pretty good deal on Alpha AT.
But wife is not ready to part ways with our less run duster(only 16k run). Wife and kid are spoilt with duster's ride quality and boot space, so it's difficult to convince them.

So, were you able to convince your family ?
Or you changed your plan to buy Vitara/Hyryder?

Unfortunately, my attempt to finalise a purchase decision has hit a roadblock because she strongly dislikes the appearance and compact design of the Jimny. Also, I reached out to Toyota to inquire about the Hyryder, and it turns out there's a waiting period of up to 11 months. As you rightly pointed out, the Jimny can't quite match the ride quality of the Duster.

You cannot replace the duster with this car. This will always be an addition to your existing garage unless you live high up in the mountains full time.

Yes you are right.
Jimny can't be a replacement to Duster.

This was just to fulfil my long-term desire to own a gypsy/jimny/new thar. The 6 airbags,4 doors,AT combined with 4x4 is an added bonus.
The temptation of owning a new car might subdue post few months of usage, not sure.

Since we moved to our hometown from Bangalore a year back, we get to use my parent's Ertiga and Innova Crysta whenever needed.
So Jimny will be an addition to our existing garage and 4x4 can be put to use by my father,during his frequent estate visits and by me when heart desires some off-roading.

So the main obstacle I am facing is convincing my family. Wife is not ready to part ways with Duster and father not ready to replace Ertiga (both are right in their own ways). So I am in dilemma now.

Planning to take my wife for Jimny AT test drive today and see if she changes her mind by any chance.

In a rapid development within a span of three days, we happened to finalize a Bluish Black Zeta MT and take the delivery on a day which was one of the most chaotic at my workplace! This replaces our tried & tested Alto, clocking close to 1.5 Lakh km over 15+ years and the third 4WD vehicle we have owned. Presently it is sharing the garage with our 2017 Isuzu Vcross. Never thought the Isuzu & Jimny will be parked back to back but for some period of time that appears to be the pleasant reality Drove just about 150 km after the delivery, didn't get much chance to explore the vehicle in detail. In a nutshell, this is that modern Gypsy many of us had dreamt of, having various creature comforts but retains the core DNA of the Gypsy! It shouldn't be termed as a 'family car', heck not even a 'car' as per the common conception, but the temptation of enjoying the sheer thrill of driving this well put together vehicle everyday was bit too much to resist under the ongoing discounted price proposition. The very first set of add-ons appear to be some underbody protection, which is non-existent! The stock steel wheels of the Zeta is wonderful, the stock headlights although need to be replaced at the earliest. Gear shift quality is top-'notchy' More will be shared as I get to spend a bit more time with the Zuk. One pic on the next morning after the delivery.
