If this is from NCR and knowing that there aren't many left in NCR, it is a very good discount. You can try negotiating more but only after you somehow reserve this. This will be gone soon if dealer has decided to go down to this price.

I was in conversation with one of the Nexa showroom executive and he is offering me 2023 Alpha MT model with following breakup

Negotiated price as of yesterday was 1125000.
This is a discount of 3L rupees on the OTR.
I had negotiated yesterday for 2.1L off for a 2023 Zeta MT from Nexa Daryaganj. In the process to finalise the car as well.

Nexa sec63 Noida offered me 2.5L off on the OTR for a 2023 Zeta MT, but that vehicle got booked before I could close it.

Can you share what Nexa showroom this is? Will help me negotiate a better deal for the Zeta MT.

So for city roundabout type driving, I would suggest you drive it well under its limits otherwise in the event you need to do a sharp correction (unfortunately all to common a requirement in our cities!) you will be doing a disconcerting amount of twirling! You will definitely get used to it and calibrate your inputs accordingly .
Very informative, didn't strike me that this steering play is actually meant to assist in offroad situations.

The sharp correction though will be needed more on highways than in cities where average speeds are very low (10-30 kmph). It is on highways that this character of Jimny feels like a driving risk where sudden corrections are needed at higher speeds and Jimny just didn't feel capable to do it. Maybe it is a matter of getting used to but in a highway Test Drive, this was disconcerting.

Actually, in my experience at least, the Jimny’’s steering firms up pretty nicely at higher speeds. and by higher, i mean 90’ish 😃. What you might have experienced is the body roll combined with that sharper steering. So for example, if you wiggle the wheel, the suspension starts playing catch up, which results in a gentle swaying motion. I can well imagine this being disconcerting at speeds above 100. Personally for me, it was no issue at all, even on undivided two lane state highways, where I had to do a fair bit of overtaking of slower traffic. But there is no way I would do 100k on a undivided two lane in this car (or any other, for that matter).

There are suspension upgrades available but I wouldn’t trade the fantastic ride quality for sharper handling. It is a car best enjoyed at moderate speeds, and really does put a smile on your face, which turns into an outright giggle when you show it some offroad trails 😁.

I am getting 2023 make with 2L cash discount.
That means the dealer was providing an additional 50k discount on top of 1.5L provided by Maruti, correct ?

Yes, that’s correct. Are you also looking to buy one?
Dealer has ZETA and ALPHA in stock, both manuals. AT is out of stock.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hi everyone! Newbie here. Just wanted to thank everyone over here for their wonderful opinions and reviews of every aspect of Jimny. I've learnt quite a bit just reading this thread in detail.

I do have one question for which I'm hoping for a detailed answer. My Jimny is a Zeta AT and I'm looking to install a throttle controller. I don't find the car underpowered as such, but just being greedy, I suppose . However, I'm quite unsure about the Windbooster vs EVC vs EVCX debate. Is there anyone who can give me a comprehensive comparison of the three?

For more context, I live in Dharamshala in Himachal 8-9 months out of 12, so most of the driving is in hills. Rest of the time, I switch between Delhi and Jammu. I currently don't do much off roading but would love to learn and go more if I can find some people to go with!

No one has really done a comprehensive comparison end to end. I went ahead with EVCX instead of Windbooster because Ultimate9 gives a lifetime warranty even in India through their partner.- strworks, whereas windbooster gives only 2 years warranty.

Although most throttle controllers are built at same factory, I would trust a brand QC process and commitment to customers more, that gives better warranty.

Thank you! However, the video doesn't really compare anything. It just shows the installation of the Windbooster model on the car.

This does help significantly. I would rather go with something that offers lifetime warranty than a 2 year warranty. Thank you so much.

As an aside, i remember reading a thread where the approximate price of the EVCX was mentioned as around 22k. Is that what I should expect to pay or a lower price would be possible?

I got to know that Wind Booster and EVCx are manufactured by the same company called Cammus Tech. So there is no different in both the products and they are positioned differently in various markets. Now both the products are coming with a tag of "5 door Jimmy Indian version" but literally no change in the product. The best possible price you get for wind booster is 14,000/-.

Technically all throttle controllers does the same job of giving manipulated signals to ECU and there are some cheaper options available in Amazon. I am pursuing one for long time which was priced at 10,000 INR but unfortunately it is out off stock.

After a lot of research, I understood that warranty of throttle controllers won't be of much use and every throttle controller does the same job. I have finalised on 9-Drive throttle controller from NunKun store in Amazon. It is priced at 9599 MRP. As I have a firm and I can claim GST input, I get this for 7499 plus applicable taxes.

Please find the link below if you are interested. For a long time I was confused between Wind Booster and EVCx, then I got to know that both are manufactured by same company and there is no technical difference in it.

EVCX would cost approx. 21,500+taxes while EVC would cost less, however, latest rates can be confirmed by Ajit - 99307 77800 from STRWorks.

You can mention that you are from TeamBHP for discounted rate mentioned above (or whatever is the latest price). You can also check EVC if you want to buy a lesser cost product, just that EVC won't come with Bluetooth app, and few modes such as Valet and Lock(anti-theft).

However, I am of the opinion that Bluetooth app is great as you can control EVCX from phone even without the small screen device. This especially helps when going to Nexa service centers from warranty perspective.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

This is my first post. I have finally booked Jimny. I have an Ertiga (chauffeur driven) for daily commute and highway travel with family. My wife has a Celerio (AMT) primarily meant for city driving. I was looking for a versatile go anywhere car for solo trips along with my wife. Thar RWD was my first choice. I liked the engine and the looks. When we took a test drive, we found the interiors quite cramped, no boot space and low on some basic creature comforts. The drive was bit bumpy as well. The plan to buy another car was put on hold. I was following the Thar thread in this forum and Jimny was discussed quite a bit. Even after Jimny’s launch I did pay much attention until I saw a Jimny on road in Dec. It looked good enough for me to go for a test drive. I contacted Nexa, Rajajinagar and they arranged for a test drive. I did a couple of test drives (one in city and one on state highway with rough patches). Went through the Jimny thread in the forum for hours and was fairly convinced this was the one which I was looking. The low sales number of Jimny did not bother me. I tried to get 2023 model to avail discounts. But Alpha AT was already sold out and only available ones were MT. I paid 11K as booking amount at Nexa Rajajinagar. Was offered 50,000 discount + 3000 corporate discounts + 8000 off on my accessories bill. Initially I booked Red Dual Tone and later switched to Nexa Blue. (My kids did not like red). I was told the vehicle will be in the stockyard in another 10 days. SA wanted me to pay partial amount. I refused to pay anything until I did a PDI of the vehicle. I have team-bhp PDI checklist, but request Jimny owners of a Jimny PDI if they have one. I am planning the following mods

1)Install EVCX throttle controller (Thanks to Guru and Shankar for providing all the details)
2)Change the chrome grille to matte tactical grille
3)DRLs which double up as indicators (like the ones @jackifsome has installed). Not sure where I am going get them installed in Bangalore
4)Install Farad lock nuts and remove the stepney cover.
5)The usual things like front bumper skid plate, side claddings, mud flaps.

I have not yet decided on changing stock tires (to 215 Yokohama Geo landers AT) and ceramic/PPF coating. I think I will not go ceramic/PPF coating

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

1 month and clocked about 2300KM with Jimny. Car has seen all- 4lane highways, state highway, off road with 4H/4L, city runs etc. While most of my initial impression stays, have slightly different opinion on ride quality. While its brilliant on bad stretch or at slow speeds, at higher speeds(I know Jimny struggles to do that ), there is bit more sideways movement than I prefer, especially when road surface is uneven. AC is super effective, green glass and small cabin helps. The other aspect I was wrong is the gearbox. The clutch is super light(especially after driving my Hilux MT) and gears now slot much better(though Hilux has better shift quality). The FE has been around 13-15KMPL or so overall, which is fine. As for issues, there is a rattling sound from roof above drivers seat, will get this checked at service center.

Few other updates:

- I love the front seats, very comfortable. Cushioning is perfect and offers some upper back support too.

-Swapped grille to gloss black one.

-Added center armrest for convenience. Suzuki should have provided this from factory.

-Nexa Blue is a dust magnet. Quite a task to keep it clean.

- Black bumper and wheel cladding requires bit more effort to keep clean especially after a off-road drive.

- The duelers are silent on tarmac and perform decently well off-road. Coincidentally all cars I own now have Bridgestone tires, 3 cars have duelers, 1 has Turanza and last one Ecopia.
