Good effort, but from what I can see in the pictures, the after shots show a lot more haze and lack of sharpness. Which is to be expected given the heavy abrasives in cerium oxide based glass polishes.

Piano black trim is very soft black plastic with an even softer clearcoat applied over. Just like car paint, stick to abrasives used to finish down soft car paints and you’ll get good results.

This is a before and after shot of a near new Camry key fob with the same glossy black plastic. Normally I’d use 0.25” micro pads with a rotary polisher extension but here I’ve done it by hand. APC - Menzerna 400 heavy cut - Menzerna 3000 - IPA wipe - protect. By hand it just takes a lot longer and sometimes it can be difficult to finish down perfectly. Took about 40 mins in this case.

Not perfect but a big improvement, given how thin clearcoat is, never go after deeper scratches as you risk burning through.

So, in my car, I got the driver side front suspension replaced under warranty as the seal broke due to a sharp pothole. Since then, I have been having this issue of this clattering sound under the steering wheel. I noticed that when I give a good whack under the steering wheel it appears to mellow down.
Hey there. 2019 Seltos GTX+ D AT owner here. What you guys are experiencing is probably a broken worm gear/reduction gear unit. A very common problem with Hyundai/Kia cars of the last decade. Go to an ASC at the earliest while the cars are in warranty and have it checked out in proper TD by a technician. Don't relent until they acknowledge an issue.

I have been through 2 worm gears and a whole reduction gear unit till date and paid out of pocket as my car was out of warranty. The worm gears are relatively cheap; 2.5k+labor. But the whole reduction gear unit is an expensive affair. Total bill came out to almost 19.5k.

In case of the launch spec Seltos that had a very hard suspension, this was an even worse problem as the vibrations that the harsh suspension passes onto the interior over rough roads slowly breaks away at the reduction gear. Even my Verna had one replaced in warranty.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

I am trying to finalize between Creta IVT and Seltos DCT both their top-end variants. My usage will be 70% in city and 30% long drives. I test drove both. I was able to hear engine (or gearbox) murmur from Seltos DCT. There were occassional jerks at low speeds. Creta was smooth. But I am concerned about its performance on the highway for that bus/tractor overtaking. Also, will the soft suspension be more uncomfortable to back seat passengers than the Seltos?

I could not figure out difference in road noise intrusion in both cabins (I'm talking about other vehicle noise).

Which is the safe bet?

Creta IVT user responding from personal experience... There are no issues with Creta IVT on highway runs. Our highways are full of surprises but the IVT gives you a smooth experience slowing down and then speeding up. I drive roughly 70% on Eco mode and 30% on Comfort when on highways and have faced no trouble overtaking. You can overtake any vehicle with ease and if you are still worried, you have the paddle shifters and Sports mode for rapid power delivery. You can also extract better mileage with the IVT compared to Turbo Petrol & DCT combo. The IVT will always be more reliable than DCT and comes with lower maintenance costs.

Yes DCT will give you better acceleration but everything comes at a cost. At the end, it depends on your driving style (& whether you can adjust to the more relaxed approach needed with IVT).

We have done multiple 10-12hr journeys in the Creta and the rear passengers have never complained of any discomfort. I found Seltos to be on the stiffer side meaning bad roads are felt more severely compared to the floating feel that you get with softer suspension of Creta.

Having said that, both are proven vehicles and safe bets. You just have to make a decision knowing the pros and cons .

Much appreciated and thanks in advance Black Panther. I am looking forward to get my Seltos GTX Petrol delivered this week.
Hey Shobit. Just saw your message today, not sure if you still need the checklist. Let me know on PM.
