Which side stepper are you looking for?

and, have you thought of installing another woofer or an amp to upgrade your system?
In my opinion, the 70mai Pro Plus+ A500S dual-channel (yeah, I know, a weird name) offers great value for its quality. It stands out as the best in class when considering the app experience, ease of connectivity, and retrieval of footage. Don’t go for any 4K device, as it eats up a lot of space on the memory card and only gives a very minimal increase in pixels. I bought mine for 11,400 from Amazon and installed it myself. It's a fairly easy job and can be done in 5 minutes. The hardwire kit costs an extra 3,000 if you also want it to record while the vehicle is turned off.

As for side steps, anything automatic that fits perfectly – the one that slides out when the door opens.

Nope, no plans on upgrading the stock JBL 10-speaker system, as it sounds great for a family car already

Doesn't matter, the handrest has a small opening to route the wire, so it should not be a problem. I have connected my dashcam on my own and it is working just fine. Only if you are hardwiring the dashcam, it is better to get it done from a technician.

Mine is connected to the USB port in the third row, as the third row is only occasionally used. I have hardwired several cars of my own before and a technician seems overkill to me personally. The hardwire kit has all the essentials you need to safely make it a DIY job. I haven't done it yet as it's not my daily driver. Switching cables between cars is a hectic job and spending 3k for it seems unnecessary for a garage queen.

Here's a screenshot from a random recording playback; the actual recording has a bit more quality, and you can make out the license plates.

In love with the details and colours for the price of 11,400. Used to be a RedTiger fan as I haven't seen anything else that matched with the details it provided even at night.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Hearing news of car prices hike from Jan 2024. Does that mean Safari prices can also go up? Are there any updates from Tata on the price hike?

I had booked Safari Accomplished AT when the bookings got open, still no word regarding the delivery. Dealership not even have a test drive or display vehicle even after 2 months of launch.

Hope you saw my post where I mentioned that I connected it to the USB port in the 3rd row.

In case you didn't notice, Tata released the prices stating that they are introductory. So yes, they will go up.

I had three cars in mind before finalizing on the Safari, and I test drove all three of them. The Safari came as a surprise, and I didn't wait for a test drive. If you are not so worried about Tata's poor after-sales service, you won't regret buying one. I got mine delivered within a week of booking. My booking amount was also less compared to others—Rs 21,000.

I was hoping the introductory prices to stay for a minimum of 6 months or at least until Tata dispatches vehicle for the customers who booked within 1 month of launch. Tata's poor after-sales service does worry me but still going ahead just because its a Safari. My booking amount was also Rs 21,000. At the time of booking they informed me the waiting period would be 2 months. I had booked for Stardust Ash color.

My advice to the Safari owners who are going to get their plates fixed.

So, I had my plates installed yesterday and unfortunately, I wasn't there to observe the process. When I asked why they did such a poor job, they admitted that the plate-fixing guys were on leave, so they did it for me in their absence. They apologized and assured me they could correct their mistake. When this was the first thing I heard from them, I wasn't even mad.

Firstly, make sure not to have the rivet mounting points fixed in the place they're supposed to be, as it doesn't make any sense. If you do so, this is how it will look like:-

Yup, I was so disappointed when I saw it for the first time too. Then I noticed something: it covers over half of the ADAS Radar sensor.

This was the most concerning part. I called their manager to show them their work and he wasn't happy either. During the test drive, we encountered errors, and the vehicle kept getting confused about the distance to objects in front. The manager immediately ordered replacement plates and apologised for wasting my 3 hours. Despite being told that personnel would be available at 1 pm even during lunch break for a quick 5-minute job, but as expected everyone went for lunch so I had to wait.

I'll receive the replacement plates in a day or two, they will be delivered and fixed at my home since the nearest Luxon service centre is an hour away. Kudos to the Luxon service team for taking such an initiative even before I suggested any idea. They attempted to drill through the rivet to remove it, but it slipped, resulting in the scratch between 1333.

I noticed that pre-facelift cars didn't experience this issue, as the radar was positioned at the bottom of the lower bumper grille:-

After reaching home, I started looking for delivery videos on YouTube to see how well other dealerships managed to get it done. To my surprise, there was only one video where the plate didn't cover the radar. Here's the screenshot I took for my reference to show the executives who will be coming to fix my plates.

the hood emblem though

Please keep in mind that while the ADAS tech will still work, its performance may not reach its full potential when it's partially covered. Remember the extra premium we pay to use that tech, so it's wise to leave it fully undisturbed.

Before anyone asks, I didn't like how it looked with the number plate frame on, so I decided not to buy it.

I was just about to ask about it - in our current cars (not Safari), without the frame, the plates wobble (as the rivet is only on top of the plates), and on the boot while closed, they cause additional noise being loose at the bottom.

Waiting for the final look of the re-fixed plates on your car

Thanks a lot for your post. Even my number plate was blocking ADAS radar partially. I am getting it changed. I have not driven my Safari on highway yet, so I have not tested the ADAS functioning thoroughly. Even Though I was not getting any weird errors, thanks to your post I realised that my number plate was also overlapping some portion of the radar. They have ordered a new plate and will be fixed in couple of days time.

In the Safari, I don’t think that will be a problem due to its cabin insulation. Moreover, I will also secure it with 3M tape so the plate doesn’t really touch the body.
I will get an update by tomorrow, and I will also make them redo the rear as that needs to be placed a bit more towards the top as well to hide the plate mounting points. The number plate frame looked bad on the rear in my opinion. Although it looked good in front, due to its weird design, the placement will ruin the aesthetics. Also I kind of dig the black border on white look which won't be seen with a frame.

Hey, I’m glad you found it useful. The reason behind not getting errors is that most running objects will still get detected. In my case, it covered more than half of the radar, and I got the following notification - “Object disappeared, Look out for safety…" something like that. This happened 3 times every minute, mostly with 2-wheelers while they make a small lane change, so the executive who was with me was convinced that my radar is not working as intended.

Re: My advice to the Safari owners who are going to get their plates fixed.

Yesterday, I received a call from the Customer Service Manager at Luxon's head office. He stated that they needed to take my car to their dealership to change my plates, a job that would take half a day. I informed him that this was not what I had agreed upon with the manager at the service center where I had initially taken my car. He explained that he needed to upload proof of plate damage to the Parivahan website in order to get it replaced. I told him that I could do it myself and asked for instructions on how they wanted it done. He replied that they just needed the plate in two or more pieces and that the manner of damage didn't really matter.

So today morning, I removed the plate and cut it in half. I sent it to him by 10 AM.

I received a call at 1 PM informing me that the replacement plates were ready. The service team came to my home and had them fixed by 8 PM, as they had agreed to get it done the same day since I needed to use the car the next morning.

Here’s the final look! I’m happy with the outcome, with a heavy heart as this is my people mover and I need it with the HSRP to avoid trouble. I have been commuting comfortably with 9 people (including myself) in this beast.

Here, the key fob lock got pressed accidentally and the car got locked with me inside with the driver door open. I got out and closed the locked door. Today, a few hours ago while cleaning the Safari, I tested with the key inside (all over the car including boot and dashboard storage spaces) to see if it gets locked on its own, and it didn't.
With Safari at least, this is not the case. The car doesn't get locked with the key fob inside. If we try do this, there's loud, irritating beep sounds that keep coming and alerts everyone else in the vicinity, embarrassing the owner. BTW, I manage to do this, at least 2-3 times a month. So, I know.

Then, I tried to replicate the other issue: locking the car while inside by pressing the lock button on the key fob and at the same time keeping driver's door is open; then come out and close the door. At this point, the mirrors fold, but car doesn't get locked. If I try to lock the car by pressing the request sensor, it again starts making those loud beeps.

So, at least for Safari, the short answer to the question whether the car can be locked with key fob inside is no.

An interesting observation while I was trying out all these:
I also kept my 2nd key handy just in case I need it. I noticed that with key inside, if I try to lock the car by pressing the request sensor, car doesn't get locked but it doesn't make any beep sounds either. I got curious and then figured that its probably due to the presence of the 2nd key nearby. Then I kept the 2nd key at least 15 ft away and voila, the loud beep is back if I try to lock the car with key fob inside. Neat!

Cheers

Thank you. So the rivets are at the middle height of the plates, and it does look neat, and shouldn't wobble, and best of all, doesn't mess with the radar.

At the rear, do you feel that the plates wobble at the bottom as they are riveted only on the top? (especially without the frame). Is it secure due to something else?
