Can anyone shed some light upon how much time does it take to reach the dealership after billing from the factory. Thanks.
Should not take more than 3-4 days - in my case it was billed on 24th March and the car was in Agra on 26th and with me on 27th. The barcodes on the front bumper had a date of 22nd March on it so the time line was pretty unbelievable.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Mods and updates Thar Roxx AX5L 4x4 Auto

Today received the car after the alloys painting and dechroming of badges. The 18” alloys which came in the AX5L were too shiny to my liking. All the alloys including the newly installed spare tyre alloy were painted in gun metal color.

The ‘Thar Roxx’ and ‘4x4’ badges were dechromed in matt black. Now I have completed all the updates and mods planned in my Roxx. Hope to keep the car for at least 5 years.

Below are the list of works done with prices.

Graphene coating – 28,000

Sun film SOLARSHIELD Teal 70 front & Sable 50 on sides – 24,000

Spare tyre steel wheel and cover replaced with original Roxx 18” alloy including mounting bracket from Mahindra – 19,550

Seat covers, covering the dirt prone white leatherette seats, similar color and stitching from Wellfit – 15725

Replaced Mahindra original paper cone speakers and tweeters with Harmon infinity Speakers Component with tweeters in front + Coaxial on back (No amp or subwoofer, to avoid future warranty related issues) – 17,240

All 5 alloys painting in gunmetal, and badges in matt black – 15500

Tail light cover from Mahindra – 1700

Total spending for above after delivery – 1,21,715

All above were done remotely, still not seen the car in person after the mods. Some pictures taken by the person who collected the car..

That's unfortunate! I have seen this problem of small debris damaging the windshield at least in one more post on this thread. There is another Youtuber who has reported this issue.
Wondering whether this is just happenstance or 3-door Thar owners have also faced this due to the vehicle's boxy design.
Are there any "tempered glass for windshield" solutions?

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

We booked our AX7 4WD (Forest Green, Mocha interiors) on Diwali day from NBS Mahindra, Marine Drive, Mumbai. Apart from the bill receipt which came after a few days, no other communication was received from Mahindra. So a few days back, I called the helpline and they were not able to give the details online. The car is booked in my wife's name, so they said they'll call back with the details. That's still pending from Mahindra's end.

In the meanwhile, the dealership gave us the status of July 2026. So I checked about changing the interior colours to the new Mocha Grey one, but no joy since they wanted us to cancel and book again.

So we started checking with other dealerships. Surprise, surprise!

Ready delivery is available for any colour with Mocha interiors for AX 7L 4WD. Only if we are willing to pay 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh extra. This is clearly Mahindra allowing its dealers to scalp customers by creating an artificial production backlog.

While there is a wait for AX7L 4WD, there are quite a few cancellations and those vehicles are readily available without any additional 'premium' if finances can be managed within a day or two. For those who call and check every week, am sure gauging the interest level, advisor from dealership will try to put a premium using reason of waiting period. What might instead work is just to tell them you will take immediate delivery of same variant vehicle as available, and you have funds ready for full payment.

On a different note- had to reconnect the battery to get Adrenox to work. (2nd time in 2 months).

Nice list. I would also need to go to wellfit one day to get the same seat covers.

Regarding the speakers, how did you mount the tweeters? is it in the stock location (above the head) or have they been placed in a more friendly location?

Yes, The speakers were installed in the same location above the head. I did not want to look after marketish with tweeters. Even the seat covers, I would normally not put in , however this was forced especially because the dress colors started getting into the seats and it was too much scrubbing required to remove. Sooner or later you will have to do it any way, so better to do before the original seats are not permanently stained.

I got these 7D mats for 6,700. Fitting looks good, no obstruction in accelerator or brake pedals. Color is Coffee with Golden in Ultra Premium.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Hey everyone,
I am planning to book the Thar Roxx and have almost finalized the AX5L diesel variant. However, I am torn between choosing the RWD and the 4x4 version.

While I don’t have any regular off-roading requirements, I do plan to take the vehicle on trips to Ladakh and Spiti. In that context:

1. Will I face any significant limitations or challenges if I go for the RWD instead of the 4x4, especially in Spiti or during tricky sections in Ladakh?
2. I’m also considering participating in Mahindra Adventure Escapes. Do they allow RWD Thars, or is a 4x4 mandatory for those events?

Would really appreciate insights from those who’ve done similar trips or participated in these events. Thanks in advance!

>95% roads including the mountains can be covered with Roxx RWD, which means avoiding the additional weight and cost of 4WD. However if your route involves driving on snow, muddy trails, especially Spiti, Ladakh, then a 4WD is better. Since you cannot retrofit 4WD, and to remove any lingering doubts about which route to take- suggest to go with the 4WD.

Personally- Of the 3k kms covered in our Roxx, used 4WD for 500 meters. (A steep approach with a sharp turn, where I could not turn the Roxx without engaging 4WD)

Any idea how to change display units from kPa to PSI? Also, should the spare tyre details be shown as well? This is for the AX7L model.

I had this issue too, even Service Center was not able to fix it and concluded it Mahindra has been notified about this.
Guess what fixed it, go to the AdrenoX app and just tap on the tire pressure.

Yes, the AdrenoX app displays tyre pressure in PSI.

The issue is that kPa got linked to the UK metric setting, while PSI is tied to the US metric setting due to some glitch. When I switched the Infotainment unit to US metrics, it did show PSI, but it also changed other units—like miles and Fahrenheit. I suppose the software might need to be reinstalled to correct this mapping. Since it’s not a major issue, I plan to have it addressed during the first service.

In my opinion if the price is not pinching you, get the 4x4. Sure you might not use it most of the time, but having it just opens up more possibilities when you go on trips like Spiti and Ladakh. I have been to both and have used 4x4 extensively. Not that the RWD is not capable of handling off-road, but as another BHPian, you can't retrofit 4x4 if later into your ownership you feel or wish you had it.

My suggestion would be to get the AX5L 4x4 AT.

Cheers

4WD is like an insurance, just additional load till you first need it. Once you need it, you can’t stop appreciating it.

Also, if you are participating in Great Escapes and other events, you will need a 4WD.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

My car just completed 2000 kms and down first service at around 1460kms. Noticed a potential packaging issue that can cause a breakdown. The engine cover rubs against the fuel return pipe wired through the firewall and it already eaten up half of the felt liner.
This is the location:
Mahindra Thar Roxx Review-img_0434.jpeg

To see this you will have to remove the top cover by pulling it up. A close look at the damage of insulation material used by Mahindra at factory:
Mahindra Thar Roxx Review-img_0408.jpeg

Lucky that I have noticed it and did a bit of additional packaging and pulling it to the right using a plastic tie so that it passes through the grow they created on the engine top cover for clearance.

After the jugad fix to avoid further damage:
Mahindra Thar Roxx Review-img_0433.jpeg

To address this, Mahindra should do a recall with a modified part- either the fuel return pipe with better routing or the engine cover with more clearance.
It would be good if you guys take a look at your vehicles too. Can lead to a breakdown if the return pipe is cut.

Apart from this, I found the autonomous emergency braking is very inconsistent. A couple of times I observed that it didnt intervene at all where it could have. But when it works it’s very nicely calibrated and activated in a safe manner. The AEB is enabled in the settings all the time, but works only in some trips. Just removed battery and reconnected it back to see if it fixes the problem.
