Hi everyone,

Today had the opportunity to meet some of our TBHP stalwarts when I was in Mumbai for a conference. When I contacted Mr. Beharam asking him if I could meet him, he said that there is a Mumbai Fiat classic club meet on Sunday (19/01/14) at the 5 gardens in Dadar, Mumbai and I could join them at the meet. I was very delighted and skipped my conference on Sunday and met some of the classic Fiatians there.

Met Mr. Beharam, Mr. Ronnie to name a few and saw some of the classic cars that was brought there. Interacting with Mr. Beharam regarding the solex carburettor was so informative and you bet he is undoubtedly the best when it comes to fiats.

Took few pictures with all the people who came to the meet.

Thank you guys it was a pleasant surprise and definitely made my day.

Re: Restoration of MDN 6494 ('55 Millecento) - In remembrance of my Father

A glowing tribute to your Dad.

Love the choice of color and the instrument console. The tan leather (posted by Karl) would be nice and period too. Awaiting pics of the upholstery work.

Koyas were/are famous here in Kerala too. Back in my school days, I remember our Amby being taken all the way to Coimbatore for the leather works. Even cars with Koyas upholsery used to command a margin in the used car market.

Also if possible try to source the set of wheel discs without the holes. They would definitely enhance her beauty.

Hi sharon

Thanks for your feedback & kind words. Wish my father was there to see his all time love being restored like this and the appreciation its getting. He would have really loved it. But I am sure he is always around the car looking over each and every step of the restoration.

Regarding the upholstery work decided on two tone shades in the original periodic pattern.

The car is still in koyas, not able to get the original coloured roofing material. Any suggestions where I can find the original coloured rexin?

Will post the pictures as and when it is ready.

Thanks & regards.

Re: Restoration of MDN 6494 ('55 Millecento) - In remembrance of my Father

Hi Guys

Just an update on the restoration work of my 1955 millecento, which i started in memory of my father. The restoration work is in the final stages and its just over a year since i started the restoration.

As all you guys know that the car is with 'Koyas' for the upholstery work. 90% of the upholstery work is over, just the final touch work is remaining. There was little delay in getting the right color and material for the roof & floor work.
Decided to go for two tone color for the seat and door padding, but did try to retain the original design for the seat and the door pads. Did put in some extra cushioning in the seats for the lumbar and thigh support for comfortable driving. I quite liked the final outcome and hope all you guys also like it.

Have posted few pictures but they are not the final finish, especially the seats. The roof and door padding is all done and what you see is the final finish. The seats are yet to be fixed finally. Once all the work is done, thorough cleaning is required to remove all the finger marks and stains on the upholstery work.

Still on the look out 2 more stuffs - the petrol tank float & the rear windscreen aluminium beading. Hope you guys can help me out in procuring these 2 items. Will be ever thankful.

Thanks & regards

Dr. Kannan.

Hi

Just a quick update on my millecemto. The car is back with the painters for the final finishing touches and to take care of the small scratches and damages done during the engine work and the upholstery work. Once that is over got few electrical jobs to take care of.

My biggest headache now is the petrol float, did quite a bit of search for the float on ebay but all in vain. Did find few similar floats on ebay but when contacted the seller, they were not sure of the suitability.

I have posted a picture of a float, please let me know if this would fit my millecento. I have also posted few pictures of the restored steering wheel & horn button along with a picture of the car's rear end with all the external fittings in place.

Thanks Manish, but what do we do with the petrol outlet from the float?
In my petrol tank the outlet is separate from the float. If you think we can use this particular float for our millecento, please let me know if you can get me one. I can arrange somebody to pay and pick it up from you in Bangalore.

Thanks a ton.

Dr. Kannan, Good Evening, The dream car looks excellent and the choice of interiors i.e the color and fabric are elegant. The interiors have been done very neatly and they surely enhance the beauty of this classic to a great extent. But, in my opinion the only thing that is slightly out of place are the chrome strips. They are not complementing the overall finished product. So, if possible then please remove them.

Thanks

AD

Hi Mr. AD

It's been a long time since I saw you on my thread! Thanks for stopping by.

I am sorry, which chrome strip are you talking about? Please be specific, will definitely look into it.

Thanks.
