These are just plastic strips that are stuck there. Actually you do get these chrome strips in original door padding. I did check the OE pictures before doing this. When I removed the old upholstery material from the door handles, it had a chrome strip there.

Will post the picture for reference. Thank you.

In my petrol tank the outlet is separate from the float. If you think we can use this particular float for our millecento, please let me know if you can get me one. I can arrange somebody to pay and pick it up from you in Bangalore.

Thanks a ton.
I too got a replacement tank of Permier Padmani, so that is also having the separate petrol outlet. I am going to blank out that one.

Regarding the assembly. please check with the seller directly if he has any left over. I will not be in town for a long period.

Re: Restoration of MDN 6494 ('55 Millecento) - In remembrance of my Father

" MISSION ACCOMPLISHED "

YES ! Finally I have finished the restoration of my 1955 FIAT 1100 103 MILLECENTO which I started 1 year - 3 months & 10 days ago. Just a day before the 2nd death anniversary of my father in whose remembrance I started this restoration - A fitting tribute to a man who loved his car till the last moment of his life.

Thanks APPA, for staying with me and looking over me through the entire restoration.

Thanks to one and all in the TEAM BHP for guiding and advising me, a doctor by profession, through this all new world of mine. I did not know the ABC's of restoration when I started it. But now I am being called more often these days for restoration queries rather health regarding issues

I have posted few restored pictures for now and i promise more to follow.

your comments and criticism are welcomed.

Thank you.

DR. KANNAN.

Dear doc - the outcome is excellent. Appreciate your efforts and I'm sure your late Appa must have over looked and guided through the entire restoration. He must be smiling and feeling proud of you.

Quick question - is that the original license plate? If not try getting the original one.

I just had my breath taken away. She looks GORGEOUS. Everything is just perfect.
Just one sugestiopn, move that AA symbol to one side. Its taking too prominent a place on that beautiful face.

Hi Jose Joseph

Thanks for the kind words.

The licence plate is our regular MS plate, but the frame is imported from Italy. The numbers are aluminium numbers with black powder coating and each are individually screwed onto the plate. Actually I am not very happy with the finish of the aluminium letters, but for time being using it. Infact gave a model of the orginal aluminium letters but the guy messed it up.

If you have any suggestions where I can get these letters done in aluminium much better, please give me the contacts.

Is there any other orginal licence plate? If yes then please send me a picture of it.

Thanks & regards.

Re: Restoration of MDN 6494 ('55 Millecento) - In remembrance of my Father

Hi Dr Kannan,

Nice to see the car restored. The licence plate frame at the rear is original though it should have been in Aluminium. The front did not have a frame as you can be seen from my fathers car which is now with me, the attached photo was taken in 1956 after it was bought in Lucknow, that's me (aged 4) you see in the centre.

The car was in Coimbatore, where my mother still stays, from 1965 to 2009. I will look you up when I am there next.

Regards,

Col Gopinath

Hi Sir

Glad to know that you still have the car with you. It will be a great pleasure to meet you. Please call me next time when you are in Coimbatore. My mobile number is 099940 78668.

You are right sir the front number plate comes above the bumper in wide ' v ' shape. While doing the tinker work I did see 2 holes there but couldn't find the original plates. so settled down for this one.

Thanks anyway for the clarification. Looking forward to meet you Sir.

Kannan Sir, awesome job done there. I am really overwhelmed by the dedication you had to restore this car and being a doctor the interest you have shown towards this baby is really commendable.

Wish even I had a chance to own one of these vintages. Will try to get my hands on one of these one fine day.

Thanks a lot for your detailed restoration thread
