Re: Restoration: Renewing my Rajdoot 175 (1972 Model)

Today I went to jail road for wheel set up. Sadly the old wheel drum's bearing distance bush turned out to be a bit longer than what I had purchased.
The one I purchased was of new model.

Plan to set up the wheel gets postponded for a week. Just ordered two pairs of old model wheel drums bearing distance bush.

So a lesson learned, old model wheel drums have 6 cm long distance bushing with collar size 1/2cm..

Re: Restoration: Renewing my Rajdoot 175 (1972 Model)

Even though my rear and front wheel drum sets are new there were a lot of scratches on it. Well this is what happens if something is lying there for nearly 30 years.
So, I tried my hands on painting it with Aluminium paint from British Paints. Although it is just the first coat but it seems the final result will be great. Just sharing pics of Drum Sets after scraping old paint and with just 1st coat of paint being applied.

Numerouno, I am liking the way you are progressing with the restoration. Absolutely nothing being done in a hurry. A thorough job!

Re: Restoration: Renewing my Rajdoot 175 (1972 Model)

Finally, after searching so many places, i could get genuine front and rear drum bearing distance. Reason for this delay is its size normally 3 cm to 5.5 cm distance go in Rajdoot but this being old model, size of distance was 6 cm, very rare item. One can guess how tedious it is to find these stuffs.
I have now complete parts and the bike is almost complete. Some pictures of the immaculate fitment of genuine parts.

Choke piston Kit for converting MIKCARB VM 24 carburetor with lever operated choke to a wire operated one.

Happy that my bike will have handlebar mounted choke lever system that will look exactly same as it used to be.☺

Sir, I am particularly impressed with the magnet puller! I am trying to find one for Chetak and its not available in Bangalore! In haste I pulled out the flywheel by prying it out with a screwdriver and now I see the flywheel is bent. I need to get a new one.

I really appreciate your patience.

Thanks for You support. If you are not able find that flywheel, then I can help. I just talked to a guy in Banglore itself, he says he can arrange in few days. Please message me your name, number and model of scooter. I will give you his number, from thereon you can coordinate.
Regards

Re: Restoration: Renewing my Rajdoot 175 (1972 Model)

My restoration process hit a roadblock when the new piece of rear drum brake plate turned out to be faulty .

So now searching for a new one as the old plate has worn out due to worm wheel.

My bike's present condition, everything else done. Just waiting for that part to close the bike.

Thanks for your help and concern but just two days back I purchased a new set of rear drum. Although I just wanted to purchase Rajdoot embossed drum brake plate but since the dealer had only one set, he was not willing to sell it loose. So I had to purchase both.

The dealer is going to send the item today, hope it reaches me in good shape, till then fingers crossed.
I will post pics of it as soon as it gets delivered to me.
