Thanks for sharing your College days with SUVEGA
Hi Powertwin,
Thanks for the info.

As far as I recollect, the Suvega Deluxe (Super Deluxe really - I don't think there was a plain Jane Deluxe - IIRC)) of 1983 came with the long seat as I had not ordered it as an after market fitment. So not very sure whether they had given that as a goodwill gesture or something. If I look hard enough (at my ancestral home) I might yet find the original invoice of my Suvega !

I had got it then from Mandovi Motors on St Marks Road, Bangalore, who were then the dealers for Mopeds India.
The model that I had came with chrome mudguards and a slightly different frame adornments - plate etc, below the seat as compared to the earlier Suvegas.

I think the Suvega Samrat came a little later with the fuel tank on top to make it look like a motorcyle ?

Sorry I couldn't keep up my promise to post a Full Suvega Samrat pic at least now!!
But these pics posted below will shed some light to the members, who haven't seen a SAMRAT before!!!
I have just plonked the Samrat fuel tank & side protector guards temporarily on a Suvega deluxe...just to have an idea
PS: SAMRAT will have this slopper tank in the middle where a rider used to step thru'...and the regular under seat fuel tank will go flat as a utility box from both sides

Re: Suvega !

wow, didn't know a small moped like this had such big history. but i am little confused now, was my bike originally a single seater or the long bench seat ? the mech told me that the ones which came with a rigid swing arm at the back had the single seat and the ones with the suspension had the bench seat ... don't know how far that is true. I personally prefer the single seat and also any suggestion for the color guys ? what are the original colors she came in ? i was thinking of a pale yellow with brown leather seats for my bike. please do suggest ... thank you.

Let me come to History ,Mystery ,Mastery&Misery of " Mopeds India ltd"

*About your Dual seat or Single seat doubts, here is it>>
As I told earlier Non of the Suvega Variants came out with Dual seat( Bench seat as you said), EXCEPT Suvega SAMRAT
** Up to Suvega Super all the few variants are rear RIGID suspension types only ( think up to 1979)
*** Deluxe version , ie. rear hydraulic suspension models to had either front single seat + rear carrier combo OR front and rear Both split seats, in this case rear seats were rectangular wooden base with foam & rexin

but Lambro, even every puny thing in this world has its own history, but these Mopeds India ltd guys, made wonders at mid '60s up to mid 70s
As the promoters of this belongs to Coimbatore , so I need to reveal few tit bits of " Mopeds India ",History, but not now some time later
ps: May be your mechanic friend would have confused with SUJATHA mopeds, which from the day one it had dual seat ( guess now i have confused with SUJATHA here @ Suvega thread, any wont this wont be considered OT, because SUJATHA was off shoot of SUVEGA, that to from Coimbatore (?????...........we'll discuss later!!)
Here is the PALE YELLOW you meant>>>
This particular Moped (a CKD assembled) was a gift from my family friend& now I have gifted(not sale) to another friend, as most of you know I have a CBU Motobecane Moped with me,
plz find the Moped pic, which still has the Factory Paint( your pale yellow)
My SUVEGA, a true example of, the early sixties bike, built at MOPEDS INDIA unit at Tirupathi, from the "Knocked Down Kits" from its collaborator m/s MOTOBECANE of FRANCE.
About the posted moped:
It still has the Original Paint, Engine,Wheels, _ , _,.......
......except its original carb ( GRUTNER)

Re: Suvega !

Hi,
Always wanted to ask - but never got around to...so - what exactly is the meaning of the word - Suvega ?

Is it -
"Suvega - (Noun) It is a male name, from Sanskrit and a character from the Indian epic Mahabarata.

It means High speed.
Usage: Suvega is the name of a man"

Or anything more to it ? Who was this character in Mahabharat ?

In my limited understanding of Sanskrit , Suvega would mean something thats very fast/ fleet footed ...havent heard about a character in the great epics.
