ADVICE NEEDED
Friends can will you be able to please with your experience answer my query. One headlight sealbeam (left one) of my Landmaster is of Lumax make. The other one is Lucas , Made in England. I have now procured not the whole sealbeam, but the outer glass cover of make Lucas Made in England. Is it wise to change the Lumax glass cover and get the Lucas glass cover fitted on the reflector/sealbeam? Or should I wait till I get the full sealbeam of Lucas, Made in England?

More pictures of my Landmaster. The SU carburettor is seen in a picture. This SU carburettor looked so complicated in the beginning, but now I have got used to dissect it bit by bit for cleaning/ tuning and then reassemble. Really a marvellous carburettor. I was reading Auto Express car buyers guide of the early 1908's 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986 and so on. Many budget and luxury British cars sported the SU carbs. SU stands for guess what?

Hello Anjan,
A long time ago you asked me what SU stood for, I am now able to
tell you. My partner Katy and I have just returned from a holiday in Oxford
close to where the Morris factory was, we had time to visit a new museum
dedicated to William Morris, the founder of Morris Motor cars. I bought a
book on Morris and it mentioned how William Morris had been impressed with
the SU carburretor in the 1920,s and managed to buy their factory and bring it within his company. The original company making the carbs were involved in the making of shoes, their name was Lilley and Skinner. Carl Skinner was interested in engineering and designed the SU carb. SU stands for Skinners Union. So now you know. I hope all is well with you.

An update- My Landmaster's five year fitness was valid till August 2008.It was July and I woke up from my slumber to chalk out a plan to save the original (Bombay State) R.C. and T.C. book from destruction at the hands of the uncouth babus.
Yes thats true, because every car or any motor vehicle whatsoever, no matter how old within the state of Maharashtra, mandatorily now needs to surrender the original R.C. and T.C. books and in lieu get the plastic smart card with coded data, if the RTO office is approached for renewal of registration/ fitness, transfer of ownership or any other paper work for the motor vehicle.
I am not that smart to deserve a smart card, when it comes to my dear Landy so I had to scheme something. I approached our leader the local MLA Mr Devendra Fadnavis, who gave me a patient hearing. He immediately phoned the RTO and told him to do the fitness tests etc and make the entry in the old R.C. and T.C. book manually,telling him not to destroy the these original documents under any circumstances. The RTO gave his nod on the phone. I met the RTO a few days later, on the D Day and referred to his discussions earlier with Devendraji. The fitness tests were taken by an Inspector and my "Lady in Black" emerged FIT' N FINE.
After completing the whole gamut and paperwork, I was handed over the manually entered R.C. and T.C. books. And guess what? The Landy is now fit until August 2013. My special thanks to Mr Devendra Fadnavis.
