Hi All,

I have paid advance to pick the Land rover of pictures below -
The vehicle is in the North & by mid month it should be in Bangalore.

My plan is to cut the chassis & make it look like a Defender 90.
I am a complete newbie to the technical side of things.
Any help / suggestions & advices will be highly appreciated.

Thanks & regards,
Kumar

This is my first reaction , will answer in detail tomorrow ( bit short of time now )

Repairing a Landy chassis is a very tricky Job --- Now you say you want to cut & reduce the length ( wheel base )

My advice dont do it , leave it alone .It is going to be a very very tricky & difficult job ( IMHO & AFAIK )

show it ( the chassis ) to some one who does chassis job , & ask

Sudarshan

OH NO !!!!!!!!!!:Shockked:
Sincere advice.....take it

& do what ? cut & Paste ? :D

Pollyji check the discussion here
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-ve...and-rover.html -- I have given some reasons here . & check the chassis drawings too .

I guess you are not for the cut paste job , you must be joking

But anyway its a candidate for restoration at least , I will support that .But a novice doing cut & paste thats a horrible Idea --perfect recipe for him to get ripped & the mech getting rich :Shockked:

Sudarshan

Hi Sudarshan
half the problem with forums is that 95% of the time we dont understand each other!!
My response was in response to Catchkumar's suggestion of modifying his vehicle to a short Chassis defender look alike.

So when i say OH NO !!!! :Shockked: its in response to that Defender (Look alike) idea

When i say "Sincere Advice..... take it" I meant Sudarshan's advice was sincere and that Catchkumar should 'take it'.

Catchkumar, in no way do i mean to be judgemental or derogatory about your dreams, you have every right to dream and execute the project as your creativity desires but since youve thrown it up in the air on this forum then one must be ready for a whole spectrum of advice and comments from bad to good to ugly. I fully support any creativity.
warm regards
Polly

Hey Polly/Rajubhai

I would like you to meet my size zero babe.

Spotted her recently, Reg Plates are local. Looks like she's been restored recently... Isnt she a Series III.

From Back its difficult! it can be a SIIa or SIII 109" wheel base. Its the location of the headlight that is critical.

Where is this located.

@ 4x4er
Lucky Man! where did you manage to get that crew-cab.

@ Agspins--- this is Nagpur ( MH ) isnt it ??? the registration is MTP 8592 ( originally Solapur or Pune )am I right here ??

@ Alec - check the door hinges + the skirting ( the strip bellow side doors --though late 2a's had this) its a Series 3-- but by hinges its a S3 for sure .

More than that check this link

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/vintag...chase-207.html

Particularly check these posts # 3101 # 3102 ( mine )

& If its the same vehicle I am talking about ---THEN >> I ' KNOW ' this vehicle & have worked on it & I also ' KNOW ' some interesting 'Service History ' of it .

This was originally from Solapur ( Father Barnbus )( MH )then Pune ( Mr.Desai ) then Pune ( Mr . Fernandes ) then at Chinchwad ( Mr Gaud ) then Nagpur -----

Once a pristine condition vehicle , later became a subject of greed of the sellers --- very sad

one more thing , chassis & body is good ( rust free ) but cant say about mechanical

Hello SirAlec, Thanks, Truck cab, is only part OE, fantastic view when driving, but has become a lot zippy now, tires suck when shown the mud, looking forward to fitting wolf wheels soon.
