Here is an interesting Type 57 which was in India for a short while . Details are all there in the original build sheet which was shared by its current owner Mr Andrea Graziano Capra of Switzerland. When in India the car was in Calcutta from 1954 to 1967 with one Mr Bernard Thorpe who resided inBugattis in India!-ve2011d2-1082.jpg

It also was one of the cars that Ettore worked on which marvelous. Does anyone have any information of this car when it was in Calcutta for those years.

Re: Bugattis in India!

A Kapurthala Type 37 ? Not inconceivable, given the Francophile he was.

Excerpt from "Amedee Gordini" by Roy Smith:

Yes, I would agree that he could have owned this car, and never brought her to India. Very good spotting

This piece appeared in the Bugatti Trust newsletter. Many familiar cars are discussed.

Can anyone shed more light about the Bhiwandiwalla Bugatti and the Chhatriwala story?

Is the Roni Khan Bugatti the Type 37? Or the "other" Type 35 which is with Mallya?

The Ex-Jodhpur Type 13 was sold on Chennai. Engine whether Desoto or Studebaker does not really matter

But seriously though,
I do remember a story of a Bugatti Type 57 or 57C in South india but the engine had been used for an alternative purpose... and all that was left was the front mudguards.

The car was originally in Jodhpur then travelled to the South. Currently don't know where it is .

The UW Registration might indicate that these are indeed the same car.

Are they the same BATLIWALA of Mumbai ? The family still resides at Malabar Hill and could be the same house in the 1st snap. Requires some digging over the weekend and connecting with them

Thanks for sharing

Cheers
