Picked up L size and have done 2 rides so far and i am quite comfortable when i use the ear plugs....

Can you please share (a) price & (b) the quality of the padding (especially since you had a LS2 earlier)?

Thanks

Thanks

The price was Rs.4400, picked up from Helmet Paradise Opposite Urvashi Theatre Bangalore. Been a regular here since 2006!

Quality of padding is really good. My last new helmet was in 2014(LS2 Tron edition) and compared to that padding this is really good. They have improved a lot.

On my LS2 i used to remove the padding and wash them after some 4-5 rides. I believe that was not needed and simple wipe would be sufficient. Now we have a lot of helmet cleaners which does the job. Frequent washing of pads had made them go bad too.

Does the LS2 FF800 have ECE 22.05 certification? Most websites say it does not, and have seen one not having it in a helmet shop near JSS college Bengaluru on Vishnuvardhan road, but the sheer number of people buying it here has me a little confused over going for a MT Blade 2. Also how is the wind noise? Will be used on highways regularly hence it’s a must to be quieter than my current Axor Apex, and a little lightweight probably around 1400g. Thoughts? 10k is what I can spend.

I'm not sure where's the confusion! Either I'm referring to another model or you're.

LS2 Storm @10.7k can be easily recommended but depends on your fit. It didn't fit me right, was too comfortable in the first trial itself. If Blade 2 fits you better then it's a better choice for you.

But today you should go for the latest certification. In addition, you should also consider that (mostly) the same LS2 Storm achieved a better certification. Earlier who got the 22.05 certified helmet didn't loose much! :thumbs up

Ride safe,

Hello..! Can anyone suggest a light weight full face helmet for me around 5-7000 INR. Many years back there was a talk that Steelbird has had launched some carbon fiber helmet which was very light, but it was unavailable everywhere. By light weight I wish it's weight be under 1000 gms. I'm 52 and my doctor friend suggested me to use a lighter helmet for safety and longevity of my neck (especially in cervical area). The price can be up till 10K.

If the full model name is LS2 FF800 Storm, then yes thats what i saw at a store, might be a fake. It felt even flimsier than an Axor Apex. Hows the wind noise?

Posting this here as there was no response on the Giveaway thread.
If someone here is using a Studds Drifter hemet, i have a visor for giveaway. Got it along with a RE helmet as a spare for a friend and found it to be a no match. Pickup from Girinagar in Namma Bengaluru.

Thanks for sharing this update. With 22.06, the LS2 FF800 Storm is a very hard choice to beat at this price range. Ive done several thousand kilometers with it, including a 1,000+ km ride over the recent extended weekend and for the price, its one of the best helmets that Ive ever owned.

Which is the Bangalore store in which you saw the helmet? In today's day and age it nearly impossible for stores to get away with selling fake helmets from reputed brands.

Finally, after going through all the reviews and shortlisting LS2 storm, I ended up picking up a totally different helmet - The MT Blade 2.

I tried the LS2 storm (which was the only one with ECE 22.06 ibelow or around 10k) and the Thunder 4, but the fit just wasn't good enough for me. The Blade 2 comes with a smaller shell than the Thunder 4 but has the same 22.05 rating. Cost me 9k and this is my first ever helmet in this class. So, my expectation wasn't much to begin with. But i find the helmet very reassuring. Even at 90 to 100 speed, there's hardly any drag or noise. Comes with an inbuilt sun visor and I added a bluetooth set that with my Hness allows handfree calling.

Only negative I have so far is, when there's heavy cross wind, significant amount of noise creeps in.
When I say heavy, I am talking about the Kangeyam-Palani stretch that houses lot of windmills during the windiest time of the year.

Attaching some photos. Unfortunately, there's wasn't any solid color in stock. So, had to go with this one with graphics.

Hi Guys,
I have a big head and currently own a SMK Stellar XXL helmet as my primary. But even with this one, my ears start hurting after 2+ hrs of ride and it gets worst as the ride progresses.

The latest government mandate has made it nearly impossible to get 3XL or 4XL helmets.

I tried quite a few helmets from different brands in XXL size but feel the fit is very similar to my Stellar. I found SMK Allterra XXL helmet which feels comfortable but is a moto cross styled helmet and I need a touring helmet. It also does not support Bluetooth speakers.

Any suggestions on this will be highly appreciated as I am in dire need of a helmet that is comfortable for long rides.

I am currently using MT Hummer which weighs only 1450gms, and it’s a very comfortable and ventilated helmet. Falls within your budget also.

There are few things you must keep in mind. There is no reputed helmet which weighs less than 1450gms, and is less than ₹10k. Carbon fibre helmets are costly. Second most important thing, if you use a bigger helmet, you will feel all the weight on your neck. A snug fit helmet distributes the weight around your head, cheek, and jawline; that’s why it feels comfortable.

I am using an Axor Rage Carbon helmet. Very lightweight helmet but otherwise it's nothing special. But the weight savings is very noticeable and it comes with a pinlock visor by default. Don't be fooled by the specs on the website. I have an SMK helmet which is rated the same weight but the Axor is noticeably lighter

-- If possible, should have a scratch resistant visor.
-- Wide viewing angle.
-- Budget: 1.5K (stretchable to 2.5K, ok max 3K, if something is really good).
-- If possible, shouldn't have too many fancy stickers.

BTW, do helmets come in different sizes? His head is a little bigger than average.

I see that many inputs have already been realized on suggested helmet options. Just wanted to flag the importance of having the right size and fit. Different brands may have different fit on a person's head, hence its is imperative to follow the measurements as specified by the brand and then go for size finalization. The helmet should be snug fit on head, and no loose movements when you shake the head. Cheeks shouldn't be squeezed while putting on new helmet as well. There could be additional considerations if the user wear glasses. Hope this helps and happy riding!

Can you suggest a name in carbon fiber helmets which are available in India, because for me the weight of helmet is of utmost importance. I don't mind stretching my budget. Thanks.. :thumbs up

The few I know are LS2 FF805, and MT KRE+.
There is one by Axor which costs around 10k, but the carbon fibre quality is sub-standard(for a lack of better word).
An Indian brand by the name Tiivra also makes helmets which are substantially lighter but they use composite fibreglass.
