Hi All,

I had a spill couple of days ago when the front wheel of my bike got stuck in loose gravel. No damage to bike as i was extremely slow but due to my whole weight coming down on my left wrist i have what feels like a sprain (Could not get the X Ray done as there was no power). I wear half gloves (and jacket and boots) as of now which saved my palm from bruises but was wondering whether a gauntlet would have reduced the strain on the wrist in such a case ? Plus i am also looking for protection against those side brushes, which i think are the most common bike collisions.

Even though my commute to office is less than 4km one way i still wear ATGAT. Should i go ahead and get a full glove now ? If yes which one ?

Please get your wrist x-ray done to rule out any fractures or injuries.

Full gauntlet gloves provide wrist protection from abrasion but impact protection may not be much. DSG carbon full gauntlet gloves are a good pair to invest in. You might also want to check out Spartan gear.

Hi Shubham ,

I would highly recommend A* . I had A* SP-1 gloves when I crashed on my Ninja , I too fell to the side and there was absolutely no damage to me , the gloves had some scruff marks that's it . But let me warn you though , they are a tiny bit uncomfortable in hot weather . You should be fine in Bangalore's climate . I think they are a little more expensive than the DSG ones that aditya has recommended but they are worth the extra cash IMO.

Thanks aditya and balaji. Looks like no biking for me for atleast a month now. Hairline crack in Ulnar Styloid Process. The affected region has been casted now. I will be definitely getting gauntlets though will prefer to try it on, if possible, before buying since the Axo Pro Race i ordered from DSG were a bit loose. Do you guys know of any store near Indiranagar ?

Short of a cock-up splint, there is no glove in the world that can save you from a Colles fracture. Most common injury in adult males resulting from a fall on outstretched hands.

@ebonho: Its actually a hairline fracture at Ulnar-Styloid-Proce. The radius is not affected at all.

Just bought a Harley Davidson roadway leather jacket brown with armour for elbow and shoulders .

Also bought a pair of gloves too from Harley Davidson ....

Shubakar, dainese gear is excellent in terms of fit and finish and are robust in construction. Very few products come close to Dainese in terms of quality and feel.

However i would recommend leather (perforated for ventilation) as it offers a lot more protection against abrasion and impact from a fall compared to textile gear.
