Re: The Riding Gear thread

Singapore query.

My brother is coming down from singapore next month.
I wanted a nice helmet for less than 10k INR and street shoes.

Please recommend a place where he can go for good prices and stuff
Don't want to buy online as I am not sure of size. (my bro's size is same as mine)

P.S.: is it posssible to get good deals in sgp like we see on US websites?

Anyone has/used this ? http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/j...t-radar-jacket (Joe Rocket Radar Jacket). Looks like a good combination of leather and mesh. Looks cool too !

Would like some feedback.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

I wish to buy an all-purpose riding jacket and my budget is around 5500. There are a few options from DSG, Cramster, RJays, Spartan Pro Gear, etc. Which of these justify the price for daily usage?

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Now that my orange monster is on the way, Gurus, please advise me on the following:-
1. All weather(winter too) Riding Jacket with armor
2. Riding boots
3. Gloves
4. Elbow and knee guard? Or will the armor of the jacket suffice for the elbow?

My budget is around 15k inr for all the 4 and can be stretched a bit. But Im including an LS2 lid in that too. Please advise what should be good within that range and in Bangalore any genuine sellers or do i need to order online.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Orange monster coming by wednesday

Yes sammyboy is right it is indeed the Duke. Im waiting on the registration to be done as the RTOs are closed till Tuesday. Its been a long long wait.

The Orion motors might be an issue as I had visited them for the R15 which I later on changed to Duke. Any other alternative to that? Also how much did you pay for the entire set? I'm on a tight budget. Any idea where I can get Rjays Swift jackets? Something like the one mentioned here Facebook bachoo motors

Aditya sir your advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

You can order Rjays Swift Jacket online on the Bachoo motors website. Zulfi is very helpful and will guide you according to your requirement. Call him up first and then place the order. The sizing guide is pretty accurate and even Zulfi will give you a fair idea about sizes. Though i have not had to exchange any stuff, have heard that they exchange gear (size problems) without any fuss.

For DSG merchandise, apart from Orion, you can visit JC Road Helmet paradise. They too stock DSG gear. Call them before you head there to find out if he has stock of the model of gloves, jacket etc that you want to try out. If no stock, then call up Pune DSG and inform them. You will get an accurate date of when stocks were dispatched and what sizes etc to what stores in Bangalore. Based on this you can decide to visit Orion or Helmet Paradise (proximity to you).

OT: Congrats on the Orange Monster

DSG - Waterproof riding pants

Just saw these on the DSG site - Waterproof riding pants - http://www.planetdsg.com/dsg-nero-wa...ts-p-1606.html

Looks like a good deal. Not worried about the armour since I have knee armour anyways. The waterproof part is what attracts me. Will be good all-weather pants.

Anyone bought this? Reviews?

AFAIK, these are your regular cordura material (just like the Nero jacket) with a rain liner inside. Will definitely be super hot in summers even without the liner.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Needed some help guys. Have any of you ordered from Revzilla, Sport Bike track gear or other websites abroad?
How has the experience been? How was the shipping done? Was it on time? Any customs issues of customs charges to be paid? Was the duty paid at your doorstep or were you called to the customs' office?
Need to order a leather jacket for my lady and a pair of offroad boots for myself.

I have done some shopping with STG. It will take minimum 2 weeks for your stuff to arrive in India. If customs decide to investigate, it will be held up for a while. In that case, they will call you to show the invoice. You can either go personally to hand over or post it. The stuff will arrive in another 5 days after this. In my case, I haven't been called for invoice value of less than 10K but have been called for greater than 10K. But pls don't take it as thumb rule since I know some folks who ordered goods worth in excess of 50K without any customs hassles. You will have to factor in apprx 30% of your invoice value for duties.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Got myself DMS boots from the Army surplus store in Shivajinagar. Rs. 500.

Thanks to bhpian voodoochild for helping me out with the minute details.

Now I'm in a dilemma regarding riding jacket. Whether the DSG Nero, Rage or Rjay's Swift/Voyager? Which one do you guys recommend? My criteria is - 1.Durability 2. Functionality 3.Form.

Also which gloves do you recommend for touring and city rides?
1. DSG Aqua
2. DSG carbon
3. DSG motomesh

Please feel free to recommend any other gloves which you feel are better or more reasonably priced.

For knee guards, AXO seems to be an affordable option. They retail for 1100rs. Should I opt for them till Im able to afford higher end ones? How comfortable are these while touring?

Please advise.

P.S I'm getting the orange monster tomorrow.
