Another video of a person riding perfectly fine at the wrong time, at the wrong place.

Car was reportedly driven by a minor.

I am a bit surprised the Jeep driver is blamed for the incident. At least based on the video, I don't see it being driven rash. It seems it was slow enough that it was able to stop almost immediately. Additionally the biker doesn't seem to have applied his brakes until he was close enough to hitting cross traffic. If the biker did not see such a large car coming in, how is it fair to expect the car to see the biker crossing his/her lane. The biker could have been careful when crossing intersections. This was an avoidable incident, specially from the bikers end.

Having said that, Bangalore roads are notorious for poor design including these service road concept without proper signals. I really wonder if the BBMP engineers and road planners even possess an ounce of common sense and sense of civic duty. We probably have the worst urban roads and infrastructure management in the country. Even the high court has been unable to set them right despite its repeated pulling up of the BMMP top brass. Pothole ridden roads, bus stops at the end of a flyover, poorly implemented bus lane concept, waterlogged roads, massive speed breakers with improper markings, hidden potholes at the landing end of massive speed breakers, the list goes on...

Haryana: 3 MBBS students burn to death in car after accident

Source : TOI

Quote:
Three MBBS students got burnt alive in a road accident on Wednesday night in Sonipat after their hatchback car collided with a cement barricade and caught fire. Three others in car also sustained burn injuries.

They were travelling from Rohtak to Haridwar on Wednesday night on Jhajjar-Meerut highway, when the accident occurred. The road was closed by placing cemented barricades on the highway as the work was underway. Going at high speed, the car of victims rammed directly into the barricades.
It raises a question as to whether the local police / contractor taken care to ensure that the barricades are adequately lit or sign posted. In photographs I am unable to see any reflector tapes, signage or plastic barriers before the concrete barricades.

Also, the mention of 'going at high speed' seems to deduced by the news reporter based on hear and say or his scientific judgment. Crashing into such heavy concrete barriers even at road legal speeds can result into such catastrophe.

A clear example of how ego and impatience cause accident. Caught on my dashcam in Electronics City, Bangalore.

Two idiots in the same frame.

One only needs to let the other go! That is all .

Not surprisingly, both were cabs. I am 100% sure two private cars would have 'adjusted' easily and moved on .

Let the young souls RIP.

Looks like the previous gen. i20 (latest gen. got the rear quarter window). Crashing and immediately catching fire before even getting any time to crawl/escape out seems to be very unfortunate. Low or moderate speeds are highly unlikely to catch fire immediately on crashing.

More the impatience, I would say typical cab mentality. One not checking before joining the road and one probably on the phone and not concentrating on the road.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

A motorcyle rider lost his life when he fell off a bridge. As per article below, he had gone for a ride on Sunday morning with friends when he fell off the bridge on his Ducati bike. The deceased was a software engineer at Infosys .

From the photo, looks like he is wearing the riding gear. The helmet is no where to be seen. Wondering if it was not secured properly as I doubt he would skip wearing helmet .

Article below in Kannada:

It looks like a typical case of being busy on mobile while driving instead impatience.

If you observe the cab drivers around you carefully, you will find most of them busy on their mobile phones.

Even many of them have those cheap Android headunits installed in their dashboards and keep the video songs running on them even when they are single in the cars.

Although this issue is not just limited to the cab drivers, many other car drivers and two wheeler riders are also found busy on their gadgets while driving/riding these days, even people walking on the roads are not any different.

Roads have become extremely dangerous these days and worst is yet to come.

No wonder the era of conventional cars is going to end soon which will be replaced by the self driving cars are. All thank to day be day increasing dumb brains on the roads.

The way authorities are not paying any attention on implementing the rules and regulation indicates that the govt is also part of the nexus which is developing the self driving cars. they want to make sure that there is no hindrance left for the sell of self driving cars whenever they are ready to be launched.

This is the one of the strong reason one should avoid late night driving in non familiar roads, with very less traffic. If there is need to drive in late night, use another vehicle as a piolet vehicle, keeping safe distance

Carelessness more than impatience. The driver pulling out has not even glanced behind, and the driver on the road has made no attempt at all to avoid hitting him.

This is 100%/100%!

100% the pulling-out driver's fault. So basic to look first.

100% the running driver could have avoided the accident. He wasn't even driving fast, and there was a fair amount of room on his right.

Not-my-fault is not that useful when one is still left with a car to repair, even if the other guy does pay up. Especially if it is the source of his daily income.

It's Ego and Impatience Day.. A similar video is posted 6 hours ago on a YouTube channel.

Trick to view videos on this channel: Start the video from the middle, otherwise there is a lot of blabbering and retakes.

It seems like ESP could have saved that man's life. Car's maneuver seems like over-speeding gone wrong.

ESP may not have helped.

When you ride a bike you are taught not to look at the obstacle but at where you want to go. The logic being that you will automatically steer towards what you see.

This is applicable to cars too.

I think this accident was because the car started losing control on the curve and the driver's attention was caught by the only moving thing in their field of vision - the biker. That is why they steered so unerringly (and so unfortunately) towards the biker.
