Do you think it would be better to wait to purchase a car after Oct 1, 2023 or will there be unjustified price hikes in the name of Bharat NCAP?
I just booked an XL6 Zeta AT and I am wondering whether to wait.

Re: Crash Testing in India! The Bharat NCAP

Will the tests be similar to other NCAP programs ? with the same parameters and results ?
Hope we don't dilute them and award stars so that cars by Maruti can meet them easily It should at least subject every car sold in India to these tests and advertise them on the car in dealerships which should be a positive step.

[b]Full Draft Notification is attached for reference.

Gurus can shed light on BNCAP scoring system vis-a-vis EuroNCAP or other.

However, one thing caught my eye and it took all fun out of BNCAP.

Quote:
Page 23 of the attached file : Vehicle Selection Guidelines

4.3.1.1 The model / variant within the scope of this standard, being a popular model offered voluntarily as per the definition of Popular Model

4.3.5 Manufacturers can only sponsor the assessment of vehicles manufactured and marketed by them including partner vehicles or corporate twins. Manufacturer cannot sponsor assessment for vehicles manufactured by other OEM’s.
May be missed this point earlier, but I was seriously hoping to see Tata Motors sponsoring all the "Popular" vehicles in Indian market. Trying to guess which OEM might have cried hard to get this point incorporated in BNCAP.

Re: Crash Testing in India! The Bharat NCAP

Not sure if this was shared earlier. Saw this in one of the tweets of Auto Journalist Kushan Mitra. Looks like we are in for interesting times if Mr Gadkari can hold off the intimidation and lure from OEMs. The first point being pole side means side impact I guess. This means they would need good protection from side impact. Ideally, this is in line with mandatory airbags from Oct 2023 (Is that postponed again?).

Re: Crash Testing in India! The Bharat NCAP

Interesting times ahead! Hopefully we have a worthy Bharat NCAP despite lobbies.

Mod Note: Government of India to launch Bharat NCAP on 22.08.2023. Please continue the discussion on the new thread.
