Hi jas_mirage, as you already know the dates you are travelling to Goa are peak season and Goa is most expensive during this period, if you want to stay at South Goa especially beach resorts all are either fully booked or very expensive.

I was also planning New year in Goa but looking at the rates shifted my plan of visiting Goa to first week of January.

Still I can recommend you some beach resorts in South Goa if you like to check them out and suits your budget.

1) The Bay, Agonda ( I will be staying here in January )
2) Karma Royal Palms, Colva ( Not exactly on beach but very close to beach )
3) Samyama Retreat, Cola
4) Marron sea view resort, Palolem ( Stayed here during last visit to Goa )
5) Sonho Do Mar, Agonda
6) Sea Star Resort, Agonda

If you are travelling in your own car or going to rent a car in Goa it is better to stay a bit away from Beach and visit beach whenever you want to but availability will be very limited during December third and fourth week.

The property is a 5 min walk to the peaceful Patnam beach and about 2 km to Palolem beach. It is located in a quiet, peaceful area with similar properties around it. The pool is great and so is the gym. It’s a 1 BHK apartment and 3 - 4 people can comfortably stay with extra beds which will be provided on request. The vehicle parking is ample, safe and shaded.

We had a wonderful time away from the hustle bustle of North Goa and spent a good 3 days like how Goa demands it! We'll surely go back once again soon.

Dear Friend, I am planning to visit South Goa coming 2024 December last week but unfortunately looks like running out of options for accomodation for two families. Are you still in contact with the owner of this property and mind sharing the details. Looks like I have to reach out to contacts now to fill my requirement as online portals are not allowing even 2 adults and two kids in a family to stay in a single room (doubling the cost).

Thanks in Advance.

I had stayed here twice in two consecutive trips. Its a nice property. You can search 'The Tubki Resort' in Google Maps and find the contact number.

A little off topic, but can someone suggest places to visit and things in the proximity of Palolem?

Well, you can visit Selaulim dam, Netravali water falls, Tanshikar spice farm (in Netravali). All these are interior Goa and you have to go to Canacona and drive in the old highway (not the new 4 lane highway) and take a diversion after a few kms after Canacona town.

Driving North of Palolem, along the coast you can visit Agonda beach, Coco beach, Cabo de Rama fort.

You can also visit Butterfly beach in palolem by hiring a tourist boat.

All the above is a one day itinerary in South Goa accessible from Palolem. They are not close, but palolem is the best base, from where you can plan to visit these places..

Re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

We are planning a visit to Goa at the end of March/beginning of April. We have two kids 5 and 10 and want to stay close to the beach (within 8-10 mins but nearer the better). The beach shouldn't be steep so that the younger one can enjoy without being scared of big waves.

We had short-listed Palolem since we stayed there 12 years ago and had a lot of fun. We are open to other locations also. Any recommendations for a clean, safe, decent place with AC and good food options nearby?

You can explore any beach resort in South Goa from Mobor / Cavelossim to Valsao. This stretch covers Cavelossim, Carmona, Varca, Benaulim, Serna Batim, Colva, Betal Batim, Majorda, Utorda and Valsao.

One of the beach resort that I always suggest is Nanu Resorts at Betal batim (3-4 Kms North of Colva). It's an affordable resort compared to other resorts in this belt. Another resort is "Beliza by the beach" again in Betal batim. Of course all beach resorts are bang on the beach and offer similar amenities and services. You can pick your choice.

Note: I have no affiliation with any resorts. My suggestion is based on feedback from my friends and general word of mouth.

Has anyone tried Ciarans at Palolem or Palolem Guest House?

Hi as you have already visited Palolem I would suggest you to try some other beach this time like Varca or Agonda.

We recently stayed at Majestic Beach Comforts at Varca, they have wooden cottages and the resort also has a private back door entrance directly on the Varca beach.

I found the location of the resort to be spot on with lot of privacy on the beach and the happening places like Benaulim and Colva are also nearby for food options.
