Wow! 234 seems to be in very good condition for a SH.
This would really be a good alternate solution if needed. Also can provide
a good fun factor for a new route.

Did you pass any restaurant at V Kote? I was aware that there is a highway
hotel on the 219 near V Kote. Just was wondering if you crossed at this point?

@ ampere
Was busy driving and we were travelling in the afternoon and my stop was at
Kamat upachar in Chikaballapur.
Stopped at Jangamkote for some fresh vegetables.
So never made any attempt to see for hotels.

Did this route after almost 4 years

super 4 lane till Mulbagal. And stops all of a sudden.

The roads to Palamaner, Chittor and Ranipet is pretty decent. I loved those twist and turn on those ghat. Missed it a lot.

And yes, i lost just less than 30min when compared to taking the krishnagiri roads. So, nothing to complain.

Certainly worth taking this.

The only bad roads i have seen is around Reddygunta near those railway junction.

And yes there are 2 company operated petrol bunks here. BP & IOC. Clean and good.

In fact I was driving continuously from Gooty and did not refuel so was desperate after Mulbagal.
Mulbagal to AP border is good but with occasional potholes but manageable.
Into the AP border roads improve with plenty of refuel options and a small ghat section after Palamner on the way to Chittor.

I have a query. I went last week to chennai via Mulbagal-palamner-gudiyattam. I thought for a while you also took the same route. Is there a direct route to gudiyattam from mulbagal bypassing palamner?

Its not a direct route per se. Mulbagal is the intersection point of the newly formed status of NH234 (Now again renamed to NH75) to the Bangalore-Chitoor Highway.

From Mulbagal you can connect to Venkatagirikota which comes midway between Palamaneru and Krishnagiri NH219 highway ( now called NH42).

So the route he took was:
Mulbagal-V-Kote - Gudiyatum (Nh75) (route link)

In fact there is another way as well (If you are starting from Bangalore)
Sarjapur-Baglur-Malur-Bangarpet-V Kote-Gudiyatham. (But the roads around Bangarpet are not all that great)

(route link)

I have once taken the krishnagiri to chitoor via NH219 with kuppam. Nice roads. So from NH4 do I take a right at the dravidian university board, go till V Kota and then left for pernambet and then gudiyattam?

re: Bangalore, Chennai via Chittoor : Route Queries

You have to travel till Mulbagal from Banglore and then ask directions for V.Kote. Last time
when I traveled I asked in the police checkpost regarding route to Venkatagiri kote they
were amused by the name.
Roads between V.Kote-Peranampattu is average single road with very less shoulder and occasional potholes.
Peranampattu-Gudiyattam roads are good but lot of villages.
This route from Gudiyattam-Mulbagal is fit for a day journey.
Very minimal traffic on this route.

As @gajadonga said, it is better to go till Mulbagal and then take the road to V Kote.
The Kolar-V Kote is very bad. Coincidentally that is one of the roads, which people take to arrive at Koti Lingeswara Swamy Temple.

Came via palamaneru gudiyattam again. Almost 40% of the road is ready in this stretch. Planning. To return tomorrow early morning to Bangalore. Need some good food options from chitoor bypass to Palamaneru. I have seen a shanti sagar 10 kms before mulbagal. Any other options?

There is A1 Plaza (Nandi) in between. That is decent.
I did not find many places in Palamenru also.
