Quick update. I am at Mantralayam currently. Pleased to inforn that the whole old route from Gooty- Pattikonda-Aspari-Adoni-Yemmiganur-Mantralayam is in good condition throughout except at a few places inside Asapari village and another few towns for a few meters. Do not go as per google and stick to the old route, mostly new tar everywhere.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

On 23/7/22 drove from Bangalore to Mantralaya via the Goothi, Tuggali, Patikonda, Adoni bypass to Yemmiganur. Barring a few metres of bad stretch at Tuggali & Aspari, the rest of the road is pothole free & in great condition. Hope this road remains pothole free for couple years.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Summary
Route - Bangalore –> Gooty (take deviation here) –> Pattikonda –> Aspari –> Adoni bypass –> Yemmiganur –> Mantralayam. Same route back as well.

Stay - Sree Guru Sannidhi

Food enroute for pure vegetarians – Near Anantapur, Triveni Club Pure Veg.

Details
Dates – 15th July to 17th July 2022
Departure from Bangalore – 15th July 2022, about 4PM
Reached Mantralayam by about 11 PM with a couple of bio breaks. Carried dinner from home and had after reaching the lodge.

Place of stay – Sree Guru Sannidhi. Last 100 meters approach through a very narrow lane. Small cars have no issue driving through. Accommodation was decent. Temple premises is at walkable distance from here, though you will have to pass through a stretch of stench. Pigs are everywhere in the locality. Very sad to see such a state.

Route – Initially wanted to follow google navigation. Our host from Guru Sannidhi called to check on us and mentioned to take the Aspari- Adoni route and not the direct route. I keyed in the route on the navigation but for some reason, the system decided to ignore my decision and took me through the original route. Must say, the direct route is best avoided since you get to see some scenes that you wouldn’t want to see. People taking potty breaks right on the road side was a common scene!

While coming back though, the navigation took us through the Yemmiganur – Adoni Bypass – Aspari – Pattikonda – Gooty route which was far better than the one we took earlier. The rest of the route is through the Hyderabad Bangalore highway which is boring (in other words, absolutely great).
So, suggested route will be Bangalore –> Gooty (take deviation here) –> Pattikonda –> Aspari –> Adoni bypass –> Yemmiganur –> Mantralayam. Same route back as well.

Food options – Found one veg option this time near Anantapur, Triveni Club Pure Veg. We were frankly delighted to see a pure veg option on the highway. The taste of food was also good.
It is on the right side while going from Bangalore towards Anantapur, just a few kms before Anantapur.

Location - https://goo.gl/maps/yqBjp1toaWX1J8EY7

Plus Code - JHPP+VQ Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh

In and around Mantralayam – We had a practice of taking the local Rickshaw and going around to the usual places at Mantralayam. We did the same thing this time around (hired a rickshaw for 1200, we could have got a cab type vehicle, but my daughter voted for a rickshaw) and regretted big time owing to the bad road conditions! The roads off the highway are non-existent. To add to the woes, plenty of craters as well! The ride was literally back breaking. It was so bad that my mom could not climb up the stairs at Panchamukhi and decided to sit outside and take rest. We are better off taking our vehicles and drive carefully.

Another problem I saw was of the Eunuchs demanding money enroute. I even saw a group while returning to Bangalore. They had positioned themselves near a road hump and I decided not to stop, but obviously slowed down to avoid them and for the road hump. One of them managed to hit the left door with a finger ring resulting in a minor scratch.

Other than this, the trip went on smoothly till we reached the outskirts of Bangalore. Thanks to the rain and the Hebbal flyover confusion, there was a long queue which almost extended halfway to Yelahanka. Took us more than an hour and a half to cross Hebbal flyover from that point! We could spot a few smart drivers weaving through such dense traffic at very high speeds, (sometimes in excess of 10kmph!), changing lanes abruptly creating issues for all around, undertaking risky manoeuvres like passing very close to other vehicles risking collision! All this to only meet at the Hebbal junction signal together

Another alternative to this would have been going through the Yelahanka town and reaching Yeshwanthur through Jalahalli.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Team, just finished the Mantralaya visit over the weekend. I followed the google map and it took me via village road after crossing the Gooty flyover. Though the road was narrow, it was good overall. While coming back the map took me via yemiganoor, Adoni, and Gooty. As the construction is going on in that small stretch, we can expect completion in the next few months.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Hi,

Anyone recently done Mantralayam to Hampi/Hosapete? I see two options:
1. Mantralayam-Manvi-Gangavathi-Hampi/Hosapete
2. Mantralayam-Adoni-Alur-Bellary-Hampi/Hosapete

Which route is better? Plan to leave Mantralyam by 4PM.

Thanks,

Prasad14

Alur-Adoni is probably among the worst stretches. It hasn't changed over decade as per DragonHawk's update (Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries).

You'll probably be better off doing Manvi-Gangavathi-Hospet. If you are heading towards TB Dam side, SH23 from Gangavathi is in excellent shape. You can get the preceding section updated from Hyderabad-Hospet thread (Hyderabad to Hampi : Route Queries).

Thank you. How do I reach Manvi from Mantralayam. Should I go via Raichur or take an inner road that Google is suggesting?

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Hi,

Just follow Adoni-yemminganur till 46 Km, take a left turn near Reliance fuel station to Adoni bypass road. This will take you to Gooty via pattkonda. After this, you will be on Hyderabad - Bangalore road. You should be reaching this highway by 6.30 if you are planning to leave Mantralayam by 4. There will be a bad stretch of hardly 1.5 KMs in this route.

It is better to pack some food if you are with kids because you won't find any good restaurants till Anantapur.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Hi guys, travelling to Mantralaya from Bengaluru tomorrow. Planning to leave by 4PM. Google is suggesting a direct route from Pattikonda to Yemmiganur. The reviews here suggest to take Pattikonda - Aspari - Adoni - Yemmiganur. Please suggest the best option

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Any idea on the route recommended by google these days from Bangalore to Mantralayam? I will stick to old school gooty-pattikonda-aspari-adoni-yemmiganur-mantralayam any day but the the new route seems shorter. Did anyone travel on the new one recently?
I am planning for one day visit to Mantralayam by starting at 4AM from Marathahalli and returning by 9PM the same day. Since time is important for such a fast travel, a shorter and better route will always help.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Avoid Kodumur-Yemmiganur at all costs. Its just such a time waste.

Took a circuitous Mantralayam-Adoni bypass-Aspari-Kurnool on the return, which was 140 km that took 2.5 hours over 2 hours for 90 km Kurnool-Kodumur-Yemmiganur-Mantralayam.

Roads are good all the way to Aspari from Mantralayam.

Heading to Mantralayam this weekend and this is the first time i am visiting.

I am confused at the route that you provided.

Is this what you suggest? This increases total distance by 140 kms and travel time of 2.5 hours over what google maps suggested.

Can you/someone please provide a link to best route that can be taken?

You missed my location I am driving from Madras. For me Kurnool is the best possible entry point.

For you from Bangalore, you should be taking Gooty-Aspari-Adoni bypass-Yemmiganur-Mantralayam.

I posted the update here, because there are many here who do take Veldurthi-Kodumur-Yemmiganur as a route choice, which is in disastrous state.

You have some misleading waypoints at Yemmiganur and Aspari where those extra turns are not needed.

I haven't been through Gooty, Pattikonda in many years.
