Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Visited Mantralaya over weekend. Started on Friday evening at 5pm and as usual made a stay at Anantapur. Next morning reached Mantralaya via Veldurthy Kodamur Yemmiganur road. No issues at all. Some very narrow road patches between laddagiri to kodamur.
Started return on Sunday at 11am and took same route. Visited Lepakshi on return. It was 9pm to reach home with nice 1 hour lunch break, 30 min tea break and full 1 hour break at Lepakshi and of course huge Bangalore returning traffic on Sunday evening

I plan to travel Mantralaya day after tomorrow. Will leave Bangalore around 6 AM. Any restaurant on the way for breakfast?

Except Kamat near Chikballapur, there are no good restaurants on the way. You may probably find a few good ones in Anantapur city, but none on the highway.

Nandi Upachar at Davanahalli (~50KM), Kamat Upachar at Chikkaballapur (~80KM), Blue moon before Gooty (~250KM) are the OK ones I am aware of. I have visited all three and found to be fine. All of them are on highway only.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Thanks to all for the information. We came back from Mantralaya yesterday evening. Took Bangalore->Veludrthi->Yemmiganur route and traversed the same route for return journey as well. The road conditions are favorable throughout. However the road width becomes narrow for approximately 15 kms between Veludurthi and Yemmiganur.

We stayed at Sreenikentanam Lodge next to the mutt. AC 3 bed room costed us Rs.1000 per night.

We also visited Panchamukhi temple, which is around 20 kms from Mantralaya mutt. The road condition is 80% good with few bad stretches.

We had good darshan and felt blessed. However yesterday being a special day there were VIPs from both AP and Karnataka.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Back after a trip to Mantralayam - took the BLR->Veldurthi->Kodumur->Yammiganur->Mantralayam route. Good roads all through. Be careful while driving through the small towns and villages where the road condition deteriorates and there are unmarked road humps. Also watch out for playful kids in villages who just seem to drop out of nowhere in front of your vehicle! We had a narrow miss with one such kid (who later got an earful from his village-folk).

We stopped for a break at Blue Moon Highway Restaurant. Options were limited here since we arrived between 11 and 12 (breakfast was over and lunch was not yet started) so we had settle with some tea. Clean restrooms are the USP here.

Took the same route on the way back. Stopped at Nandi Upachar near ChikbaLapura for lunch - excellent (but costly) food. Overall time required for journey one way is approx 7 hours, with one solid lunch break and one tea-break in between and with relatively easy driving ~ 90kmph speeds.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Planning to visit Mantralaya again over coming weekend. Did anybody make stay in the Blue Moon hotel on NH-7? Usually I start on Friday evening and make a stay around Anantapur and then continue next morning towards Mantralaya. I usually stay at Hotel Sapthagiri but never tried Blue moon. The advantage is I do not have to go inside Anantapur. Any suggestions/experience will be great.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

Just returned from Mantralaya. Took the veldurthy kodamur route to and fro. I could not book a room with Blue moon hotel since their phones online are all wrong. So while returning today made a lunch halt there and got the numbers
I found some more eateries on NH 7. Did not check their food quality though but external appearance and cleanliness looks good.

I had posted below ones a while ago
Nandi Upachar (~50kms) left side.
Kamat Upachar (~75kms) left side.
Blue Moon (~270kms) left side.

Two new ones
Swagath Delicacy (~85kms) left side.
Dolphin Restaurant (~200kms) right side.

Distances are from Bangalore. The sides are while going towards Mantralaya. All of them are on NH 7 only.

We had noticed this coming up some time back; closer to Kamat. And it looked in the same mould as Swathi Delicacy on the Hassan highway. But I hope the food is also on the same level.

But given the density of traffic being extremely low, I just hope these new endeavors do not get drowned.

There are 2 routes from Bangalore to Mantralayam,

One is via Hiriyur/Bellary (Route 1) & another one is via Anathapur/Gooty (Route 2).

If you take the 1st Route, it is lengthier & more time consuming (Around 420 kms), while 2nd Route is shorter (380 odd kms).

In case you leave Bangalore early, you should reach Mantralayam within 7 hours, and after finishing the formalities, in case you wish to halt for that day at Mantralyam, you can do so. I haven't stayed there, so I don't know the good Hotels/Lodges there.

While returning, after you depart from Manvi, the nearest best location to stay overnight is Bellary (if you wish to).

Some Best Hotels available there are Hotel Bala Regency, VITS Allum, Vaishali Residency.

Lastly if you take this Route (Mantralayam > Manvi > Bellary >Hiriyur > Bangalore), around 59 kms is part of SH, while Rest of the Journey (430 kms) is covered by NH.

Thanks CarGuyNish. I am planning to take the route 2 while going and while returning take the Mantralayam > Manvi > Bellary >Hiriyur > Bangalore route. I am planning to stay in mantralayam only and then the next day return to bangalore after visiting Manvi.

1. Is it doable?
2. Also how is route to & fro Manvi?
3. Since going along with family, can you suggest hotels with good restrooms
to and fro please?

Sorry for bombarding with lot of queries.

My suggestion is to stick to NH44 for the return journey also, this is not a good time to explore the scorching route of Manvi to Bellary with your family.

Re: Bangalore - Mantralayam : Route Queries

As suggested by carguynish and deehunk I will stick to NH 44 for the to and fro journey to Mantralaya. I am planning to start early and reach by 11 AM at the place. Just worried about the lodging option as I could not get any confirmed booking. Any suggestions for place to stay which has good bathrooms?
