Any updates on the road conditions to Tirupati/Tirumala from Bangalore? I am planning to visit next week. Does it make sense to come back through Vellore, Krishnagiri considering the condition of NH4 for night driving between Bangalore and Kolar? How much time difference will be there?

Bangalore-Kolar : Full of slush and 4L diversions.

If you stay in South Bangalore: Try the Sarjapur-Bagalur-Malur-Kolar route.
Very good but for 2 very-very bad patches of about 1km. But rest of the road is a beautiful state highway.

If you stay in North Bangalore try the route from Devanhalli-Chinaman-Madanapalle-Pileru-Chandragiri-Tirupathi.

The standard NH4 is good beyond Kolar. Use of Chitoor by-pass recommended.
Bit of pot-holed road, but worth taking it. You also get a good hotel on this by-pass (Name is Bans)

we went to tirupati on 21st aug. we used the NH4 only. used the marthahalli -varthur-sai baba ashram road to join NH4 at Hoskote. form there not many diversions. between kolar and mulbagal one side of the 4 lane is opened. so no diversions. mulbagal bypass has big potholes on palamner side.
it has taken 5 hours in spite of being rainy on sat day.

Diesel is Rs 1.50 cheaper in AP.
A1 plaza ( renamed as some thing) at reliance petrol bunk at bangaru palyem is ok

returned on sunday same route

Vasoo, the conventional Kolar - Mulbagal - Palamner route is good. Take precaution and drive slow if you are driving the Bangalore - Kolar stretch at night - there are no markings on the road and oncoming high beam lights are blinding ! This apart, no reason to avoid this road.

Srinivasa mangapuram route is only for walking. To drive up to Titumala, ailipiri is the only way.

Nope. The roads ends after a couple of kms. It is the footpath from there on. You have to use the Alipiri gate and the regular ghat road.

Can someone tell me how much does the taxi cost from Tirupati to Tirumala? Also, is there a service from Tirumala to Renigunta station?

Just take an auto from your hotel (if you are staying in Tirupati) to bus station and you can hop in to one bus or the other that would be starting.

Another nothing I have noted is that buses get through Tirumala check post faster than taxi/private vehicles.

I have booked a room online at Tirumala. But the receipt says it is valid between 00:00 hrs to 24:00 hrs for the date of booking. Previously one used to get the room for 24 hrs from the time he was allotted one room. Has this changed now? Can anyone confirm this who has visited Tirumala recently?

No. I had got an e-accomodation booked online at the TTD website and I was given a receipt which does not say anything about the timing. All I have to do is go to the internet counter and show the receipt, I will be alloted the room. I have confirmed this by calling the help line nos +91-877-227 7777/ 223 3333 / 226 4252. Try calling them for clarification

I have also booked an e-seva online itself.

Wanted to know about any package tours which will cover the nearby temples. What would be the charges for the same. Plan is spend the day viting temples, night at tirupati. Morning go to Tirumala, take darshan. Spend night at Tirumala and next morning reach Renigunta to catch the early morning train to Mumbai.
