Get an Elantra CRDI. Petefy it.
A well mainatined Lancer Diesel. We had one and its good.
Optra Diesel

Scorpio is not suitable for you considering the Fuel Efficiency. We are getting 10.
The only thing i like about the scorpio is the size..when it appears at your RVMs especially with a party flag..and an insane driver who does not want to brake..

Then i stomp on the launch control to see that BIG vehicle disappear in my RVM..until the next time i brake..

I have not had the time to take a td yet..but will do so asap. Meanwhile thought i could get some inputs from fellow members who have had the pleasure of driving the cars as well as SUVs...

Its 11 lacs. And its only 5 bhp more powerful than the older one. It also has the same handling.

The handling is not good in 2.6 CRDe. It does not give me confidence on highway at speeds over 130.

Lancer Diesel handles beautifully.

Power is not of much use on highway as the handling is not inspiring.

@rippergeo..

looks like i will settle for the innova or elantra..or maybe a skoda..octavia?? Need solid handling..i know that the diesel innova max out at 140 or 150 so maybe the skoda or the elantra are the only choices..ofcourse new ones such as the BMW 530 TD or the Sonata Embera V6 3.0 are above budget..i suppose

And I thought speeds above 120-130 are purely academic... I would advice you to take it easy because at that speed you wont get a second chance. For you kind of usage, select b/w Safari or Innova or the Scorpio 2.6, 2.2 version is over priced with non working electrical gimmicks.

140kmph is plenty for our roads, and the innova can do those speeds very well. if you pete it, it will be faster than the stock swift. and the top speed will improve too.

elantra would have been my choice, but since you have to carry loads and do rough roads, innova is the best compromise.

safari would be a good choice too, but its handling is not as good as the innova. (ducking for cover)

He drives some 140kms to his factory off the 4-lane GQ. He knows the road like the back of his hand and he'll do 240 if he had a car which could.

but the octavia just like the elantra is an old model. You might just get the sonata in 12l with discounts. Also you can comfortaly cruise in a peted innova at 140 without any strain on the engine.

Of course, the budget is only what we make of it. we at Team-BHP always strive to push it higher & higher.

How about a Merc E Class.
