I mean, your car is only 49K kms old (not sure of age, but maybe 3-4 years old), thrills you with acceleration and top speeds. To top it all, it also gives an FE that is awesome, more so due to diesel being cheaper. Why would you need to look at another car then ?

Yes, looks like the best bet for you, in the current scenario.
The car odo now reads 51404 kms. The car is 2 years and 6 months old. I was just exploring a better car than what i currently have so that i could plan on a swap - Is anything wrong with the thinking, SB, John

Thought Tbhpians would be able to help me decide on a suitable replacement. For all i care, if i buy the swift D it makes a perfect 3rd car.

I am not in a hurry to change my car also. Just exploring options! Thanks for your inputs, ideas, suggestions and advice!

I've managed to sort the barrel of oil problem..Now the main thing is the speed , FE and comfort.

140 is not too fast BTW - if you drive as much as i do everyday on the same insane roads, i'm sure you'll agree [you'll wanna rev your car in 2nd gear just to enjoy the music..]

I dont know if anyone's recommended this not-so-popular car.
2000cc Diesel, 120bhp, 320Nm , 9.71 on-road for base. And you get a 3-year complete maintenance scheme too.
Chevrolet Optra Magnum TCDi.

PS: GM service isn't bad,is it?

It looks good on paper..But the IDIOTS at Sundaram Motors are yet to give me a TD vehicle - its been 3 weeks now!!

Also, there is no comprehensive maintenance scheme - They give you a 50K kms warranty on the engine alone - This sucks Big time.

The Best kind of warranty claim was given by Toyota - 100,000 kms warranty on all parts but for Battery and Tyres - This was too good to be true !

Yes, I saw this in Deccan Chronicle also yesterday. For routine services or running repairs, absolutely no charges (spares / labour) for 3 years. Sounds good actually.

And vikram, iraghava's suggestion about checking out the Getz CRDi is also a good one. It should meet your expectations of speed, pickup etc, but mileage might not be like its peers.

See SB: Regarding GM or Sundaram Motors..its actually the dealer who screws up!

1. These fellows are not clear about the service costs : They will still charge you for oil, bushes etc etc and screw you: What Toyota has done is clearly stated that one just needs to take care of the tyres and battery and ALL the rest is on their account for 100,000 kms. I think THAT is comprehensive service. GM DONT DO THAT.

2. Yup, waiting to lay my hands on the Getz D - Heard its not yet out and they are still sampling the cars - any leads available at any dealer. Nitrous organise one da!

And did you check the Hindu today - Fiat 1.3 Multijet has arrived to rock the roads

While I am sure it would be a nice car, how different it would be from the Swift-D as far as engine, performance etc goes ? You would be better off with a Swift, given the A.S.S. issues.

But, the 110bhp Getz would be another beast altogether, satisfying your requirements for fast 'n furious driving.

Whatever car you finally end up with, make sure you get one with ABS & airbags - even if it means that you have to wait a bit - there is no urgency anyway, as you said.

Our member 'hotrod' is picking up a black toyota innova top end V model. I doubt if they have a service package. They must have mentioned about the 100,000 km bumper to bumper warranty which you would have misunderstood as free maintenance.
