I have very cleverly disposed all the original packaging and have about 50+ 1:18 models that I need to ship.
I always wrap my cars in bubble wrap. And then, if availble, wrap them in shredded paper.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

@KMT - I too had to move around what i did was pack each model individualy with a lot of bubble wrap. i would also suggest putting some packing under the side mirrors to give them some extra protection. Each model is quite heavy so dont put all wrapped models in one box. Split them up and you can also use shredded newspaper as packing materail in the boxes along with any of cloth material. I had use this method when i shift about.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Cyrus/Yajaman
Many thanks for the tips, I shall use both the bubble wrap and shredded paper.
The Ariels and Mirrors are the usual victims.

Any idea if Customs guys are bothered about these?
Many Thanks
KMT

Hi KMT,

Apart from bubble wrapping and extra protection for mirrors/rails do take care not to stack cars on top of each other. Even if it means more boxes. 1:18 cars are quite heavy and you don't know how your box is handled at the courier. Also, don't leave any slack between two models.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

@ Cyrus - Absolutely fabulous pictures. You need not own real cars at all IMO. Just park all your 1:18 models together and shoot them. Show off to the world and all will believe that they are the real stuff.

@ manish - Its looking cool, but I could see the hood misaligned in the second pic.

Amit, I had posted one picture of interior, nothing to write about. All Black Painted with dials, handles and pedals being Silver.

My kit was a old stock, the current ones come with decals for gauges, clips on hoods and much more.

The hood closes properly. But the bigger issue is chassis plus the floor pan tub
are in misalignment with the body and if you look closely you can see tyres rubbing on the wheel well and the uneven gap in the wheel well.

Later found out in online forums that it was a manufacturing defect from revell. The solution is to cut the fenders at the bottom. Had I known earlier , before building.
