Around Indiranagar, ECA is accepting new materials and funds. Indiranagar club is accepting funds. NPS school had tied up with an NGO and accepted materials today. I know few people who have been using the amazon service.

True. I was there in the morning with a friend. There were many people buying stuff in bulk to send to Kerala. Felt great to see that.

His predictions are usually reliable. Hope this one also comes true.

The battle is still not won though - many missing cases, cleaning effort, reconstruction - this will take a lot of time now.

They need a couple of SUVs in Kochi to take some food to the camps.

Friends here from Singapore are leaving no chances either to help the relief camps. Clothes have been already collected and shipped, and people are literally working 24 hours to exchange information on stranded people around places to the authorities. Currently, donations are being collected from different sources by the Malayalee Associations here.

On an another note, Singapore Red Cross will soon be headed towards Kerala to lend a helping hand. Despite the wretched disaster that has happened, it’s quite heartwarming to see people coming forward on their own, willing to help.

I used Amazon to send relief material. If you want to use this method then please check the delivery charges. I don't know how Amazon has chosen the seller as some sellers are charging as much as 20% for delivery. I hope Amazon will remove those sellers and all amount goes towards relief material.

A friend started yesterday night Trivandrum to Kochi with his Endeavour. Seems only SUVs are encouraged to participate in the flood affected areas to reduce risk.

Donated via Paytm for the relief fund. Urge Bhpians to do their bit. Have also subscribed for a one time payment to be deducted from my salary via my organisation.

Re: August 2018 Kerala floods! Help Kerala

Guys, just a tip - while donating money is certainly welcome, right now, the people living in the refugee camps need basic necessities like soaps, toothpastes and toothbrushes, disinfectants, set of clothes and inners etc. because most of them who were rescued, were stuck in their respective homes neck deep in filth and mud. Plus, right now they cannot do anything with all the money in the accounts of the NGO. Eventually, these NGOs have to purchase all these goods and dispatch it to the refugee camps.

IMHO, if you buy the stuff and send them directly through Amazon, Bigbasket etc. or if your workplace is volunteering to send some trucks with these goods, buy them from a cash-n-carry outlet or wholesale markets (like D Mart/Big Bazaar), pack them in a box and drop it off at the collection point.

Absolutely!

Since yesterday, I've heard of a few experiences in the friends circle - relatives missing/unable to be contacted, people being rendered homeless due to rising water levels. In one instance, a person is visiting India from abroad to spend time with family during the festive Onam season, his flight was diverted from Kochi to Bangalore and he is unable to contact/trace his family. Very disturbing news all this.

I'm sure all of us are doing our bit to provide some help towards the relief activities. God Bless!
