I believe Snapdeal has improved a lot on reputation and prices are always lower than Flipkart. I have shifted to Snapdeal for most of my online purchases.

What has concerned me is the fact that vendors like Dell, Samsung, etc. all caution us against ordering products from Snapdeal (by name). That has kept me firmly away from using them for anything till date.

Yes, not once but twice.

i) I ordered Mi3 in my friend's address on July 21st and within five minutes, they cancelled it stating 'same opportunity for everyone'.

ii) On July 29th they cancelled my second Mi3 order (in another friend's name). This time they took ~15 minutes.

I didn't feel like taking up the issue with Customer Support Team as my friends whom I ordered the phone for, were okay with the cancellation.

After my two unsuccessful Mi3 orders, I ordered a Samsung Battery from Flipkart for my friend. They cancelled my order saying they couldn't reach him on phone. So, I placed another order. They cancelled it again stating the same reason. (Mind you, they never called me or my friend in first place )

This time, I took up the issue with support team (not regarding the Mi3 orders) and they replied that "As per our records, I see that you've placed orders for the same items number of times. As we need to provide equal amount of opportunity to all our customers, your orders are cancelled". I explained them the reason why I had to order the same item multiple times and they resolved the issue.

For my first Mi3 order, they refunded me Rs 500

Yes, but that is probably true for flipkart too. And may be for all online sellers like ebay, Amazon, etc ; except their one or two authorized channel partners. Like Compuindia for Dell.

Should these online companies not taken these companies to CCI(Competition commission on India) or they doing something illegal? looking at how fines where put on Automobile companies, CCI could fine these companies like Dell, Samsung, etc few 100 crores.

Companies cannot stop sellers from selling products through online companies. And most of the time, online prices are way cheaper than what you get locally. So, the companies are trying to discourage the customer from buying stuff online as this way their authorized physical stores are getting affected. The online sellers may not be maintaining a 'physical store' hence overcoming many cost heads which enables them to sell at cheaper rates.
However, I feel that it is wrong on part of manufacturers. Don't know the way-out but all I can say that there is still a large chunk of people who prefer buying stuff locally.

Right. And these notices don't mean anything - if they fail to honour warranty on a genuine product citing this reason, I expect them to lose comprehensively in the consumer court.

I had ordered a Dell Wireless keyboard & mouse combo through Flipkart on the 7th of this month. Got it delivered the next day and received an invoice copy one day later. It clearly mentions - "Keep this invoice and manufacturer box for warranty purpose"

+1. The basic fact is that the seller here is not Flipkart or Snapdeal. They are just a market place providing a platform to 'authorized' retailers which may have been selling offline too! Plus they give you an invoice of their shop, not snapdeal/ flipkart. There should be no issues in claiming warranty. The manufacturers are creating a hue & cry just to show solidarity (or sympathy) with their other channel partners. After all, they are also making money out of such sales.

You know what, I inquired the price of iPhone 4s from a local authorized dealer about 5-6 days ago and he quoted 24K. Another local dealer quoted 23K. As of today, is it listed on Snapdeal for about 19.5K. That is a huge difference. Thankfully, Apple India has no such tantrums for online purchases!

Another example, I was looking for a 16GB USB flash drive. Not a single shop in my city was willing to sell one for less than 800-900 bucks sometime during the last year. When I asked for some discount, they stared as if I have asked for their all real estate. I ordered it from flipkart for 500/- flat and they delivered to me at my doorstep with a pukka invoice! I am sure local shops do not issue an invoice for most items one buys...esp. these petty stuff.

My Experience with Ebay-
I had ordered PNY In Ear Earphones 2 Sets from Ebay.in. I had done payment of Rs.566/- including Shipping using Internet Banking.
Only one Set was delivered. When I called Ebay Support. They asked me to talk to the Seller first and then revert back. Meanwhile they too contacted the Seller but the latter told both of us (Me and Ebay) that he had shipped 2 Sets of Earphones and he has CCTV Coverage of the same.
Ebay refunded full amount of Rs. 566/- and told me that there is no need to send the 1 set of Earphone that I was delivered back to them.
