Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

The year 2021 starts today. Like we did last year, let's talk about our resolutions regarding the automotive world and what car plans we have for the year. What are the targets we want to achieve or the bad habits that we want to get rid off?

Here are mine.

1. Become a safer and more courteous driver and make road rage a thing of the past.

2. Limit the use of the car to only when absolutely necessary. Walk or cycle whenever I can and reduce my carbon footprint

3. I don't have any plan to change my evergreen Corolla. Everything is working fine and all I will do is keep it in perfect condition.

4. Do a few road trips. I've had only one worthwhile road trip in the past 5 years or so.

Drive more! Get back to riding, slowly.

I am one of those people who let go off my passions in the early part of my career and prioritized work over everything else. I wanna change that slowly and spend more time on things I like, machines being one of them!

re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

We need to leave the past behind but not the learnings.

Once the crisis is under control,

1. I would travel small and frequently to keep touch with friends, but also add a purpose by visiting nearby schools or volunteering for socio-environmental causes.

2. Will have well planned but memorable trip once in 2 years.

3. Driving/riding safely on road and educate others to follow.

4. Keep my car/bike in better shape and level of cleanliness than last year (I admit that I neglected them last year due to pandemic).

5. Save up for an electric vehicle for next replacement..

1. Stop fighting with morons on the road. Just accept them as part of life with a smile (hard but will try
2. Say goodbye to almost 11 year old Civic
3. One day trip a month, one long road trip a quarter

re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

Thanks Aditya, for taking inspiration from the last thread (though that was a bust)!

My only (automotive) resolution for 2021 is to get as much driving / riding experience under my belt as possible and be safe while doing so, now that I got my licenses.

Let's hope this year is a good one. Wishing you all a very happy and safe new year!!

re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

With my Vento TSI going into the 8th year and now out of any kind of warranty, I definitely want to start doing some mods on my car in 2021. With no plans to change it, need to start putting some additional efforts into its maintenance too.

re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

1. Do not change the car for another 8 years
2. Drive with less braking and smoother than how I drive now.
3. Keep away the OCD of cleaning the car every now and then. They are meant to take certain abuse and definitely look better when dirty
4. Stop spending on accessories which I hardly use.
5. Covid has messed up the service intervals. Will try to bring it to the actual.
6. Spend more time understanding the mechanicals of the car than the usual modifications.
7. Stop criticizing the way people drive/ ride / walk on the roads however learn to improve my own skills to tackle such situations better.

These are my 7 resolutions which have nothing much to do with Stephen Covey. Happy New Year to all, hope this year brings a lot more smiles, miles and happiness!

re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

1. Complete a few pending DIYs on my Creta that were initiated but haven't got the time to address them.

2. Address the braking issue and make the overall braking capability better than what Hyundai has given me (Priority No. 1).

3. Road trips - as much as possible.

4. Get back to riding by mid-2021 (hopefully!)

re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

- My first resolution is to get a new car for my kid brother home. The 9-year old Nissan Sunny was severely damaged in the Mumbai floods and its health has been sliding ever since. Drives very poorly now. Want to bring a safe & luxurious machine for him & his highway drives. Might retain the Sunny as the beater of the house.

- My 2nd is to go on more road-trips. Us Parekhs live for road-trips & the pandemic ruined our 2020 plans.

- 3rd is to figure out the paperwork for my Jeep so that I can legally sell it.

My planned TB500 ride to Spiti that couldn't happen in 2020. Let's see how it pans out in 2021.

re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

1. Keep driving my Beat Petrol for another 5 years.

2. If point 1 is difficult then buy a new CSUV.

3. Either a Diesel Automatic (TC) or a Petrol Automatic (CVT).

4. Drive more and travel to the remotest locations.

Cheers!

re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

1) Stop ranting on highway drives, especially with family. Time to crank the volume up and get different music/ podcasts.

2) My Verna has completed 7yrs now and the paint is not in great shape, especially after a door panel repaint got messed up. Time to get a serious detailing done, and at worst a full repaint.

3) So far the Verna is bone stock at 77km on the odo. Thinking of a remap and may be some suspension mods while getting a dash cam and android auto installed. However a bit skeptical on how much money to sink into giving the Verna a mid life refresh given am planning an upgrade in late 2022/ early 2023.

4) Take the road less travelled. 90% of the highway kms I have put have been on NH48 or NH44. Time to change that this year. Either hit the west coast of Karnataka or Goa or something in Central India. The Tadoba National Park iooks interesting.
