Nice closeups of the small raptor.

A tigress looking up at monkeys after a failed ambush. Reprocessed. Looks oversharpened, click to see the actual image and then click again to see full size (posted a higher resolution image for tiger lovers).

The shot (composition/mood) is very nice, but there is some blur. Perhaps the light was too bad to get decent shutter speeds and freeze the chillum + light.

I need to restart my Kumaon travelogue. Old photos from 2012 taken with the D90.

Pangot - Kunjhakarak road. I was carrying a long telezoom (wanted to shoot raptors), so the depth of field is all awry. But the mood reminds me of that late afternoon.

Yep, low light, dialling in a lot of zoom, and a spontaneous shot without prior preparation, on auto mode from a 9-year-old superzoom camera (the Sony H3) that I was carrying while out cycling. The fellow was actually positioned this far away:

Exif says f/4.4 / 1/40s / ISO400, so not surprised about the blur. Nothing I could do better, given the circumstances.

Nice shots especially the the last one. 70D + 100mm is a potent combination. I use the 100mm L. Amazing for hand-helds. But I am still on 550D. Will be changing soon.

Beautiful shot Nilanjan. Here is one from this weekend. 550D+100mm L hand-held in natural light and pretty much straight out of the camera.
(except for re-sizing)

Any thoughts on which camera you are upgrading to ?

Your upgrade from a 550D should be to full frame - In my opinion, the 5D mk iii. Moving to an APS-C won't make any sense. 550D is an awesome one on its own.

The L lens is the holy grail of all 100mm's available. The pic is awesome.

So far I have somehow been managing all my macros handheld. Will be doing another project soon and will share the pics

Wildlife at home

Frisky models, never still for more than 2 seconds. I would tell them to sit, but the moment I would kneel down, they would get up and try to lick my face or the lens.

Re the second shot: was holding a ball with one hand and the camera with the other. And trying to shush the fella, because he was barking like crazy, waiting for me to throw the ball.

D7100 + 50mm f/1.8 G. My 50mm 1.8D had conked off, was trying the new 50mm f/1.8G at f/1.8.

Nice one!

Played with post processing to get a fractal effect. This is a 1:1 of the petals of a marigold.
