Sagar, Any idea of the steps involved and time taken. Long process defeats the said purpose and if cumbersome might have to switch distributors itself [ aka indane to BP/HP.

I don't remember the steps. I had read it in the news paper. But ya it will involve lot of running around. So unless you are sure that you will get better service from the new service provider to whom you are migrating to, its not worth the effort. You can get the details of porting from your gas provider. Call them up for the steps . I don't know if its present on the internet

Not sure, I had seen the launch news on news channels. They had mentioned it will be through COCO outlets. BTM and Koramangla has COCO's of Indian Oil, not sure if it is available there though.

Piped Gas tube connection

Hi

Guys, need your kind advise in gas pipe connection in kitchen from utility.

Planning to put the gas cylinder in the utility area [ outside the kitchen ] and draw the gas through a pipe into the kitchen.

Can you please let me know any disadvantages of gas cylinder being in the hot sun / exposed to elements of nature ?

And what should be the specifications of the gas pipe ? Any particular recommendations on the brands for the gas pipe ?

Eagerly waiting for your reply

Re: Gas Connection for my new home!

I have a couple of questions.

Where in Chennai can one buy the 5 kg LPG cylinders that are supposedly sold through petrol pumps? What are the approximate costs involved (initial & refill) and documents required?

Are these 5 kg LPG cylinders available with the dealers of private (non-PSU) gas companies? If yes, which companies, and how to buy one?

We are arranging an accommodation for visiting relatives for a few weeks. Cooking needs are somewhat minimal, and will be mostly taken care of by electrical appliances. But we need to provide a back-up method in case of power cuts/failures. A small LPG cylinder and a single burner stove seems ideally suited for the purpose.

Replies and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Gas Connection for my new home!

I have an Indane LPG connection in Bangalore.

I had booked a cylinder last week, which got delivered yesterday.

It was charged at full rate (Rs 736 IIRC). But the subsidy has not been received in my bank account.

By when will the subsidy be deposited in my account ?

I don't think that I have used my annual quota of 9 cylinders. We generally book a refill only once in 2 months, meaning our usage is 6 cylinders per year.

I have already registered and linked my Aadhar number with my LPG distributor and my Bank Account. This was done almost 1 year back.

When I log in to my indane account online, I can see that my Aadhar number has been correctly linked to my LPG connection.

On the online indane account, there is one tab for entering your bank account details, which is currently blank for me. Do I need to manually enter my bank details again, if I have already linked my LPG connection to Aadhar number and Aadhar number to Bank Account ?

EDIT : Just received a message from my bank - subsidy has been deposited.

Rohan

Re: Gas Connection for my new home!

People - how to go about getting a new LPG connection in Bangalore? I have checked and registered on the Indane site. Verified my email also - is it enough to provide a passport copy - Bangalore address but not in current home address? POI is fine - I can provide the PAN card. Please help.

Painless process? And how long does it take to get a new connection?

Do you have a Ration card or an AADHAR card? Having one of these two will make it a very easy process to get your gas connection.
If you do not have both, and if your passport doesn't have the current address, you will need some address proof to provide for the current residence. Overall, the process is pretty smooth, however they may ask you to purchase some utensils and stove from them, you can refuse if you like but that may delay the process.

The best thing to do, visit your dealer and ask him what is needed.

Re: Gas Connection for my new home!

Guys,

Need advice on shifting the gas agency from one to another within BLR, as I have shifted my residence.

Can anyone guide me with the correct steps in the process, please

I have the original subscription voucher from my agency, apart from the lastest delivery slip. What else do we require to accomplish the shift of the agency ?

Can get photo, address proof, and ....

Will be waiting for your inputs

Here is what I did when I transferred my connection from one BPCL agency to another. I would assume the procedure is same for any agency

First , you need to visit your parent agency, give a written request mentioning that you would like to transfer your connection to another agency
Then, they will collect your subscription voucher and then issue a Transfer voucher in the name of the new agency.

With this voucher, you need to visit the new agency, give the vouchers, address proofs, photographs, KYC form filled (in case you haven't done that)

Before going to the new agency, it is better to have a word with them to ask as to what all documents they need.Normally, whatever I mentioned above should be sufficient

The new agency might force you to buy some stuff like cookers, induction stove etc etc telling you need to get these for the new connection.

be prepared for this as well (in case you are not interested in getting these stuff)

Contact your LPG distributor and he should be glad to offer one to you at cost price.

As far as I know, you can't get a spare regulator.

The gas agency issues only one regulator per connection.

You can get a replacement only if you surrender the original one (in case it is not working properly).

Re: Gas Connection for my new home!

I keep wondering, the government wants to make everything digital to arrest leakage and yet does not provide an online payment option for gas cylinders. Why is it that no one seems to talk about this at all?

I am not in a position to disclose more on this but from what I see, 2016 is the year you can witness lot of changes happening in the way you deal with buying LPG products. So you never know your wish might be fulfilled too
