Such a nice and clean looking Seiko.
Care to share the price?

Interesting you say that, because the Rajat and the Pilot are two of my favourite HMTs too. My Boss bought a Pilot recently. It is one of the classiest HMTs and with a 700-odd price tage for a mechanical watch it's a steal. Sadly, I don't own any HMTs, I only own a Seiko 5 mechanical.

Bottle, besides our Palio Stiles, we also share the same Seiko 7S26 movement with a glass back on our Seiko 5 watches. In fact, I had shortlisted the watch you've bought also, but ended up buying a slightly different one in the same series.

You guys have some really nice pieces. I for one cannot wear metal straps. So my next best is leather or rubber plastic. My current favorite is this :

I always knew the Pilot and Rajat needed a Janata to complete the picture, to close the loop, so to say. So, i ended up adding a vintage english-lettered Janata with red seconds hand to my kitty. Looks exactly like this, but with a faux leather strap.

HMTs are so damn cheap and so INDIAN, that everyone MUST own one :)

That is how much i have lusted for a Rajat for a long time now. Got the SS bracelet changed to a good quality leather strap. As per the old man, the serial number on the screw down case back indicates my Rajat is of 2002 'vintage'.

Never expected a NOS to fall in my lap. On cloud #9 right now.

Mr. Shetty did the same for me! I picked up an NOS Rajat (without strap) from him, but for wayy less than what you paid. And he dated it at 1984 from the serial number on the caseback. Now I need to find a suitable SS bracelet. Leather strap somehow just doesnt suit a Rajat I feel.

EDIT: Would anyone know if I can get good NATO straps in India? I'd like one for my Pilot, which is currently on a Timex Expedition NATO-style strap (yes, sacrilege, I know!)

I dont wear watches...my better half loves them , bought her a Ladies diamond watch by Bulova stupid:, the best thing about the watch is that , it has a mother pearl in the center which in real life is really cool.

How reliable are GUESS watches? Here's one that looks beautiful but Im not aware of their quality since its a company that emphasises on cloth and fashion. Im looking for a ladies watch for my wife.

Or would I be better off with a Casio Sheen series? They are of the same range.

I remember buying HMT digital watch in 1992 when I finally started having some cash in my pocket.

Their website is so dumb, it is beyond belief. http://www.hmtindia.com/html/frame.a...-s_watches.htm

Actually, this is the proper website for HMT watches. Not as dumb as the HMTIndia one!

Yup, I actually got interested in the watch after seeing your pic :D I was looking for the older version with the hexagonal dial but it was not available except in gold which was too gaudy

Guess watches are ok, been using them for more than 10 years. No real issues
