Perchance this comes with a leather strap as an option? |
I think this watch does not come with leather strap. However, I suggest you to go to a showroom and try it in person. The strap in that watch is not typical metal strap it is mesh type. It is very nice actually. :)
I love Skagens. They are light weight (most of them have Titanium casings) and very thin. Does not feel heavy like Casio Edifice series.
My birthday gift from parents. This HMT Janata watch was of my grandfather's, most probably he bought this in the year 1971 for Rs.100/-. My father also used this for sometimes, but remain idle since 1985, thanks to quartz watches!
This week I have done the servicing and changed the strap. That's it and the watch older than me keeping the time like a new one.

It is a Beauty, you can get the dial cleaned it would look a lot better,
Here is my HMT Pilot. I think this is one of the most beautiful looking watch ever.
Used a drop of polywatch to buff my junghans.
Here is my latest acquisition. Admittedly, not an A-brand watch, but I still like it. Goes well with my Bullet.

Dear friends,
Took the plunge and got myself a HMT Janata White..absolutely loving its looks.
But I am totally new to mechanical watches. I find that if I try to wind the key by more that 2 rounds, it is unwinding by itself the moment I take my hands of the key. Is it normal?
Also I want to know at what frequency I should wind the watch to keep it running? I wound it in the afternoon by 2.30 pm and it stopped by 11 pm. Is that normal?
I really love to keep the watch with me for at least 25 years. stupid:
I bought it from hmtwatches.in for 1800 plus 80 for shipping.
The backdate was delivered the third day from my ordering through speed post. Perfectly packed. The warranty card is also filled up. Nice work from HMT.
One photo attached. Will look for a new strap after some time. I liked the contrast black strap with white dial.

^^^^^^^^
Not normal for the watch to unwind itself or tick for only 8-9 hours. The norm is at least twice of that.
Nice watch, I just bought 1 too last week in a shop in Pune. Paid Rs.2,000 for it :OT
