The Tissot PRS516 whilst being a great watch, I was rather unfortunate. For some reason, the second hand fell of inside the dial (I had the black dial) itself and rendered it unusable for the time being. Haven't really sorted it out and have now moved to a Seiko Prospex Solar PADI edition and am pretty happy. Worth a look too in that price range.

Has everything that I need for my treks, as well as great water resistance, which I need as I love to swim / dive.
Just picked up this beauty... loved the classic looks!
Colour of the actual watch looked slightly different from that on Ethos website though.

Nice watch. I am a big fan of blue dials, and have a the Orient Mako II (blue) myself. In fact, my next blue dial watch is incoming from the US next month clap:
Anyways, your Longines looks fab with that sunburst clue dial! How much discount on the marked price did you manage to get from Ethos? Did you pick it up from a physical outlet, or online?

Any reviews of the Casio G Shock GD350 (G441) would be helpful. It apparently comes with vibrating alarm.
Also good alternatives in the price range of 5-6k would be much appreciated.

Great watch. Got it about a year ago. The squared off top and bottom make the watch look better on smaller wrists than other gshocks. The flaps on the inside part of the lugs also help keep the watch in place on your wrist without much movement. The vibration feature is also quite helpful. While I love the negative display some ppl find it difficult to read the display in some lighting conditions. The negative display makes it stand out from most other gshocks. Only wish the light was a different colour.

Hello Arindam, Congrats on acquiring this beauty. I got myself a Ray II recently which shares the same automatic movement but my watch is gaining 20 seconds per day (24 hrs) , could you please share if you are also facing this issue ? Thanks !

My Ray II also gains about the same (15-20 sec per day). I have had it from July, I reset it every 15 days. I think this is high comapred to the cheaper Seiko5 I have. It moves in the 1-2 sec range.

Yes 15-20 secs per day is way too much for a Japanese precision movement. I am a bit disappointed but the blue sunburst dial takes care of most of the disappointment.stupid:

My Mako II is gaining around 8-10 seconds per day. This and slightly higher gains is within the manufacturer published tolerance levels, so I am not overly bothered with this. AN occasional adjustment does the trick. Also, I understand that regular wear help maintain its accuracy. I don't wear the Mako every day, its more a weekend warrior for me. My regular wear is the Orient Bambino at office.
Watches in this price range are usually not as accurate as a COSC certified piece, or higher end pieces, and I did factor this in my buying decision. In general, I am not too hung up about pinpoint accuracy, its the sacrifice that one makes when choosing a budget mechanical watch over a quartz or a higher end mechanical piece. As you pointed out quite rightly, the brilliant aesthetics of the watch kills its competition in the price bracket. Love the sunburst blue compact dial, and even the bracelet is a nice comfortable one for the price.
Do post some pics of your Rays, will be a nice addition to this thread!
