Re: Which watch do you own?

Bought it for ₹38,000 from Helios in Bangalore.

Just go for it - you won’t regret it. I catch myself admiring the sunburst dial all the time.

There was a series of different colours introduced a few years ago. Think there were 4 - 6 options. I got mine back in 2021, changed the strap to a leather option. Can’t remember but I got mine either from Helios or Just in Time.

I'm waiting for someone to fly down from the US, its slightly cheaper there by around 10k! This Sunburst Blue was my original choice back then but it was out of stock so settled for the brown dial.

Best thing about the Presage series is their dial. Very few other brands can match them in that price range.

Here's mine which I wear every weekday.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Oh what an amazing thread I’ve come across! I’ve been collecting my share of timepieces since teenage, starting from a humble Fastrack when I was 17 or so. Here’s an image of my current collection; all of them I love to death and most I wear regularly.

My favourite of them all- you guessed it right, it’s the Victorinox Maverick!

Can you please share how much you paid for it ? I have never wore watches but caught a mechanical /automatic watch fever few years ago and bought few orients including this one, never wore them just clean and wind them once in a month, so might let it go for a reasonable price .
Thank you.

I do use the stop watch occasionally. And world timer just for heck of it. It's more for keepsake and fun not really utility. And this Tissot is clean and simple to tell time to this lonely Idiot😀

Hi! Worked out to about 500 USD 5 years back. No duties paid. Yours looks to be in mint condition. You must wear it! Looks very well sized in an era of gaudy oversized sports watches. I wear the Samsung 46 as a daily and really appreciate the mechanical when I do, once a month or two. The curved sapphire looks the part.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Sharing my collection, with a few of my better half. I have not been able to bring myself to buy beyond the Oris and Seiko but I also love the value these brands represent! The Rado is bit of an outlier but still an automatic in ceramic (staying true to Rado!).

Plus, sharing my latest buy which came in today - B5000MB. I had a really difficult time getting my hands on this one as it has been sold out for a while and it just popped up as available on the casio store. Looks like it was the only piece as it has again become unavailable.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Nice thread idea. I always prefer analog watch, not big fan of smart watches.

My current favorite watch is Fossil.

I own this bad boy. Insanely cheap, reliable and durable product. It comes with all bells and whistles and goes with everything I wear.

I almost forgot, it glows in the dark :P

Re: Which watch do you own?

I am attaching two watches which I use regularly - Giordano and Citizen Ecodrive. Which watch do you own?-citizen.jpeg

Which watch do you own?-giordano.jpeg

There's a story with every watch I have owned. But nothing beats the excitement of the first watch. It was hmt Vijay. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of the watch. It was owned by me in my school days.

Quoting the story I wrote on hmt Vijay.

hmt Vijay and nostalgic times.

Growing up in a time when majority of my school mates came from typically middle class, similar income background. Almost every one would get a wrist watch in their last year of school.

As long as the choice was a “hmt.”

And hmt ruled the roost in the 80s in India. They were the only Indian company to make hand wound watches and you’d have to be a rich kid if you got an automatic Ricoh or a Casio.

hmt was very popular with the school going kids, all because they kept it interesting by getting new models every 6 months.

The “wonder gadget” - analog only - would only come in bells n whistles of whether the belt would be leather or a steel one. All included for a low three digit amount. And believe me this was still a saving of 6 months for the middle class family.

The gold plated belts were out of reach and generally worn by politicians of those days.

There was a super quick learning lesson on how much to wind the watch. And believe me we kids knew this better than our parents.

Followed by putting it up to the ear for the listening of the tik tik tik tik. There you go running to show it to your neighbors and smiling all along, needless to say you go to bed by keeping it by your side.

Then the next morning you wear it for the first time to school and you have earned your own bragging rights. The novelty was the different model, the comparison was a very non-egoistic difference in the colour of the dial and the flaunting was the purest joy one could get in those times.

hmt Vijay lives in my memory - permanently.
